First meal at 105 degrees
Hey everyone,
Well what can I say I just went to 105 Degrees to have some lunch and check out the school. First the place is beautiful!!! It is clean, fresh, and very modern with open windows and bamboo tables…very welcoming! I got to meet the leaders of the academy (Matthew, Ladan, Dara, Whitney). I did not meet the Chef, Geoffrey, but I will soon.
The whole staff at 105 degrees that I did get to meet were so nice and helpful, which just makes me so happy and a bit less nervous.
This morning I went out for an hour run with Gina. Our hotel has some trails so we took to the road this morning. It actually was not that bad to run through there was a lake to run around! I would probably do a run there again while I am here.
Next on my agenda I was going to go finally see 105 degrees! But before I headed out for lunch I got my bag full of my uniform.

haha, i felt silly taking this pic
Okay, now back to 105 degrees… I must say they did a fabulous job!

Matthew Kenney!!! Need I say more

The kitchen busy at work
The kitchen is beautifully designed and well organized…well the whole place is that way.
Okay time to talk food and drinks. I had lunch with one of classmates, his girlfriend, and Whitney who work at 105 degrees. Great group of people…we all ordered different things and shared!!

My drinks: Pink ginger lavender lemonade (created by Whitney) and cucumber tarragon cooler
Both were delicious!

My first course: arugula salad, green figs, walnut toast, aged macadamia cheese
So good…the flavors match perfectly!

The rest of the tables first course...everything was great.
This was my first time having a sea vegetable salad, it was so good with the persimmons and citrus miso dressing. It was amazing…the flavor was well balanced!

I ordered the blue corn tostada with an orange pepper sauce
Taste was right on. It was light and refreshing! A very nice portion size as well, a little too much for me though.
Here is what the rest of the table ordered….want some??

Yes that is right...Raw pizza

This was my first time having raw lasagna...oh boy it was unbelievable. I think could be my fav

My dessert...malted chocolate tart in cacao macaroon crust : )
I was the only sweet person at the table…so I got most : ) And the other dessert ordered was the blood orange cheesecake in a sesame anise crust. It really tasted like a orange creamsicle…but so much better.

As a chef/baker I truly enjoyed tasting so many great flavors. My taste buds are so happy, as well as my tummy. If you have the opportunity to come to Oklahoma City, please come and enjoy the best meal you will ever have. 105 degrees alone is a great reason to come to OKC! Please come and check out the amazing food! The chefs do an amazing job as well.
Now the true highlight of my day was meeting Matthew. For both Lori and I, Matthew is our role model. He truly is an amazing chef and can make any dish look amazing from the presentation to the unbelievable flavor. He has many restaurants, so check out his site and go out and give them a try. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
Now I am so excited for class tomorrow. I sure wish Lori was here to experience this with me, but I guess she will have to come another time (hehe and maybe I will come back too).
Hope everyone has a great labor day!
Till next time,
Michelle
