The sun finally came out

by Lori and Michelle on September 20, 2009

Hey everyone

Before I begin I must say it was very nice to wake up and see the sun!!

Okay now, I did not go out exploring yesterday. Greg (a student at the academy) and I went into 105 degrees to help out in the kitchen.  It was the first week/weekend for breakfast, so it was time to remake things for this upcoming week.

I grabbed a green juice before leaving work, although it was not the best…to much ginger. It was a little hard to get down so when I got home I had some snacks to fill me up. The sis had sent me some of our Pure2raw raw cheese crackers and our famous raw onion green breads…yum!

Then Gina and I had a sleepover, both of us were tired from the week and we got a long one this week : )

We both woke up excited to see the sun because we could finally go for a run outside. Although feeling a bit sore from yoga yesterday the run was not a good one. My legs felt heavy and I just could not get going. We managed to get about a 3.5 mile run and decided we rather go eat some raw breakfast at 105 degrees.

Another wonderful raw breakfast

I ordered the Raspberry Rhapsody

Gina and I both enjoy the glass straws!! I loved the flavors of this smoothie. I stuck to the raspberry theme and got this:

Raspberry Beignet

Raspberry Beignet

These were so good…surprisingly light. I love raspberries!

Some fun facts about this amazing berry:

  • member of the rose family
  • contains  flavonoids that help prevent overgrowth of certain bacteria and fungi in the body
  • possess almost 50% higher antioxidant activity than strawberries, three times that of kiwis, and ten times the antioxidant activity of tomatoes
  • excellent source of vitamin c and manganese
  • good source of fiber, b vitamins, and various minerals
  • helps burn fat due to fiber keeping your full and manganese keeps your metabolic rate high
  • contains lutein which helps vision
  • contains strong antioxidants such as quercetin and gallic acid
  • antioxidant food containing ellagic acid which may prevent cancer
  • helps acne and rough skin and wrinkles
  • cleanses urinary tract
  • eliminates toxins from the blood stream
Sorry for the blurry picture...it was taken on my blackberry

Here is a nice raspberry smoothie

scoop of hemp or rice protein

Blend till smooth!

Well back at the hotel doing some work. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Till next time,

Michelle
