What pasta and cheez for lunch?

by Lori and Michelle on January 20, 2010

Hey friends,

I hope you all get a chance to make the key lime pudding and enjoy it as much as we do. Though you do have to love limes ;)

As you can tell we have updated our blog look. We wanted it to more simple and easy to read. (if you are in google reader you will have to go to our blog to see our new look and let us know what you think) We like it! It is simple just the way we like things – clean and simple. Thanks for the great feedback on twitter.

We received a lovely package in the mail the other day. The great people over at Vega and Sequel Naturals asked us if we would like Brendan’s new book to review it. We said of course! We are huge fan of his first book and we are always in the market to learn new things.

Yesterday our day started with green smoothie which kept us full till lunch time. Love that.

Lunch was phenomenal! Totally hit the spot for the both of us! We created a new sauce for our lucky gift of health basket customers and had to try it out with kelp noodles. Total success! We think everyone is going to love it.

We mixed in some of our raw fermented veggies into the mix to make a glorious lunch. Great thing about kelp noodles is that the are perfect for those of you who are “pasta” lovers but the best part is that they are extremely low in calories and are so GOOD FOR YOU! And you don’t feel bloated, heavy, tired, or just blah after eating them compared to white pasta.

So colorful isn’t ?

All mixed together.

Best part about lunch was the ‘new’ cheezy bread we created to wipe the bowl clean.

This cheezy bread is gluten free, vegan, tree nut free, and RAW. Fantastic in our opinion!! Maybe we are bias! ;)

Perfect bread dipper.

We also enjoyed water kefir throughout the day and a delicious pre-workout snack before yoga plus our red beauty juice.

Jan 2010 pics 785A little creation we just threw together – a mix of coconut oil, mesquite, yacon syrup, bee pollen (yes we know not vegan but we love it). Stir and enjoy.

Workout:

1 hour power yoga class at Blue Lotus Yoga Studio.

Must admit we were both pretty nervous for this class though we did a Vinyasa class last week and loved it! The teacher was great and the class kicked our butts. We did lots of poses that we have never really done before that really showed us were we need work.

Left the class feeling awake and OPEN. We did mostly heart opening and hip opening poses. Fantastic!

We hope to continue our yoga journey. We are not sure what class or when we will do it again, but we hope we can make it work with our budget.

Dinner was a simple coconut kefir shake with cilantro, maca, stevia, carob and sunflower lecithin.

Dessert: two of our raw brownie bites

Not a bad day eh?!?! ;)

Kelp noodles are hard to come by. We have to buy online at natural zing. I think there might be some other online resources. I highly recommend them though! :)

Kelp pasta can taste quite delicious, but those veggies, next to it look delicious.

Are you ladies still doing the candida cleanse? I followed your lead and jumped on it almost a week ago. I did not even realize how easy it can be not to miss sugar at all–I end up eating 1-1.5 greannie smith apples a day, and maybe .5-1 grams of stevia, outside of that I have not had a problem with missing my normal dates and fruit. It’s been almost a week for me and I am looking forward to how well my body will feel when I am done.

Elena, we will discuss more of what we are doing with the candida cleanse tomorrow. So glad to hear that your candida cleanse is going well. And you are right sometimes taking sugar out is not that hard especially if you are at the point where you have no other options ;) We love granny smith apple and our stevia!!!

Man, you two definitely make some beautiful, delicious looking food! That sauce for the kelp noodles looks great. I have yet to find something that really hits the spot on top of those noodles.. but I love them anyway.

Is Brendan Brazier’s new book, new? It looks VERY similar to his other one… hmmm. Let us know how you like it.

And, finally, it’s great to hear that you enjoyed your yoga class! The energy of a studio class is beyond anything else (well, except for a yoga retreat!!). Keep up the high energy and positive opening feelings!

Love the site, just simple, clean, easy to read, not cluttered, perfect!

The yoga. Glad you got your butts kicked and realize you have room to grow…that’s actually great b/c as a teacher, if my students walk out feeling like they’ve got everything mastered, I don’t feel like i have done my job :) I want them to come back knowing and wanting for more!

And I just got the Thrive book too. Just posted bout it!

I absolutely love those seaweed noodles. :) I made a hot/sour miso soup and added the noodles to it, with some chopped cabbage, and it was amazing :)
Those pickles look absolutely fabulous, though! Do you have a recipe?
