Hello luvs,
We just love hearing about what everyone wants from iherb…looks like mesquite, chia seeds, and maca are some top items, we agree! Get your comments in for our giveaway, ends Sunday.
When I was overseas in Paris I had the best seaweed salad, although it reminded me more of a pate. It was so good that I knew I wanted to recreate it when I got home. And finally Michelle and I got ourselves some seaweed.
I present you with my first attempt at seaweed salad….going off memory, we did not write this recipe down, opps! ; )
First check out these local carrots
Pure2raw: Seaweed Pate
Serves 4
Ingredients-
- 1 1/2 cups carrots, chopped
- about 1/3 cup arame
- 2 strands of kelp
- handful of wakame
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 5-6 tbsp tahini
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- juice of one lemon
I soaked the seaweed for a few hours. Then I rinsed them and placed them into the food processor with remaining ingredients. Pulse till combined.
Stirred in some sunflower sprouts for color!!
We ended up stuffing our seaweed pate into romaine leaves.
Delicious simple dinner!
Verdict?
Not too bad for my first attempt. It was not quite like the one I had in Paris, I am thinking they might have used miso or something. But I plan to play around with this recipe some more….I am determined!
What did we do with the leftovers?
Perfect salad companion with fermented quinoa….YES WE EAT quinoa in our salads!! We eat everything with greens!!!!
This is a great way to sneak in seaweed ; )
Have you had seaweed salad? Do you like it? Have you made your own before?

I’ve had seaweed salad and delicious as it is I just can’t eat it!!! The texture and the fact that it’s from the sea really just turns me off, I don’t know why! It’s so sad, I really want to like seaweed haha. I try to sneak sea veggies in by using kelp granules and am fine (sometimes) with nori in veggie sushi but that’s it. That pate looks amazing without the seaweed (I know that defeats the purpose), though! Carrots + tahini, yum!
What does fermented quinoa taste like?? I’d like to try to add more fermented veggies and grains to my diet!
Jackie, fermented quinoa has a little different flavor than regular quinoa. Not really sure how to describe it, it is different but nice. For ours, the liquid probiotic that we use to ferment it has an unique flavor therefore giving the quinoa the same flavor. Not sure what it would likes like if we used a different probiotic.
not really a huge fan of seaweed pates but do like nut pates
but REALLY want those beautiful carrots…so pretty!
i love seaweed. don’t need to sneak it but i like it in pates.
No I want to try seaweed in my salad so bad though! I absolutely LOVE sushi. When I used to eat seafood, I could down sushi rolls like it was my job so I feel like adding seaweed to my salads would actually be an awesome addition to my food! I especially want to try kelp noodles!
Bianka, oh yes, you must try kelp noodles. We love those!!! They are so good
Those carrots are spectacular!! I love how many different colors occur in nature… I’ve not yet really branched out to sea plants but I definitely want to give it a shot!
I love seaweed salad. The seaweed salad I get at sushi places is my favorite. I try to recreate it but it is never as good. I like the idea of making it into a pate, I will try this for sure.
