Long time no see

Hello Friends

How was your weekend?

Mine has been wonderful. Mom got in town Thursday so I decided to take a few days off (sorry friends but sometimes a girl just needs a break, but I do plan on catching up with all of you). I am glad to see everyone has been enjoying Lori’s trip.

I have been busy here but have been able to relax some and hang out with mom. Although I have put her to work ; )

Well I am going on a mini vacation. My mom and I leave tomorrow for DC!!! I am so excited. My sister and her husband are coming along too. I will do my best to recap my days there.

Here is some of the eats I have been enjoying over these past few days.

Chia pudding smothered in yacon syrup

I have been enjoying lots of grapefruit and carrot cucumber juices!!

Made fermented quinoa, but with a new mac and cheese twist, and steamed broccoli. Mom really enjoyed this meal! I am trying to get her to enjoy more fermented foods. : )

Lots of big salads full of fresh greens from the farmers market…pizza rolls….and red wine ; )

april 2010 p2r blog 052You all know Lori and I always struggled with what to eat before our market, well this past Saturday I had avocado mesquite  pudding sprinkled with coconut nibs for energy!

april 2010 p2r blog 073It kept me full and satisfied at the market! Perfect!! I have to thank the wonderful Gena for suggesting I try avocado to kept me full.

Mom and I of course had ourselves dessert

april 2010 p2r blog 066 Oh and yes there have been plenty of green smoothies consumed…mom loves them!!

april 2010 p2r blog 178Sorry for the poor quality picture on this one.

Overall I have been doing great…surviving without the sis! Miss her though….

Another excited thing was I got to meet this guy

april 2010 p2r blog 044 More on that to come.

You might have noticed I have not been talking much about my workouts. Well that is because I am taking a break. After talking with Brendan, I decided my body needs rest. It is too stressed.  It has been hard not to feel guilty about not working out but I am trying to focus on other things. Having mom here helps plus my mini vacation will too!!

I will discuss more on this later and more about what I learned from Brendan. I was so happy to meet him. He is such an amazing guy. If you have not read his books I highly recommend them. Also if you have the chance to go hear Brendan speak, I would go because you will learn a lot!

Well I got a busy day here.  Next time we talk I will be in DC.

Till next time,

Michelle

Yum, the chia pudding looks great! What exactly is yacon syrup? Does it taste similar to maple?

Hey Gabriela, yacon syrup is a liquid sweetener more similar to molasses than maple. We love it! We discussed it here with some other fun ingredients we just love, http://www.pure2raw.com/2009/11/raw-recipes-coconut-oil-lucuma-stevia-desserts/

I’ve missed you. I wondered where you went. I still need to figure out where you’ll be in the DC area. I know I’m busy this week, but I keep trying to figure out how I can rework my schedule. You did say you’ll be back again, right?

Hey Shannonmarie, I will be mostly in the downtown area of DC. We are staying at the JW Marriott hotel. I get there tomorrow and come back on Friday! And yes Lori and I both planned to come back to DC to hang with you of course!!! We will have to plan it out better. : )

OMG you are posing with a rawk star! I mean with Brendan! As i mentioned i think in an email to you, he was in Phoenix at some WF’s about 2 mos ago but the nights he spoke, I had yoga teaching commitments so i never got to see him. Wow. And for him to give you personalized advice and reassurance to scale back the workouts..that’s fabulous! I love his message and books, still trying to figure out how to drink his Vega :)

Chia pudding smothered in yacon syrup and the cupcakes = awesome!
