Hello friends,
Not the most prettiest day here in the NC :/ But that is ok because it is supposed to be a glorious day this Saturday which is great news for our farmers market
Michelle and I wanted to briefly share with you all in regards to where we stand on Candida cleanse. As you saw during our marathon we were not following the diet because we needed the sugars from the bananas, dates, and agave nectar for energy
And ever since being back we have been doing better at getting back on track.
It was a nice treat having some ‘sugar’ again though we did notice some breakouts on our face which may have been from the sugars, stress from marathon, or stress from traveling?!?! Still unsure exactly. The few days from being back from the race we did eat a little bit more non raw foods (more than we typically do) so that might have caused the breakouts as well. It took us a few days to get our regular routine of eating back! I guess we kept telling ourselves “Hey, we just ran a marathon we can what ever we want.”
Therefore we are planning on following the Candida ‘meal plan’ that we did a few weeks ago. And the food we listed for helping out with hormones we also incorporate into our diet. Basically again we are being very careful of our sugars and rotating our foods as much as possible!
Our morning started with a delicious purple kale apple blueberry smoothie with all of our typical fixings’.
Lunch was a simple cilantro salad with fermented veggies topped with hemp seeds and apple cider vinegar!
Along side a cup of carob hot chocolate sweetened with stevia and a little coconut butter
Sipped on some homemade kombucha in the afternoon. Than dinner was a creamy, velvety, chocolaty avocado carob chia seed pudding! Another recipe that our gift of health basket customers will be receiving
This has become one of our all time favorite chia seed puddings
This one is going to be a keeper!!!!
We stayed up extremely late doing work so we got the munchies
therefore trying to be good girls we ate some more raw sauerkraut! But we have been bad in the department of eating late at night again (mainly due to our schedule) that we have been noticing that both of us have not been sleeping. Starting today we are REALLY going to try not to eat past 7pm! To see if that helps us sleep any better.
What are your thoughts on eating late at night and sleeping? Does it affect your sleeping or not? Do you see a difference in how you sleep and feel the next day compared to when you stopped eating the night before??
Workout:
Did about 45 minutes of a mix of ExerciseTV shows. Since we won the amazing giveaway from the lovely Stephanie we have been trying out a variety of fitness shows from ExerciseTV. There are just so many to choose from though we definitely like Jillian Michaels short programs
Well time to get to baking un-baking
Till next time

I do my best to not eat after 8pm. I’ve noticed that when I eat late and go to bed, I either get a stomach ache or night sweats. Not all the time, but usually.
I kept a food (and everything) journal and noticed this about myself.
I’m torn on late-night eating. I always get a stomach ache if I lay down immediately after eating, so I try not to eat two hours before I plan on going to bed… but I also find I have trouble sleeping if I’m starving, too! I guess you’ll just have to experiment and figure out what’s best for you! I typically eat my dinner around 7:30 or 8, but I don’t go to bed until midnight usually, so that works for me.
I hope you ladies inspire me to work on a candida cleanse of my own! It’s really difficult to cut back on sugar after the holidays, especially when it’s cold and rainy outside. But I think the benefits might be worth it!
Good luck!
Megan, thanks! Yeah we hope to go deeper into the candida program and really be good
It is hard but when it is over it is worth we feel
Lately we have been going to bed at midnight or later, so trying to go to bed earlier too, it is hard with our schedule always up late doing work!
I try to be done by 8 pm, if possible, but since i am a late owl, there are times I have munchies around 9, so I snack but very light. For me, if I eat late and go straight to bed, I wake up feeling graugy and my stomach feels funny [full, unsettled, misarable]. I always make it a point to stay up for at least an hour in a vertical position before my last food intake before going to sleep. But 8 pm is my ideal time. 7 is just way to early since I don’t go to sleep until 10-11 pm [which I really should change also].
Elena, we hear you on trying to go to bed earlier. The weird thing is we typically eat around 8 or so for dinner and go to bed at midnight or so but that hasn’t been helping. So going to go for 7pm dinner and see how we do. Ugh, the joys of being happy and healthy
Definitely agree with feeling graugy upon rising and stomach never happy when we eat late or go to bed real late. You think we would have learned by now to change, but it is HARD!! LOL!
I love ExerciseTV! I record the Yoga shows for the days I can’t hit the gym.
Brooke Townsend (sp?) yoga is very relaxing. She seems like such a nice lady.
Ashley, thanks. I will have to look into the Brooke Townsend yoga program
“cup of carob hot chocolate sweetened with stevia and a little coconut butter”–that looks and sounds sooooo good and warming. it’s pouring rain and nasty here for the last 4 days.
Late night eating…well, unfortunately with a child, a husband, nap and work scheudules, we eat dinner way later than most. We are more European
over here with the 9-10pm dinners. I always used to think late eating was bad, but for us, it’s just the way it is. It doesnt mess with my sleep, thankfully.
Averie, I hear ya on busy schedule causes eating patterns to change. Glad to hear that it works for you
It is weird because sometimes it does not bother us and than some nights it does!!! Grrr! HAHA
Eating at night is my biggest pet peeve. I know that you’re not supposed to “technically” eat two hours before you go to bed. However, I think the earlier you stop eating the better. I try to eat a large lunch and very light dinner. It makes a huge difference in how I fall asleep and how I feel in the morning. If I go to bed a little to very hungry I wake up feeling clean, happy and motivated. If I eat late at night then I my heart beats fast at night and I have a hard time falling asleep. The next morning I feel heavy and sluggish and I don’t want to eat breakfast. I know all the health “experts” are saying that it doesn’t matter when you eat it’s what you eat but it does make a difference. I lost 35lbs in 2 months (which I know sounds crazy but it was natural and I didn’t starve) because I stopped eating at night.
Wow Becky, you sound just like me when you said about your heart beating fast at night, I have been experiencing that same thing! I agree with you for some people that not only what you eat but when you eat it can make or break your sleep! That is so great about you losing 35lbs by just not eating late at night
Good Job!!!!!
How could I get the recipe for that delicious looking pudding? I was slightly confused by the “gift of health basket” thing.
Also, where do you get those fermented veg? Do you make it yourself or do you by ‘em?
We make the fermented veggies – we will post on that soon – on how to make them yourself. Very easy. The gift of health is our company’s “new year” gift basket that you buy and you received recipes and goodies from us to help jump start your new year with incorporating some raw foods into your lifestyle.
I’m so glad I found your blog! I’ve been trying to eat more raw, so I’ll definitely be coming here for inspiration!
I am glad you found us Anna!
I’m a big fan of not eating late. While I think it’s fine to eat on the later side if you’ll be upright for an hour or two before bed, I find that my energy triples if I don’t munch late!
