Hello friends,
It is almost the weekend
I know everyone is happy about that!
Here is a re-cap of our day 2 of our Candida Cleanse
Breakfast: green smoothie sludge (granny smith apples, flax meal, dino kale, ginger, cinnamon, lemon zest, stevia)
Smoothie turned out be more sludge, thick like so we ate it with a spoon. Actually really enjoy it
I know we can be weird.

*saved half of this smoothie to be part of our pre-workout snack which we added some coconut oil to it for energy
Snack: one glass of homemade kombucha tea
Post-workout snack: rice protein, stevia, maca, and fresh parsley and mint
Dinner: wilted kale salad with avocado and apple cider vinegar

Dessert: warm sesame sunflower seed milk with stevia and cinnamon
Supplements: candex morning and evening, oil of oregano twice a day, L-glutamine twice a day, probiotic twice a day
How are we doing:
Well all of our meals have been delicious. We are actually liking these very simple meals. Our bodies are craving them!!
Although we have been missing a few of our sweet treats but managing to get by
We both know our bodies need this cleanse so we are sticking to it. It is hard especially since we bake all day for our customers orders!
How is our face/skin doing? Well no improvements yet. Had a few more little breakouts randomly over the face. Though I know things sometimes have to get a little worse before they start getting better, Gena reminded me of this
I am trying to stay positive through it all.
Now for some fun stuff! Awards! Now who doesn’t like awards ;

Thank you, girls, so much for posting about your candida cleanse. I am 30 years old and just this year developed really bad acne. I also figured out I have gluten allergies and dairy allergies. My acne has only slightly improved with my diet (and yes, I’m impatient about the process!) Tomorrow I’m going to an MD who is very holistic in nature (but still covered by insurance) and I’m going to bring up the potential yeast connection. Because of your post I started doing research on candida and research is now starting to show there is a connection between candida and gluten allergies!!! It’s like putting together a puzzle, isn’t it?? Thanks again for your post – it’s helping me along my path.
I am so glad you found our blog Christina. Yes it is like putting a puzzle together. good luck at the doctors, I hope she can help. Please let us know how it goes.
Gena is VERY wise, so definitely listen to her!
Voted!
Yes Gena is very wise, love her. Thanks for voting Liz!
just voted! you girls are the best!
Thank you Kristen : ) we appreciate your support!
I’m going to vote right now! Thank you for including all of us in your journey of getting rid of the Candida!
Thanks Lori and Lauren for your support with the votes!
Good luck with the votes!
I’ve noticed the last several days that you’re continuing to eat fermented foods on your candida cleanse. Counterintuitive to everything I’ve been taught about candida albicans, so I’d love to know why Gena recommends this. [I don't know how to subscribe to your comments to receive a reply, so maybe you can address this question on your next post. Thanks!]
EarthMother, thanks for your question about the fermented foods. I went back and forth on eating it or not. I finally decided after some research (I did not talk to Gena about this – I actually forgot to ask her) on Candida diets I found that some say you can have them as long as you make them yourself which I do. Some research I read you can eat fermented foods but some suggest waiting a few weeks before incorporating them. But so far my research says fermented foods are ok to eat. And I am going off how my body feels and wants… and currently it is wanting fermented foods. But I will keep an close eye on how my body is doing and consider watching my fermented foods if it comes to that. I appreciate your concern.
Hi Girls!! Congrats on your nominations, I was nominated too, in 3 categories, including sexiest raw vegan of 2009! haha! I’ll take it though!
I voted for you too and wish you both nothing but the best. And good luck with the candida cleanse…I know for some people, candida is a YEARS long thing and they make huge progress with the cleanses and then it takes time for it to completely resolved but yeah…I know you’re on the right track and hopefully you’ll be 100% in super short order!
We’re off for the trip. In like 4 hrs. If I am not as good with my commenting the next few weeks, please forgive
You know Im reading and loving you..always!
Averie you are the best! Have a safe trip. Can’t wait to hear all about it
I am anxious to see how this works for you. I have been incorporating more raw foods into my daily diet. But, my skin is still breaking out! I just don’t know how “hard core” I can be about eating raw vegan. I enjoy it, but I am not sure if I can commit to it 100%. It is hard with children and a husband who is not interested in eating this way at all!
You are both beautiful women! Good luck to you!
Thanks Carrie, eating 100% raw can be hard but it is a journey. There is no reason you have to go hard core right away. Just by eating some raw foods in your diet is great! Do what you can when you can!!!! Your skin will calm down, you might be going through a detox. We did and still are. But we are hopeful!!! Hang in there
Let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you so much for the details on your Candida cleanse! Now that I’m getting back on track after my trip, I’m thinking of doing a brief cleanse for the next two weeks before Christmas– I’ve been reading Detox 4 Women, and it sounds like the suggestions are very similar to Gena’s.
Congrats on the nominations!!! I’ll be sure to vote for you girls.
Thanks Megan, detox 4 women is a great book. Gena is a great resource! Thanks for your votes. Let me know if you have any questions!!! Take care
Thanks for the post on the Candida cleanse! Hang in there!
About the hormone issue… have you ladies tried chaste tree? I take it in pills and in a tincture form. It’s helped regulate my cycle and cured my PMS depression.
I know I sound like spam right now, but I swear I’m not!
Just an aspiring, obsessive herbalist with IBS.
oh! i love the looks of that sludge!! eating anything with a spoon is super fun
good luck on the awards girls!
I keep trying to vote for you girls but the site keeps freezing up?!?!
Stephanie you are not the only, we have heard that from others. Sorry, but thank you for continuing to try!!
