Woohoo Day 6 is almost over

by Lori and Michelle on October 13, 2009

Hey everyone

We hope that your Tuesday is going well! It sure has gone by fast!

Lori and I both a had good day today..started day 6 of cleanse with our lemon water and enemas. Such a fun morning isn’t! :) Don’t be jealous.

Here is a quick re-cap of what we ate:

Breakfast: green smoothie – about 18 oz each

Snack: Split a kombucha tea

Twins Workout: Yoga Podcast

Lately we have been doing a online yoga through Exercise TV that our friend Stephanie told us about, which we love, but today we were feeling something more slowly and focused. We gave yogadownload, that our friend Gina does : ) We did 3 short series of 20 minutes, each focusing on something different…detox, core and a basic vinyasa flow. We really enjoyed each one!!!

Lunch: green juice – 14 oz each

Dinner: green smoothie – about 12 oz

Michelle slowly enjoying her green smoothie after her colonic.

Snack: chia pudding and possibly more of our cocktail kombucha tea (can’t seem to get enough)

The hunger for food is starting to creep in…we are both looking forward to having something to chew : )

Although our plan is to ease back into solid food because anytime you take a break from having solid meals you need to ease your body back into them. At least that is what we have learned.

I finally ordered us a kombucha tea starter, so excited about that : ) Also ordered some kelp noodles (my newest obsession that I got at 105 degrees) and water kefir. Our friends Anthony and Ani told us so much about it and recommended we give it a try.  We are getting it from Dawn at Happy + Healthy …Balance One thing Lori and I are doing is increasing our fermented foods to help grow good bacteria in our gut again. Our bodies are “slackers” when it comes to good digestion so good bacteria should help with keeping our bodies happy and healthy.

From dealing with digestive issues and having food allergies, our gut has been damaged so we are repairing it! We are still going to get regular colonics to help get rid of the old waste, take probiotics, eat more fermented food, and keep eating a lot of dark leafy greens.

Both of us are really starting to feel a change in us. We feel all this hard work (yes avoiding yummy foods is work) is starting to pay off. Although things do not happen overnight, we still have a journey ahead of us, but both are more optimistic that we will be healed!!! Lori is still struggling with more breakouts on her face (my face is slowly calming down) and both still have depression issues though as I mentioned we are REALLY trying hard to keep our heads up and see the light on the other side (so to speak).

We will now see how our colon works after taking this cleanse, doing enemas, colonics, watching our sugar, drinking lots of water, and sweating! Hopefully our colon is on the right track to heal and start working properly for us! We truly feel we are taking the right steps that our bodies need to be alive and vibrant again! Because as many of you know we are training for our second marathon. Yes, we have not started training yet… hopefully next week.

Here we are about to start our first marathon.... we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Those smiles did not last long! :)

Here we are about to start our first marathon.... we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Those smiles did not last long! :)

One thing that we both have learned from the cleanse is that our bodies do show us signs when something is not right working. You just have to slow down and listen to it. We all have different bodies with unique characteristics which makes us all so SPECIAL! Everyone experiences different “health” issues and these issues that we have been discussing with you all have been ours. We hope our journey will help you become more aware of your body and don’t be embarrassed no matter what your issue is. And that our bodies are WONDERFUL machines —- you can really HEAL herself through proper foods (good nutrition) and exercise.

Take care.

Till next time,

Lori and Michelle

Good job girls! I discovered your blog through Gena’s and must say, it’s becoming my new favorite!

I’ve been drinking lemon water in the mornings and Stinky Drinks when I can afford them. I must say my colon and skin has never worked or looked better!

I just ordered a case of kelp noodles. I requested a sample of the green tea ones and they threw it in my order! Love them!

Do you have a fav kelp noodle recipe?

Interesting to hear about your cleanse; I did one when I first became vegetarian, but it was much milder…just pills, no enema. But I’m thinking I’d like to do a more serious one now. One interesting thing is I found that my face broke out a little when I did it and I almost never have that happen; I really think it was the toxins coming out.

Congratulations on training for a second marathon. To do one is awesome, but to come back for more is truly a rare thing. You two should be proud.

Thanks Matt for commenting! Ya our skin has broken out more due to detoxing but it is slowly clearing out as we clean out. Yes we sometimes cannot believe we are going to be running in another marathon : )

Matt, yeah when we were done with our first marathon we both said we would never do it again. But yet somehow we signed up for another one. Cleanses are important for all to do. Please let us know if you ever have any questions about cleanses.

I noticed the depression when i started the raw food lifestyle. Now after about 3 weeks, I can feel it lifting and feeling renewed again. Why do you think you go thru a period of depression when cleansing?

Christine,
We feel that you go through a depression during cleansing because everything begins in the mind. Emotional detoxification is an important part of healing. Depression can come up because when your detoxing (cleansing) you are not just stirring up toxins through waste but emotional toxins as well. The body and mind all heal together. Though as we heal our bodies we have to heal our minds as well to be completely “healed”. Just knowing that emotions will pop up is a great way to be prepared to get through it.

Love Love Loved that you did the Exercise TV yoga. I also use that sight/on demand and its perfect.
I recently downloaded it to my ipod so I can do it anywhere.

I found on Exercise TV’s website this great new workout video about Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders workout plan. I tried it out and although it was a little intense, I thought it was perfect. So fun and easy…hopefully I’m on my way to looking like one ;)
