Sad Day

Well today was a long, sad day so this post will be a short one. Not only was it sad to watch the memorial service of Michael Jackson, but our older sister’s dog was put down today due to complications from a previous surgery. Today was our cardio day, but after going through many emotions, our mind was not in our workout. Emotional drainage makes it challenging for anyone to focus on working out. We usually use the gym as our outlet, to let off steam, etc., but today it seemed a bit harder to get in the groove. We ran about 2 miles, and both were not feeling it today. Which does happen to all athletes, you just have bad days.

It might sound silly to some that losing a pet was so tragic, but we are dog loves so we take it hard. We have lost a few pets in the past, and it never gets easier. Whenever one passes, it brings back emotions of the past. So today we took on yoga to help center us after all these emotions. We felt we needed to slow our minds down, and refocus on the good in life. Yoga is great tool to help just do that…find inner peace again no matter what is going on around you. It does take some practice but that is what yoga is all about practice. You go at your pace till you reach your inner peace. And for everyone it is different, which is another great thing about yoga.

So next time you are going through a rough spot or taking on more emotional stress than usual, take some time and slow down with yoga.
