Again sorry for the short post yesterday, we had a long day. Got up early for the farmers market, which was a great a day to be outside! The sun was out  ; )

Following the market we attended our first farmers market meeting. It was the annual meeting, where all the vendors come together and discuss the market, budget, etc. I must say it was interesting…and long. It went on for about 4 hours ugh. But we are very excited to be apart of a Nationally Recognized Farmer Market. The Carrboro’s farmers market even has been in magazines such as Bon Appetite!! We are ranked third in the nation.

Working at a farmers market has its ups and downs, just like any other job. But it is fun to get out of the house and talk with our customers!!

Do you support your local farmers market? If yes, Great!! If no, why? Do you not have one in your area?

We are very lucky to say we are surrounded my amazing farmers!

We did not workout yesterday…gasp..But we are okay with it, because life just sometimes gets in the way.  And your body does need a break! Although our goal today is to fit a workout in…Tracy Anderson and yoga hopefully!

We have been seeing and hearing about a lot more people giving fermented foods a try!!

So in honor we wanted to share with you all our fermented food/drink stations

Komucha and Kefir

Kombucha and Kefir

Kombucha…nicely dated, got to love sticky notes!

IMG_4442

Water kefir and coconut kefir…we do these every other day so we do not date them

IMG_4445We have made kraut and fermented veggies a few times here on the blog

What is under the towel?

What is under the towel?

IMG_4452Lots of kraut and veggies! Again love all the sticky notes!!

Then you make yummy meals like these with fermented foods

We know fermented foods can be scary, but once you do make them a few times you will see how easy they are….and become addicted like us!  Would you all like us to do some more videos on how we make our fermented foods? Just let us know!

We got a busy day…lots of prep work for the week ahead, cleaning, paying bills, cleaning out garage, and other house work!

Till next time,

Michelle

Wow, lots of fermenting going on over here! ;-)

I’ve been sampling various Kombucha teas but I’ve never tried to make my own. Hmmmm….

Thanks for linking to my Glass Dharma giveaway!

And, yes, I know all about farmers markets. I LOVE them. I enjoy selling at them during the warmer months and also love supporting the vendors.

I ♥ locally grown/made food/items.

:-D

So exciting about the Farmer’s Markey! I don’t know the first thing about fermenting, so I’d love a video to learn how! Thanks for linking to all the giveaways!

You’re inspiring me to enter into the world of fermenting…words I never thought I would type :) Do you have a suggestion on which to try first?

Your fermented foods always look so good… I keep saying I’m going to try some of the recipes but I find them intimidating! What’s a good one to start with? Sauerkraut seems easy enough, right?

I would love if you both did some videos on fermenting. I do find it a bit scary. If I see if being done though, then I know I can do it. I thing most women learn from seeing.
I’m mostly interested in Kombucha and coconut kefir.
We have a small market here that will start in Spring but I don’t really go to it often. There are two great markets within an hour drive, again not until Spring. I can’t wait.

That’s quite an impressive assembly line you’ve got there! I make a big ceramic crockful of kraut and draw some to put in the fridge every 5 days or so. It’s interesting watching how the tastes develop over time.
I want to try kombucha and water kefirs again, but I’m not convinced that all the sugar is predigested so I’ve been avoiding it cause sugar makes me break out unfortunately. Maybe I’ll try again in the summer. Thanks for all the fun pics, girls!! Love it.

I love fermented foods but confess I havent made anything beyond kefir. I need to really get on the bandwagon.
Never apologize for short posts…we all have lives! and lack of working out? Well sounds like you worked your butts off all day at the markets! Thanks for all these contest links, I love your support for everyone in the sphere!

I would love to see more video how-tos of the fermented goodness you’ve got going on. :) Sprouting and fermenting…two things that terrify me but that I really want to try.
