New outlook on running shoes

Hey everyone

Thank you to everyone for their supportive comments from our previous post….it really meant a lot to us.  We are more motivated now to cleanse!

We have had a gorgeous day here in NC. I just love fall!!!

Lori and I woke up early had a warm glass of lemon water followed by ENEMA! Yep we did! Neither one of us was hugely successful (sorry are next few posts are going to be pretty open and at times rough to read, although this is an important part of our detox…to emotionally detox as well) but what did happen did already make us feel better, so we cannot wait to go full force….we will discuss more tomorrow what we are doing for our cleanse in more detail. (we are still figuring it out)

Our lovely breakfast was another GREEN SMOOTHIE


Collard greens, parsley, banana, figs (fresh figs that we have had frozen), lime, turmeric and stevia. We are trying to get more greens, as we learned from our fellow raw friends we were not getting enough greens!

So far we are doing really well with increasing our greens, although still need to up our water more!

Twins Workout: total time 90 minutes

Since it was so nice out we decided to go outside for our workout. We started off just walking for about 45 minutes (hills naturally included) then ran 2 miles around the nearby lake and ended the last leg home with 30 seconds sprints/1 minute walk, which was extremely hard because it was against the wind plus uphill. But we made it…

And both of us felt amazing…felt like we were moving a lot faster! Must have been from the Enemas : ) It really does make a difference when you unload your colon…you really feel “lighter”

We did something else new today…we did not wear our usual running shoes to workout. Tim at running raw, told us you don’t need shoes…that our feet our built so you can run barefoot!! Then I saw on Twitter from FitSugar about athletes running barefoot. It sure is interesting the way the world works that things come across your path right when you need it? FitSugar posted this article right when I got back from my run, interesting eh!

We were our Nike Free shoes


The funny things is a few years ago we bought these shoes for this purpose. We always knew that our feet liked these shoes, but society pulled us in and everyone said you need proper shoes…huh…how come my proper running shoes always give me problems in my shins, ankles, and knees?

Today my run in my Nike Frees I really felt free. I felt light and had NO PAIN in my shins, ankles, and knees.  Lori and I were just in the process of ordering our marathon shoes, so we are now rethinking our soon to be purchase. We will let you know what we decide.

Post-workout shake: Vega with bee pollen and yacon syrup!!


We tested our glass straws we bought at 105 degrees…we love them!

Time to eat my huge salad…1.5 lbs of greens/avocado/onions/garlic to be exact. Since it was so big we decided to wilt it down using a little olive oil, lime juice, and apple cider vinegar and then worked our love in while massaging to with our hands.


Salad on right is the one we have started to wilt.


Of course added our favorite toppings nutritional yeast, dulse, and black sesame seeds…we plan on slowly chewing our salad, another key to our detox…actually chew our food : )

And yay for big salads. I definitely use the serving bowl for my salads :) . Sometimes less is not more!

That’s so interesting about the running shoe thing. I’ve wanted to try running without shoes ever since I read an article about it, but I was afraid I’d step on something sharp. I’m going to look into those Nikes.

Wish I had a twin to run with! Y’all seem like so much fun!

Girl I eat while I read blogs so forgive me if I am not commenting on yours for the next few cuz your poopie chatter is making me lose my appetite :)

Glad you liked my tropicaloat pics and I Read your comment about my coconut milk kefir on HEABs post…make it, it’s so easy and awesome!

Anyway good luck with the cleanse stuff and if I am gone for a few, it’s cuz I eat while I blog surf!

Ooh ladies! I’m glad I found your blog! I loved reading your About page. I look fwd to reading as you cleanse. I saw ya’ll on Gina’s blog while you were at 105 together and you just radiate joy. Love it so much! Love love!

I would love to know more about bee pollen.. I have read up on the benefits a bit so far but think I see a mini research session in my near future (aka tmrw!) :)
