I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts

by Lori and Michelle on September 10, 2009

Hey everyone

My day did not start with my usual workout but instead headed to 105 degrees bright and early for a live TV segment on the local Fox news! It was a lot of fun because it was live! I have never been on live TV before.

IMG_9301Go Dara and Ladan!

IMG_9296People got to learn about raw foods, what equipment to have, and got to see how to make a smoothie!

Here we where chatting with the news anchor…and she loved the smoothie!

Not a bad way to start the day, plus I was able to make a green smoothie full of parsley, spinach, hemp oil, coconut water, maca, turmeric, chia seeds, and 3 dates. It was divine! I had so much fun taking things out of the walk in fridge to make my smoothie…I was like a little kid in a candy store. Sorry I do not have a picture, I was so thirsty and hungry! I was craving my green smoothie!

Then it was time to tackle some coconuts

My 1st box of 9 coconuts...had some bad ones so Ladan bought be another box full

My 2nd box...my hand and arm were getting tired by the end thank goodness Jen and Ladan helped me out!

And the fun began…about 14 coconuts later

Yummy fresh coconut meat!

Then disaster struck.  I got cut! And the knife sure got me good! But I got all bandage up and was back to work.

The mature coconut did not like many of us today...a few cuts today...the joys of working in the kitchen :)

No worries though because it does make yummy coconut milk

IMG_9325First have to juice the mature coconut meat

Then blend the coconut juice with coconut water and viola you have fresh coconut milk

Long process but so worth itLong process but so worth it

Next, we made two wraps that we will use tomorrow

First: Coconut Wrappers

So easy to make just blend up coconut meat

Second: Red Sweet Pepper wrappers (the ones I enjoyed at the event last night, so excited to eat more)

again blend, spread, and dehydrator

We will make the filling for the wrappers tomorrow!

Lunch time. I was so excited to have greens. I have been missing my greens.

If you follow me (& my sis) you will see that I (we) love salads

I have been craving my greens so this hit the spot

Our last recipe of the day I was so excited because we got to make a recipe using Irish Moss!! I have tried a few times using it and they all failed. But here I come to found out I did have the right kind. So lesson learned: make sure your sources of products are true!

This is what irish moss should look like

I cannot wait to go back home and make some recipes with the sis!

Today we used it to make our Mango Vanilla custard….it was so easy!

Now I wanted to dig in but had to place them in fridge to set…cannot wait to eat them!

Before we were dismissed we all picked what we wanted to sprout for next week’s classes. I chose sunflower seeds. Looking forward to learning more about sprouting!

And then the best part of a long day was receiving this

My sis sent me a package full of goodies

IMG_9355Just a few things from our Pure2Raw product line: 3 different kinds of raw brownies (I love chocolate), 2 types of raw macaroons, raw lemon cookies (my fav), and 5 different types of our famous and very popular green onion breads! Thanks sis! Plus a few goodies from Navitas Naturals and hemp protein (some staples in my diet).

Well time to do some yoga

Till next time
