Well now onto our eats. As you all know we have been trying to keep things simple and clean over here. We were doing good up till yesterday. sigh

Lori and I were in the kitchen practicing new recipes, so we had to sample them.  But other than that we stuck to our greens and fruit based food plan, but did add in hemp seeds the other day. Boy have I missed those!! Hemp seeds is the first thing we have really added back into our diet to see how we do. So far so good!

First up was a raspberry blueberry smoothie for our post workout drink with hemp seeds and kale.

IMG_6160Simple and delicious! Though we have come to realize we really do not like berries in our green smoothies we prefer apples or grapefruit! How about you? Do you like berries in your green smoothies or do you prefer other fruits? What is your favorite fruit for your green smoothies?

Second smoothie for the day was a simple basil parsley apple smoothie

IMG_6179Perfect with a little lemon and stevia!

Our dinner a few nights ago was a glorious salad with sauerkraut on top. Another thing we decided to add back into our food plan to see how we do! And our tummies have been very happy with this addition!!!

IMG_6195

Topped the salad with red onions and dulse flakes and lemon juice.

Our eats for yesterday were pretty similar with a few changes.

IMG_6199A beautiful ‘green’ green smoothie just the way we like it!  This one was filled with grapefruit, swiss chard, stevia and fresh ginger!

And we had a red beauty juice for lunch

IMG_6201Juice was beets, carrots, celery, beet tops, romaine, and green onion. Lovely! Later made another green smoothie and a large salad for dinner.

I was doing some more research on hormones and acne lately trying to figure things out. Lori and I have been talking it over and we still feel majority of our breakouts are still hormonal and stress related and not so much the food we are eating because we are eating a very CLEAN diet. But we do believe some of our breakouts are related to our eats especially when we eat a little too much sugar, not enough water, etc than that causes some flare-ups.

We are both learning each day though still a struggle. Both of us are just trying now to take one day at a time and really just enjoy life now no matter what. It is hard but we feel having a positive attitude will only benefit us more ;)

Well, that is the quick update on how we are doing. I hope everyone is having a glorious day!

Till next time,

Michelle

What a great giveaway! I’m sure my 2-week-old niece would LOVE that organic blanket! :D

As always, your eats look fabulous! I’ve noticed that I definitely get breakouts when I consume too much sugar, though it’s more when I consume refined sugar, not necessarily natural fruit sugar! I do find that raw treats (even natural fats and sugars) can set off a weird reaction in my body, though.

And lately, I’ve been adding bananas back into my smoothies! I was avoiding them due to sugar content, but I realized that they are still a better way to satisfy my sweet tooth than some of the other things I was craving… so for now, they’re back in my life! Bananas are by far my favorite smoothie fruit, and I don’t mind blueberries in my smoothies either. Other berries, not so much! Mango and apples are awesome, though!

I only like tropical fruits in my green smoothies. I love mango and pineapple or mango and orange juice or banana and coconut water with any type of green. yum. I don’t like to use berries because it always make green smoothies such an unappetizing color and I don’t like apples because it makes the texture so grainy.

I love bananas. There, I’ve said it. But I try not to have too many because they’re so much higher in sugar… but I still love them. Oh but my absolute favorite smoothie is pear and parsley. Amazing. Simple. GOOD.
I do enjoy berries. And really, I’m not a fan of apples in my smoothie. I just don’t like the texture. I wish I did though… I’ll have to try it again. And I’ve blended grapefruit before but it’s so bitter to me… I’ll have to try one of your smoothie ideas using it.

Keep up the good clean work with your eats! I’m looking forward to using your ideas to help my body cleanse a little.

I would love to win the blanket! What a cute giveaway item :)
As for my favorite fruit in smoothies, I would definitely say banana. I also love cherries in them, but without bananas it never seems to work out very well…
thanks!

What an awesome giveaway! I just became an aunty a little over 2 weeks ago so baby Charlee would love this blankie!
I do love berries in my smoothie..especially fresh blueberries..mmm! I’m not a huge fan of adding apple to my smoothies as I find it gets a big too thick for my liking. I will have to try the grapefruit though sounds awesome! Some other fav fruit to add in would be the tropical fruits like mango, pineapple:)

I’ve been eating avocado in my smoothies all the time lately. I am not a huge berry fan, but I can’t really say why. I love them on their own, but they tend to confuse the taste in the smoothies, or something. Weird, I know.

Lori just posted a guest post of mine today where I talk about my basic smoothie recipes.

I just think that blanket would be PERFECT for my best friend who is expecting in the Fall. I am the “organic-green smoothie-little to no meat” friend so an organic blanket gift would be suitable.

as far as fruit. LOVE bananas. but berries too. too many choices. haha.

Hi Ladies!

I would love to win this blanet because I will be TTC towards the end of this year!

I forgot to mention zinc to you – a lot of people claim it helps with acne. I have always had trouble taking it – I get a burning nausea in my stomach about 20 minutes after I swallow the pill, even when I take it with food, but have been trying to suck it up and take it the past week. We’ll see what happens…

Off topic, but I like the two of you have hormonal acne issues with stress. I started cleaning my face with a cotton swab of regular peroxide morning and night and it has cleared up 95%!

Good luck to you! My favorite smoothie, sweet cherry chocolate bomb.

Great giveaway! I’m going to have a new baby cousin in exactly one week – my aunt is having a ceasarian that day (on my bday!). And I’m sure he’d love to snuggle up in the organic blanket :)

As far as smoothie fruits go… my all-time favourite is frozen bananas. They give green smoothies an awesome creamy quality. Next on the list is frozen blueberries/other berries. Mango is great too! I prefer fruits with a lower water content for green smoothies, especially if adding protein powder.

Anyway, back to the smoothies. I like berries in mine, but almost any fruit will do. I especially like bananas in the cooler months, and look forward to melon in the summer. Yum!

Hey, I love reading your blog and getting great recipes. I wanted to let you know that Anthony’s (Rawmodel.com) girlfriend, Dawn, posted an article about acne on his blog about a year ago. She struggled with acne, even though she was eating a high raw foods diet, and explained her journey, and the things she found to be helpful. This post has tons of great information…check it out.
