Poor green smoothies

by Lori and Michelle on November 24, 2009

Hey everyone

Can you all believe Thanksgiving is 2 days away?? Have you started prepping your holiday meals? We have not, but hopefully tonight we will be able to get some prep work done. Lucky for us all the girls in our family like to cook/bake so we are not the only ones responsible for the meal. Plus everyone eats differently in our house, so pretty much you cook or uncook your own food if you want to eat.

Last night we did manage to get a 12 mile run in with the older sis. Sure felt good to finally get in good sweat in. Lori and I have not worked out since Friday.  One down side to traveling you do not always have the luxury of working out all the time. But hey you do what you can, right?

We enjoyed 2 not so great green smoothies yesterday. We are really missing our Vita-mix.  Our older sister has been interested in green smoothies, but did not have a blender. So we brought down one of our older ones before we got a Vita-mix. It does pretty good, but the texture is a little chunky than we prefer. So we have been having to deal with poor green smoothies   : ( Although, our sis has already asked for a nicer blender for Christmas…yay for green smoothies!!

Yesterday’s lunch we had an avocado and another raw sauerkraut from Glaser Organic farm . This one was just a basic red cabbage.

It was alright,  not as good as our homemade sauerkraut

But it was not bad once we added some nutritional yeast

Although we were still hungry so we had a few slices of our raw onion green flatbreads

While our sister was at work we got busy doing work at her place.

Here is our home away from home office or we call it our traveling office

IMG_1937Pretty isn’t ? ;) Only thing required is a floor and outlets.

Now here is our older sister’s home office

Her’s a little bit nicer than ours :(

We did manage to get a good bit of work done! And than went of our 12 mile run that evening followed by a simple hemp protein shake!

Today’s eats have been pretty much the same… green smoothie, snacks of onion breads and macaroons and we each got one of these to drink in our car ride down to Ft. Myers. We got our sister hooked on these too : )

Sorry for the poor quality pictures and random eats, we promise it will get better this week.

Now it’s time to head home : )  We will check in later!

Till next time,

L&M

I have been having the same issues with the greens in my smoothies. I had a $30 that I had been using- just dreaming of a vitamix- and a few weeks ago, I tried one final time, and let that bad boy run for about 10 minutes.. It didn’t make a bit of difference, still chunky and gross.. I was so mad I finally tossed that lame blender away.. I still have no vitamix, and now no blender at all :-( Maybe one day!

Yeah vita-mix seems to do a great job! I might have to upgrade my sister to one so she can really start enjoying green smoothies more :)

Hey girls! Sounds like the trip is continuing to go well and glad you are getting some good time with your sister, I know I’m enjoying that as well :)

I’m dying to get a Vita-Mix! I’ve been making green smoothies out of my old Cuisinart blender for over 2 years! It works pretty well, but sometimes I have to hold onto the blender and shake it to make it blend better… ha ha

Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving with your family!!

*gasp*

Oh!! You MUST tell me how to make raw sauerkraut! If there’s one thing I’ve been missing then it’s my good old sour red cabbage!

And sorry about your blenderlessness :( … my handblender just recently perished, so I know how you must feel.
