Hello luvs,
Happy Friday to you all
Lori and I can not thank you all enough! We are so grateful for the wonderful comments from our readers. Thank you for your thoughts and warm wishes for Lori to feel better!!! Thank you for your support!!!!!!!
Many of you mentioned some great points of dehydration and overhydration, among many other great ideas. And Lori and I have been doing research like crazy over here trying to figure it out! The conclusion we are leading towards is overhydration. This past week we have been drinking about 2-3 cups of water before we workout plus about 2 during the workouts. Plus along with our green smoothies, shakes, 6-7 cups of water, 1 cup of kombucha and high water content plant based foods we eat on a daily basis maybe we were getting too much water.
We never thought of overhydration because we are active people and we sweat a lot during our Insanity workouts. Though maybe we were just consume too much water too fast.
Today we are going to watch our water intake carefully and see what happens with Lori. Something else that we have not mentioned on our blog yet because Lori was waiting for the right time. But Lori got blood work done a few weeks ago and just got her test results back. And she wanted to share them all with you.
Her blood work showed that everything is normal except her Vitamin D levels. Lori’s vitamin D levels are extremely low! Therefore she is going to take some Vitamin D supplements and try to get outside more.
We are not sure if this has something to do with her feeling so ill lately but reading the symptoms of overhydration gives us glues that it might be her issue.
But today has been good for her so far, meaning that she has not gotten sick yet
We did not workout this morning and do not plan to until we figure out what is going on.
Isn’t the body such a mystery sometimes?
Just when I thought Lori and I were understand our bodies this happens and now we are completely LOST
We will back later today with some more news – today is our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY on our BLOG!
A bowl of quinoa with hemp seeds, tahini, coconut milk and fresh herbs like parsley and basil!
Here was our late lunch yesterday. And yes Lori sat outside on the patio in the sun while she ate this
This is one version of our gluten free vegan mac and cheese. We have made this a few times.
Till next time,
Michelle

I’ve been looking for some good quinoa recipes, and this one looks great! Thanks! I hope she feels better. I’m glad you two are the type to take charge of your health instead of ignoring it until it gets way worse!
Yep, I’ve been overhydrating – working with a professional now to balance out the fluids and nutrients
P.S. – HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY!!!!
Congrats on the one year blog anniversary!
Overhydration, that’s what I suspected. SO glad you’re feeling better today and adjusting the fluid intake.
Feel better soon, Lori! I hope overhydration’s not the culprit. I drink well over a gallon of water per day…I don’t want to have to worry about that being a bad thing! :]
Happy Blogiversary!! I think it’s great that you ladies are pro-active and getting your bloodwork tested! I worry about my Vitamin D levels, too– you inspired me to drink my juice on the porch this morning, too!
That’s really interesting about the overhydrating– I notice that the more juice/smoothies I drink, the less water I want, so I’m sure drinking too much water on top of all those green drinks could definitely over-do it! Hope you’re feeling back to normal soon!
Happy Blogiversary! I hope Lori will be 100% soon
{{{hugs}}}
Happy Anniversary ladies!
You’ve definitely inspired me to get bloodwork done – I’ve been thinking about getting tests (I know I’ve got low iron levels and I’m concerned about thyroid function) but I haven’t picked up the phone and made it happen. As soon as I’m done writing this I will.
I didn’t even consider overhydration! It’s such a low-noticed concern because dehydration gets a lot of attention, but wow! Yes, sounds like you’re drinking a LOT of water and that can cause some problems! Hope you’re starting to feel better!!
Happy one year!!!
I don’t know how you can drink that much during the Insanity workouts??!?! I drink a glass before, and maybe half a glass during, and then pound some water about a half hour afterwards. I start to feel nautious if I drink more while jumping around like an animal!
Glad you seem to have it figured out.
Wow, that quinoa looks GREAT. I’m assuming you cooked it in the coconut milk and herbs to make it so creamy and orangey.
Anyway, low vitamin D levels can (sometimes) account for many things, subtle things, but still. My boss (doctor) thinks everyone should be taking a 5,000 unit vitamin D sup every day… it does help, and definitely couldn’t hurt.
Overhydration does seem likely and could quite likely be the cause. Yikes!
Feel better!!! Soon!!! Especially cause the weekend is here (almost!).
Also, Happy Blogiversary too!!! Wow! I never would have thought your blog was only a year old! Weird! So awesome though! Congrats!
Yes, a wonderful mystery! It seems that vitamin D deficiency has been linked to just about every ill imaginable, so I’m so glad that you’ve identified that and are working on it. Something else I would add, besides getting lots of sunshine, is to remember that vitamin D is fat-soluble, so make sure to get lots of good fats also.
I supplement with 10,000 IU of vit D/day – before I did that, I was very deficient and with that level, it keeps me in a good range. But I’m Mediterranean-blooded and living in Alaska, so it’s hard to get enough sunlight! Feel better soon!
1. Happy Bloggiversary! I feel like I have been with you two since nearly the beginning..you and RunLori..wow, and my 1 yr is coming up too
2. Thx for the linkback
3. Most americans are Vit D deficient EVEN those ppl who live in sunny places, it doesnt matter. Look into D3. Not just D, but D3. Go on vitacost or iherb and see what you see..I took D3 for awhile but got out of the habit.
Naturopath told me to take it and i did and just have fallen out of it. But…most people with autoimmunue issues OR food allergies…there is also higher liklihood of being D depleted so for ppl like us, it’s even more imp to get it in…anyway, i could go on and on but so glad you’re looking into this!
happy blog birthday!! the body is an amazing amazing mystery and miracle!
Don’t get too bent out of shape over the Vit D! Most people are deficient, regardless of lifestyle or diet. It’s what I call a “living in the modern world” deficiency. Just take the pills and you’ll be good to go
well i am so happy that lori is feeling better today…and even happier that you are both taking a break until further notice…
i agree the body is a very big mystery…but its great that you two are listening to the signs…
happy blog birthday…
and i can’t wait to try your mac and cheeze quinoa…i love all the herbs you used…YUM!!!
Great news, Lori that you’re feeling better! Overhydration- gosh wouldn’t have thought of that one. Interesting. Good news from the bloodwork too. Apparently low vit D levels are getting increasingly common, weird. I need to get my bloodwork done soon.
Happy one year anniversary
Thanks for the info about overhydration! You ladies are always on the up and up with the new discoveries. You are good to keep us all aware and taking care of ourselves.
I have been told by frequent gym goers that there is a danger in drinking water too fast.
However, I’m a little skeptical about the effects of overhydration.
The results are a list of problems that can affect anyone, if indulging in anything too much.
I guess it’s really true what they say – too much of one thing is NEVER good for you. Not even water!
Hope you skyrocket back to feeling better!
Vitamin D deficiency is no joke!
I got my test results back @ 2 months ago(super low level) and have been on liquid D3 supps ever since.
What a difference!
Hope you’re feeling better.:)
