Wrap it up and updates

by Lori and Michelle on June 16, 2010

Hey friends,

Michelle and I started our morning with Insanity- MAX CARDIO!!!!

One word – Crazy and Insane, okay two words ; )

We both felt very fatigued and sore from our first 2 days of Insanity’s max interval training, so today was rough. We could not push ourselves as much as we usually do, but overall still had a great sweaty workout.

Lately we been having the same pre and post workout shake/mush

Pre-workout

june 2010 p2r blog 436 A mix of chia seeds, coconut oil, and bee pollen. Sometimes we add dates or have a few of our mesquite date balls.

Post workout shake has been water mixed with hemp seeds, Vega, chlorella or spirualina and some yacon syrup. Body has really been liking this combo!

june 2010 p2r blog 502I know it might not look appealing to most but promise it is good :)

A little bit later in the morning after drinking our kombucha we made a large green smoothie.

june 2010 p2r blog 452A blend of grapefruit, lemon, swiss chard, turmeric, camu camu, sunflower lecithin and dong quai.

Yesterday’s lunch Michelle and I made something a little special

june 2010 p2r blog 444A raw vegetable wrap. The wrap was a base of cauliflower, carrots ,and flax meal.

june 2010 p2r blog 455 The vegetable’s inside the wrap are pureed beets, carrots, cauliflower with tahini ;) and some romaine pieces!

The wrap was awesome!  We had leftover carrots and cauliflower and thought why not trying to make a wrap out of them! And so we did!  The vegetable wrap was a little crunchy and soft! The wrap did make two but we are using the other one for a pizza crust.

And for dinner we enjoyed a kefir mint chia seed pudding

june 2010 p2r blog 496Creamy and thick :) I love fresh mint! Mint is so refreshing and relaxing! We are trying to incorporate more chia seeds into meals for more calcium plus many other benefits!

Other news:

Hormone update- well it has been one year since I have gone off birth control and this past Monday I finally got my period again! I have been so happy and relieved that all my hard work to get my hormones back into balance is finally paying off. Now I know I am not completely healed just yet, but I am definitely making progress :)   I will keep you all updated on my journey of hormonal balance!

Today’s self care card was: self-love!

This self-love card came at a perfect time for us both. You all know Michelle and I are trying to stay upbeat and embrace each day along with not stressing over the little things in life! Each day I wake up now knowing that I am going to be ok and I have a great support system to help me along the way.

What I did today in regards to self-love I took care of myself by working out and fueling by body with living foods :)

What have you done today that helps remind yourself to love yourself?

Operation beautiful I know is a great cause that helps remind girls that they are beautiful no matter what :)

IMG_9022Michelle put this little note in my bathroom one morning to help keep me smiling :) Thanks sis!

Michelle and I have both been doing really well with keeping a positive attitude and smiling everyday. Our self care cards help get us started with a great focus for the day.

Now off to head to sell at our farmers market this afternoon.

Till next time,

Lori

Congrats on the moon return! I too have finally been understanding recently how important it is for our bodies. And kudos for the inspiration about self love!

Chia and mint – both of them so wonderful. Peppermint at least is mildly stimulating (not like caffeine, though) so I find it interesting that you say it’s relaxing. I suppose it can be both.

love

Thanks Ela, actually for us peppermint is not a stimulate at all. But I guess it can be for some. It actually makes us feel better, which is why we find it relaxing and refreshing ; )

LOL, gotta try me some post workout shake/mush! :D

Loving the sound of the kefir mint chia seed pudding. Share the recipe?

You are blessed to have a terrific sister/cheerleader who leaves you sweet notes on the bathroom mirror. That just warms my heart to no end.

Congrats on getting your cycle back!! So exciting and relieving. I go back and forth trying to decide whether to go off bc or not. I’ve been on it for 9 yrs already. It just makes me nervous bc I’m definitely not ready for babies but I hate having so much hormones being pumped into my body. Love learning through your experiences. Thanks for sharing!!!

Yes Ashley it was a big decision to stop taking the pill. But I am glad I did, but you have to do it when you are ready!

Amber Shea @Almost Vegan June 17, 2010 at 9:43 am

I’ve wanted to try sunflower lecithin AND camu camu! What’s the taste of the camu powder like? It’s so expensive though, argh!

Pure2 June 17, 2010 at 10:21 am

Hello Amber, thanks for the comment. We do not find camu camu to have much of a flavor. We put in our green smoothies, so never really been able to taste it. Yes it is expensive, but a little goes a long with it!

Lori June 17, 2010 at 11:46 am

That wrap looks delicious! Mmmm! I think I pretty much write the same thing with every comment… and it’s always something like, “Wow, that looks amazing!” Wow, That looks great!” “Yum!” etc. And only because all of that is true!
So glad you’re hormones are behaving themselves, at least for now! (I still have only had my period once in 2 years now… ug). You’re doing all the right things so hopefully things work out.
Anyway, Operation Beautiful is awesome! Such an amazing cause with such amazing words to live by and to pass on!

I also have a hormone imbalance and I’m wondering what you take as birth control now?

Can’t wait to try that yummy wrap!

Pure2 June 17, 2010 at 3:47 pm

Celina I do not take any birth control pills anymore. I decide I was done putting hormones in my body. It is taking my body sometime to heal.
