Hello friends,
We are happy to see that everyone enjoyed the truffaroons. Today Michelle and I wanted to discuss about what we have been up to in regards to our eating lately.
Since getting back from Fitbloggin on Sunday and eating our not so typical eats we felt like our bodies needed a little break. Also, changing from season to season is a great time to do cleanses. “Cleaning” out per se to get a fresh start!
Therefore, after discussing what we wanted to do on Sunday evening we have decided to do a mini break from most foods for a few days. We slowly started on Monday but really started yesterday.
I am not going to call it a cleanse or diet or anything like that because it is not! It is just us taking a small break from most foods and eating only fruits and vegetables.
Another reason we felt like doing this ‘break’ was we both were not getting any results in our hormones or skin problems. We felt by eating only fruits, vegetables, and lots of water for a few days and than slowly bring things back into our diets we will than be able to better understand our bodies!
Over the next few days we will be changing things up. We are taking a break from our good fats, seeds, sauerkraut, dehydrated foods, superfoods, powders, and our desserts!
Our plan for the first 2-3 days.
- Drink 14-18 cups of water a day.
- Exercise: yoga
- Drink fresh juice 2 or 3 times a day.
- Eat fresh fruit like blueberries, raspberries, apples, grapefruit
- Steamed veggies if desired.
- One large green smoothie.
- One cup kombucha.
And that’s it.
After these few days we plan on having more green smoothies and adding in some salads with lemon juice only. Depending on how we are feeling will depend when we will slowly start adding in other foods back into our food plan. We hope to take it slow so that we can really learn what works for our bodies and what does not. We just got to the point where nothing seemed to be working so we felt like our body was giving us signs that it was time to take a break from everything. We will keep you all informed on how we are doing. **We have gotten a lot of emails in regards to detoxing. Remember every one is different and will experience different things. Just remember to take it slow and listen to your own body.
Re-caping our first day which was yesterday on this break!
Upon rising yesterday made one cup of warm lemon water.
Ate a spoonful of bee pollen (needed energy to workout)
Workout was 45 minutes of yoga.
Post-workout was a green juice (apples, carrots, celery, romaine) Made each 2 cups of fresh juice.
Snack: 1/4 cup of fresh blueberries and raspberries
Drank 4 cups of water.
Lunch was another juice (grapefruit, carrots, cucumber, beet, beet tops, kale) Made each 1 1/2 cups fresh juice.
Snack: pureed applies with ginger and cinnamon
Drank 4 cups of water.
Drank 2 cups of kombucha.
Dinner: steamed brussel sprouts with some black lava sea salt
Drank 2 cups of water.
Overall we both felt good though did not have much energy (we feel it was still from traveling). Stomachs felt fine throughout the day. Both of faces are breaking out (again from traveling, not eating the best over past few days and hormones still out of control).
Michelle and I are trying to stay positive and know that we are just going through a bump in the road. We both know that we are doing everything we can to help our bodies and it will just take some time. Both of us are very determined to figure out what is going on with us. Hopefully this break from most foods will allow us to find the answers we are looking for! Time will only tell.
For other great read check out our friend Gena’s great post on going vegan and searching for better health. We believe you really just have to find the balance that works for you. Everyone will be different in what works for them! Remember to give your body the chance to find out what optimal health and energy can feel like by being fully aware of what you are eating!
Going to the spring to go get us some fresh spring water
It has been awhile since we have gotten our fresh spring water and I have missed it!
What have you been doing for Spring Cleaning?!?
Till next time,
Lori

Wow – you guys are so inspiring. It must be frustrating and I hope you guys get to the root of it. I have been zapped of energy since the trip, too.
Thanks Jessica, it is not fun having digestive problems let alone hormone imbalance. (sigh) Thanks for your support!
Love this post girls! I could do with something similar in preparation for my time in Oklahoma!
ooo such cool goals!! i cannot WAIT to hear about how they go!! so interesting girls!
Hello girls!!!
Awwwww it stinks not to feel good : (
I am loving that you girls are doing this to see what works for you and to feel better!
I love the plan, I would actually love to do this too!!! I think it is a great way to cleanse and get your energy back!
Thank you for sharing what exactly you girls are doing, it was very cool to read!
Have a great day girls!! I will be excited to see how you feel day after day!! xoxo
So sorry you aren’t feeling your tip top. Good luck with your new plan!
I don’t really believe in spring cleaning or periodic “tune ups” or challenges or whatnot for diet/health. But I would love to take a harder look at my budget this spring!
Good luck to both of you on your journey of cleansing. I don’t know if I could eat just what you two are eating. Although I think I could do a juice feast… I don’t know. I want to try a juice feast but I work out hard pretty much every day and that would probably not be the best thing.
But you will find out what is going on with your bodies. I feel EXACTLY as you do! It’s so frustrating. I suffer from water retention (gaining up to 8 lbs some days), bloating, constipation, etc. I still can’t figure out what is going on with my body either. All raw helped but didn’t solve it. So far, juicing has helped with most symptoms, for which I am grateful.
Trial and error. As much as that is not ideal, it’s the best bet. Good luck girls!
very awesome! the food looks So good! i love fresh eating like this. I can’t wait to see how this ‘spring cleaning’ works out for you! the purried green apple looks So good!
glad to hear that you’re taking a break and that it’s working for you, or hopefully will be, to help you get to the bottom of things and to feel more healthful!
glad you enjoyed my dairy post, yes, getting off it was one of the best things i ever did, that and gluten!
Sounds like a great plan to get things back in order after your trip! I love the pureed apples, they look so fresh and yummy!
hi lovely girls!
sounds like an excellent plan for spring cleaning. i’m cleaning things up over here too since i can’t do cardio for 2 weeks!
hope you’re having a great week <3
xoxo
Hi ladies!
I have been poking around your blog for some time but have not made many comments. I also suffer from skin problems (over 20 years of dealing with acne) and so have been interested in what you are doing with regards to diet and skin care. Research seems to point to three things causing acne – excess oil production, bacteria, and dead skin cells/debris. For me, oil is a huge deal and I blame it as the main culprit. I was wondering what kind of breakouts you gals get, and if you are oily-skinned. Do you think there is a way to effectively balance hormones through diet? I am interested in tackling this, although have not formally made a plan to do so yet, but was wondering what you guys have come up with, if anything at this point, to deal with the breakouts…
Thanks so much!
Jennifer
Jennifer, thank you for the great comment. We will email you some of our thoughts. Take care. The twins
Sorry you have been having digestive problems…me too! After trying kefir that rocked my digestive tract I ended up doing a water fast for 24 hours followed by a colonic. Talk about spring cleaning! For spring I’m strictly following a low-glycemic diet which seems to help my digestion, so far. Good luck and keep us posted!
Thanks Susannah, that does sounds like a great spring cleaning
yes low-glycemic diet has helped us too!
Hey girls, hope the detox goes well & works for you
I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be but it looks like you are taking alot of steps to figure it all out! Have a wonderful Thursday – can you believe it’s already been a week since we were in Baltimore gahhh?!
As much as a love raw sweets, I definitely need a break once and a while, too. Fresh produce is the best!
Oh yay for having hummus again!!!! Did you miss it?? I love it so much!!!!
Oh the gingerade is my fave by far too!!
I hope you girls are starting to feel better! Thinking of you beauties! xoxo
Hi girls! i love the blog. I just wanted to add a little detail from my personal experience with trying to clear up my skin: I eat very clean, vegan, no wheat, etc, but…as soon as an HOUR after I consume the littlest bit of coconut butter (which I lovvvee) I break out. UGH. It sucks. Same with peanut butter, but that takes more like a day or so. Coconut butter is the worst for me…so sad!
Anyway, I wanted to share since I see you use so much of that yummy coconut butter in your recipes…!
Again, love the blog! Keep it up! You girls are an inspiration!
Laura,
We love it! We stay away from peanuts, so we know that is not the culprit! Thanks again for your tip
Thanks for your comment. Your concern and tip is greatly appreciated! We will experiment with how our face does with coconut butter soon. Thanks! I really hope that is not our issue
Good for you ladies for taking the time to see what works for your body and what doesn’t. I wish you all the best and hope that you feel better soon. Travelling takes a lot out of you and it takes awhile to recover. I just got back from a trip on Sunday and I’m still feeling off. you two are awesome and your persistance will pay off in the end:)
