Good Monday everyone
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
This morning Gina and I tried again to go for a run outside but it was raining : ( So instead we headed for the gym.
I felt great this morning even after a good run yesterday, so I was hoping I would get another good run! I had a pre-workout snack at 6am (about 30 mins before my run).
I love our new workout bar...thanks sis for sending me some!
I already started thinking of some new flavors that I told L to make, so I will be receiving those soon : )
My workout: 6 mile run
- 2 minutes walked to warm up
- 7 minutes at 6.0
- 7 minutes at 6.1
- 7 minutes at 6.2 (there is no significance in the #7, just want I felt like doing)
- 3 minutes at 6.3 / 1 minute walk X 2
- 3 minutes at 6.4/ 1 minute walk X 2
- 3 minutes at 6.5 / 1 minute walk X 2
- 3 minutes at 6.6/ 1 minute walk X 2
- 3 minutes at 6.7/ 1 minute walk X 2
Then walked to cool-down
Now I did feel great besides my lower back a little sore, I think from the hotel beds. But I had energy, never got out of breathe, and ran faster than I have before. I am by no means a runner, I just like to do it. Plus I am not a fast runner so for me to feel good at a 9 minute mile was huge for me!! I truly am noticing how what I eat before and after my workouts make a huge difference.
My Post-workout meal
Hand stirred Vega shake with chia seeds, maca, stevia, cinnamon and coconut oil
** Sorry for the bad picture, I did not know how to make a plastic cup look good : /
Then it was off to class for my second week at 105 degrees. Also, this was the first time the restaurant was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!! Food looked amazing ; )
Today in class we started with my favorite post workout meal : JUICE!!!! Not only did we make one but TWO juices today…I was so happy!
First Juice was a basic green juice: celery, apple, ginger, lemon, kale
Heavenly!
Sis, I am in love with this juicer!! So we might be getting a new one : )
Juice #2 was Apple Grass: apples, ginger, celery and wheatgrass
I was powered up now!
Here are some fun facts about wheatgrass:
- increases red blood-cell count
- lowers blood pressure
- cleanses the blood, organs, and gastrointestinal tract of debris
- Stimulates thyroid, correcting obesity (HELLO AMERICA Get your GREENS)
- Extremely alkalizing
- Fights tumors and neutralizes toxins
- Contains beneficial enzymes
- Soothes itchy skin and heals cuts, burns, and scrapes, even poison ivy
- Turns gray hair to its natural color again
- Lessens the effects of radiation
Now I used to have wheatgrass all the time when I first got into juicing about 4 or so years ago. But took a break from it because at the time I was extremely toxic and whenever I drank it, it never sat right. So at the time I thought I should stop having it and now I realize I needed it!! I am glad we have it here at the academy because it reinforced why we need all need to have wheatgrass!
This week our focus is learning more about sprouting. I chose to sprout sunflower seeds, since I have never done them before.
They have been sprouting all weekend...look at them!
Rinsed and ready to germinate more...just a few more days!
Next up was Apricot Pistachio Biscotti
This was my first time making raw Biscotti, so I was excited! Cannot wait for tomorrow to eat them : )
Into the dehydrator they went...I made 4 mini's
Lunch time: Raw Pizza
Everything for the pizza we did on Friday so it would be ready to eat today.
The Raw Pizza Crust
Sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, & cheese
Topped with arugula and spinach salad
It was sooooo good!
Then we made some more snacks for tomorrow:
Cheesy Kale Chips

Walnut Rosemary Crackers

Tomorrow is going to be a good day!! Lots of goodies to eat : )
Twin’s Question: Do you like wheatgrass? How do you drink it, straight or blended in with a juice?
Till next time

I’m loving the look of those cheesey kale crackers. I had a theme a few weeks back where I made my own swiss chard crackers for a whole week. They were addictive. I am loving your 105 degrees experience that you are sharing
Oh Swiss Chard is my favorite green. Lori loves kale so I guess I will have to save her some : ) Thank you! I am having a great time at 105 degrees.
I HAVE THAT JUICER!!!!! I just got it about 2 mos ago, it makes me feel good that of all the juicers on the planet I could have bought, the one I chose is used by the 105. If you get it from Bed Bath and Beyond, you can use a 20% off coupon taking it from $300 to $240 which for me, was huge. The downside to juicing is the cleanup….how in the hella do you deal with it? Is there some trick I am missing to get the pulp well rinsed from the filter? It just seems like never ending rinsing…do share your secrets!
Oh thank you for the Bed Bath and Beyond idea! I will check into it. Ya I have a hard time cleaning the filter, too, ugh. Wish there was an easy way. I will let you know if I ever find a good way, for now I scrub with a toothbrush.
I adore your blog – I am new to 100% raw and I work out every day! It’s great to read your posts!
Thanks Katie for the comment. Your blog is great too! Welcome to the raw foods lifestyle you will love it. I look forward in sharing the journey together!
Hello, I don’t usually post, but just wanted to say thanks for the info. It helped. You rock! Stay Healthy! – Devin
