Hey everyone,
Well I apologize now but my workout was pretty much the same as the sis. Here is what I did:
About 20 minutes before leaving for the gym with Gina, I had my usual pre-workout bar.

This is a new recipe we created that the sis sent to me to try out. It contains cacao nibs for extra boost. It worked! The bar was so easy to digest and gave me all the fuel I needed to run. I never really got tired today during my run!!!
I did not have a plan today for my run, just started running and ended feeling great (I think due to my awesome yoga practice yesterday) so I ran my best 3 miles, 27 mins 40s, and ran my best 6 miles, 56 min 30 sec!
My workout:
- 6.0 for .25
- 6.1 for .25
- 6.2 for .25
- 6.3 for .25
- 6.4 for .25
- 6.5 for .25
- 6.6 for .25
- 6.7 for .25
- 6.8 for .25
- 6.9 for .25
- 7.0 still I reached 3 miles at 27 mins 40 sec.
Walked till I hit 30 minutes. Then began my 3:1.
- Ran 3 mins at 6.6
- jogged 1 min at 5.5
- ran 3 mins at 6.7
- jogged 1 min at 5.5
- ran 3 mins at 6.7
- walked 1 min at 4.1
- ran 3 mins at 6.8
- jogged 1 min at 5.5
- ran 3 mins at 6.8
- walked 1 min at 4.1
- ran 3 mins at 6.9
- jogged 1 min at 5.5
- ran 3 mins at 6.9 and 6 miles at 56 min 30 sec (woohoo)
then slowly decreased my run till I reached 6.5 miles and finished with walking the rest to get 7 miles and a total time of 70 minutes!
I was very proud of myself because I never run fast like this and for some reason it felt easy. Even though I would love to say I am getting stronger, I still felt like maybe the treadmills were off. So as you can see in my sister’s post she did a similar run and our times were pretty close. I guess the treadmills I run on here in OKC are a little off but overall I am still getting good run times in. I will take it!!!!
I definitely feel I ran so fast today without trouble was due to my yoga. I have read a lot of other runners who feel their runs improve because of yoga. Yoga really is great for everyone even serious runners because it helps stretch and lengthen the body, which our bodies need after being pounded when running. So try incorporating yoga into you routine and see how you body reacts, and remember before starting any new exercise program consult with your doctor.
My post workout shake (sorry for the poor picture)

A hand stirred hemp protein shake (we like Manitoba Harvest) with lots of goodies (maca (a must after a run), chia seeds, carob powder, turmeric, cinnamon, yacon powder, acai powder, dulse (another must)). Maca is good for stress, which we stress our body while working out so eat this to counteract that, and dulse is a natural electrolyte.
Then it was time for class at 105 degrees academy.
We finished the ingredients to make raw sweet corn tamales
First was the raw cacao mole sauce

then salsa and guacamole
made up of jicama, tomato, pasley and lime juice
I double mine so I could have some for leftovers : )
And last was the sour cream which I made mine out of mac nuts instead of pine nuts

Time to make tamales…the stuffing was the filling we made yesterday

Time to plate

And the finish product
Pretty good for my first time making raw tamales

Now I am not a huge fan of tamales and as good as this looked I just took a few nibbles of the guamole and made myself a very large green smoothie. It was full of coconut water, blueberries, apple, spinach, mint, chia seeds, cacao powder, and spirulina
This hit the spot and yes I drank it all!! I am use to normally having 1 or 2 green smoothies a day and the past few days I have not been feeling the best. I think my body was letting me know I need one and take a break from raw food, which I mean dehydrated food and nuts….oh but not dessert. I always have room for dessert.
I was packing up my Cinnamon-spiced Brigadeiro to take home and I had one : )
I luv these!!
We ended class making Papaya Tres Leches with Coconut Cream Frosting. This is a layered cake with a cake layer, vanilla custard layer and vanilla cream frosting…all tasted yummy! Of course I sampled : )
We only started the cake and will finish it tomorrow
I forgot to take a pic of the first cake layer, but check out the pictures tomorrow when we cut it!!!
Have a great evening!
Till next time,
Michelle

I’m still feasting with my eyes!!! Whatever will I do when you finish school???
Oh a new bar! Any hints what else is in it?
I have been powering up with hemp balls (dates, hemp seeds, cacao)
Wow, I can’t wait to see that cake when it’s finished. It sounds like it will be beautiful.
Yummm that guac looks awesome!
Hey, question. My girlfriend and I are driving down from Wichita to OKC this weekend to check out 105 degrees. I looked at the menu and I want to eat everything haha. Can you recommend any dishes that are must haves for the first visit? Not that it really matters but I’ve been eating raw for 8 months so I’m fairly familiar with the tastes, textures, etc.
Thanks, Ken
Glad to hear you coming down to try 105 degees!! There are many things I enjoy but the spicy noodles and sushi are good starters. For dinner the lasagna is amazing. Breakfast is wonderful here too! I hope you can try a little bit everything. Enjoy your meal.
Your tamales look fabulous!!
