Our love for some old favorites

Friday, February 5, 2010 at 08:25 AM

Good morning luvs,

Happy Friday to you all!

Lori and I are so happy to see that everyone is loving our chocolate gluten free vegan layered cake!!!! The cake was rich and delicious :) We found out that if you put it into the dehydrator for a little bit it warms it up!!! Heavenly!!!

Jan 2010 pics more 702

We will do a post soon about all the ‘special’ ingredients that we used in the layered cake! We are still learning how to use some of them to get the best results! We plan to recreate this cake without using any nuts!!!

Hard to believe another week went by. Though Lori and I have been managing to eat some really great food ;)

Lots of our favorite breakfast : green smoothies

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 004

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 097

Some coconut kefir shakes

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 020

Creamy and thick :) carob mint avocado pudding

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 014

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 009

Sauerkraut and fermented veggies mix with grinded up hemp seeds (helps make it look like crumbled cheese ;) ok well at least to me it does

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 021

Made some chia puddings

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 058This was mixed with some mesquite (which we used to use all the time and forgot how much we love the flavor it provides), and yacon powder We love Navitas Naturals!

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 049 and than drizzled coconut butter on top

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 062

Seriously coconut butter is such a little treat for us :) Best thing ever!!! I think Katie and Krissy would agree! :)   Lori and I can’t get enough of this stuff!  It is like having icing on a cake ;)

Also enjoyed some of Lori’s favorite raw sauerkraut – red cabbage base with a little bit of kale in there.

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 043

Also created a veggie sandwich

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 078I took our Pure2Raw collard green flatbread, some romaine leaves, and tahini!

Easy, full of flavor and texture, few ingredients, and quick dinner :) Love it!!!!

How I made it:

Grab ingredients

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 069Layered onion flatbread with loads of tahini :) love this stuff too!

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 072

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 073 Anything with tahini on it creates a perfect marriage in our opinion!!

Than time to build sandwich, you just take your romaine and layer the leaves between your tahini covered bread!

And you have yourself a veggie sandwich that is gluten free :) YAY! feb 2010 pure2raw blog 083Than time to devour the sandwich

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 084 Fantastic!

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 087

And than if you did not have enough tahini you can dip in a pure2raw pumpkin kale cracker into it ;)

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 088

But last nights dinner was a treat and made us think of Heather :)

We roasted some Kabocha squash with some sautéed asparagus.

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 100

And we drizzled our quick easy 2 ingredient sauce:

Nutritional yeast and coconut oil

And sprinkled cinnamon and coriander seeds to finish the dish

feb 2010 pure2raw blog 102

We have forgotten how much we love roasted squash. It has been too long and we are sad that the winter squash season is coming to an end ; (

The flavors blended so well and literally just melted in our mouths. We love coriander!! We can see how this is Heather’s favorite squash.

Our friend Lori had a fun way to enjoy sea vegetables with squash, we will have to try that next time ; )

We are preparing ourselves for another cold, wet, snowy weekend!! But we are excited for the big game, have some fun food we are making ; ) and will share our Superbowl eats!!

Till next time,

Michelle

I just got some coconut butter and I am LOVING it. I am thinking of having it on a sweet potato tonight – so incredible! Also, that cake looks to die for.

I’m in love with coconut butter, too! It really is like frosting. Glad you girls enjoyed the squash! I recently tried that variety for the first time, too, and it was really tasty. :)

Coconut butter is heavenly! I secretly eat spoonfuls of that stuff… Just not often… but it’s great by itself! And of course, Tahini! Yum!

And thanks for the link to the sea veggie post! There’s just so much to do with those sea veggies and seaweeds!

    :) HAPPY FRIDAY!

Sarah, you would love mesquite! Yes a little smoky flavor, hint of cinnamon. Works well in baking too! Goes good with bananas, caramel, and gingerbread/molasses flavors! A little goes a long way!

Hello Katie! Thank you for you comment! Nutritional yeast should be avaiable at most health food stores. If not you can buy in online, I know Amazon sells it. We like Red Star or Bob’s Red MIlls brands!

hey girls, love your eats and would love the post you mentioned you may do about where you get what, what brands of what item you love, etc. I have my faves but honestly i dont like to mail order b/c it’s just another expense but then again, it’s like, I have to b/c I refuse to pay WF prices.
The cocoa butter looks divine as does that vegan gf raw bread!! OMG I need to make some!!!

I just bought some Artisana tahini! :) I’m so excited to try it, but I have to wait until my other jar of already opened tahini is done before I eat it :S grrr…
I also ordered some vegan raw chocolate from one lucky duck and it’s SO good. :)
those chia seed puddings look amazing! Thanks for reminding me – I’ll try to remember to buy some today when I go to Whole Foods.
