The night before our Disney Marathon

by Lori and Michelle on January 9, 2010

Hello friends,

How is everyone’s Saturday going?!?

Our day started pretty darn early cheering our older sister in the half marathon this morning.

After an interesting and cold morning we quickly got ready for our bloggers lunch that the lovely Ashley put together. Thanks again Ashley!

Met a bunch of amazing ladies (and men) at the Peach Valley Cafe in Orlando,FL. It was a great gathering we really enjoyed ourselves! :)

As we I mentioned before we had a little snack before leaving because we were not sure if we would find something to eat.

On the way to the restaurant we drank coconut water to keep us hydrated.

I ordered a bowl of fruit…I ate everything besides the melons, I do not like melons.

Lori ordered just a plain avocado, but she missed her freshly squeezed lime juice and sea salt :(

We got to sit across these amazing ladies!

Caitlin, Melissa, and Sabrina

And the wonderful Meghann sat next to us : )

Everyone else’s food looked amazing and all seemed to enjoy it  : )  We had a great time talking with everyone and looked forward to one day meeting them again in the future.

Here are some pictures from today’s lunch. Good luck to you all in your race and sorry some of our conversations were not as long as we would have liked, we will do better next time ; )

Then before heading back to the hotel to rest up we ran into Fresh Market to pickup some lemons (must stay alkalized) and mango flavored coconut water.

marathon week pics 300 We came back and made our homemade Spirulina sports drink that helped our sister complete her race today.

Here are our sports bottles ready to go.

And dinner was a a slice of green onion bread (we just love them) and green kale smoothie (staying alkalized) topped with coconut oil  (energy powerhouse) and maca (stress reducer)

We also enjoyed some Zico Coconut Water – Mango flavor which is a new flavor for us. Typically we liked the plain coconut water but this was not too bad. A tad sweet but refreshing, though do like the plain coconut water better. We are just not big fans of flavored water type drinks.

Benefits of the things you have been seeing us eat:

Green smoothies – all the vitamins and minerals our bodies need to sustain a race, like iron which you lose during exercising

Maca – great for stress, supports immune system, and can increase energy and endurance

Dulse – full of electrolytes and trace minerals, keeps us hydrated

Coconut oil – Full of lauric acid, good fat for energy, best source for fuel

coconut water – full of electrolytes, keeps us hydrated

fermented foods – full probiotics to keep our tummies happy, predigested foods so our tummies do not waste time digesting foods, just give our bodies the energy it needs

Yacon syrup – lower glycemic sugar that is full of mineral and prebiotics, which help keep friendly bacteria in us

Dates/bananas – great source for sugar that is converted into energy

If anyone has any questions, please leave a comment and we would happily answer them!

Now here all the goodies we will have before, during and post race!

Pre-race snack 1 – Date spirulina pudding – we will eat while getting dressed early in the morning

Pre-race snack 2- Coconut chia pudding – we will eat this about 20-30 minutes before the race

And a variety of little balls that we will enjoy throughout the race with our Spirulina sports drink

Post-race meal – Banana Maca Pudding – we will eat when race is over

Sorry for the long post, but we are not sure when we will get our race re-cap.

Good luck to all runners! We will continue to heal and grow stronger with our raw vegan diet. We hope to give you tips and guidance throughout our journey :)

Good night everyone hopefully we can check in with you all tomorrow to let you know we are alive :)

Till next time, here we go with our second marathon!
