Day full of great food…seconds anyone?

by Lori and Michelle on September 9, 2009

Hello everyone

I got up early for a morning run with Gina. It was a hard one today for some reason, but I did manage to get a good 4 mile run in : ) I will take that!! It is nice to have a running buddy especially on those hard run days.

Then it was off to class for my second day at 105 degrees academy. I was not as nervous as the first day, actually more excited today because this was my breakfast:

Raw Granola with almond milk

More please!

IMG_9175This was a different way than I make my raw granola, so excited to show the sis this recipe! I shared my method with Ladan who thought it was a great alternative to making it. That is the beauty of raw “uncooking” there are many ways to do a recipe…it is all about fun which it sure has been so far! Everyone at the academy and restaurant have been amazing. Very welcoming and helpful, which is such a relief because most people have an image of culinary school and it is so not like that here. YAY! The environment is very open so it is great for anyone who would like to learn more about raw “uncooking”. Plus it is only for a month so perfect to fit into your schedule!

Next we made more nut/seed milks. I decided to make pumpkin seed milk, which is new to me : )

I love the color green...which is my favorite color!

Then we practiced our knife skills

Then we ended class with making tarts, I made mine all coconut flake based : )

IMG_9208Making raw tarts are soooooo much easier than “real” ones full of fat, white flour, and sugar…no thank you!

Check in tomorrow to see what we fill these with!  : )

A few of us stayed a bit after class to have a wheatgrass shot to give us a boost because tonight is a big social media event, which I am so excited about.

Greg did the honors!

I will post pictures of tonight’s festivities….time to go get ready!

Till next time,
