Kale Chip Recipe

by Lori and Michelle on October 16, 2009

Good evening everyone,

Hope you all had a fabulous Friday.  As I promised in my last post we wanted to share our latest Kale Chip Recipe. I learned how to make Kale Chips at school and here is my recreation of them.

Cheesy Kale Chips

  • about 3 heads of green kale, ripped into pieces, stalks removed
  • Place kale pieces into a very large bowl.
  • Throw next ingredients into a blender:
  • 2 cups cashew butter
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (yes I know not raw, but it was at school and I never got to use, so we had some on the shelf, so we gave it a try)
  • 1 tsp cilantro

Water.

Blend.

Warning: It will be thick, so be patient as it thins out, add water slowly. Want it to be a thick but runny sauce.

Then toss over kale pieces…time to get your hands dirty. I made Lori do it, haha.

And the finish product

CIMG6112People at the farmers market are in for a real treat…it took everything out of us not to get all 4 trays of these.

Here’s a quick recap of what we ate today…

Green Smoothie to start

I guess we were thirsty…we downed these in under minute...okay maybe 2

Lunch: Red Beauty Juice

We also snacked on some of gluten free vegan goodies for tomorrow’s farmers market. We were testing/tweaking some new recipes…chocolate chai cupcakes, lemon cupcakes, fudge brownies, gingerbread cupcakes….oh did I miss cupcakes…but my stomach doesn’t : ( Both of  us were feeling a little bloated and sluggish from all the treats, but hey they were worth it!!

Only live once…right!

Dinner: Thick Green Smoothie

Oh and we had cocktail…hey it’s Friday

CIMG6115

haha did you think it was a real cocktail : )

We have a no drinking while we  you work policy, haha right…Kombucha tea of course.

Oh ya we started fermenting our Kombucha tea that we got yesterday, plus making yogurt… we will recap those tomorrow.

We finish our night with a new raw recipe…that was inspired by ShannonMarie.  We put our own twist on it…

CIMG6174Raw Pumpkin Cupcake with pumpkin glaze and whipped cream

CIMG6177Okay our frosting is not the prettiest looking…Lori keeps calling it a terd...we were lazy and didn’t let it come to room temp.

But it tasted amazing…

CIMG6181Yes we were good girls and split one….had to save the rest to sell at the market : )

Hope you all have a good night!! Although before we say goodnight….we wanted to leave you with a question…Can you have too many kale chips??? Twins don’t think so : )

Till next time,

Lori and Michelle

Kale chips are great, although I rarely make them myself. I always happy to snack on them when someone makes them for me.

Despite the cosmetic details, that cupcake still looks yummy to me. I would’ve eaten the whole thing :-)

Hi twins! Came here via another blog and am really enjoying your posts! The kale chips look amazing — I make them too, though yours look much cheesier. Cheesy is good :)

Great looking cupcake! I have made a few of Rawdorable’s treats and her recipes are terrific.

Love the ‘cocktail’!!

this looks so yummy :) but I’m a bit confused… are the kale left raw? or dehydrated?? i’m guessing raw because you didn’t say anything about dehydrating them, but just want to make sure. I love your posts and recipes!!! Thanks :)

Oh I am sorry Susie, yes we dehydrate them a few hours till crispy. But we have left the raw too, just a different texture. Thank you for your support!
