Collard Grapefruit Smoothie

by Lori and Michelle on September 7, 2010

Hey friends,

Got a fun tasty smoothie for you all, one of our favorites.

We try to watch our sugar intake as much as possible, so grapefruit is a fruit we have learned to love.

If you love grapefruit then I think you will like this green smoothie.

Hope you enjoy the video.

Pure2raw Recipe: Collard Grapefruit Green Smoothie

  • 2 cups water
  • 2-4 stalks of collards (start small and work your way up)
  • 2 large grapefruits (peeled)
  • 1 – 1 1/2 cups frozen peaches
  • 1 in fresh ginger (only if you like ginger, but it really makes this smoothie!)
  • juice of one lemon
  • 2 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1 spoonful sunflower lecithin (emulsifier, optional, we have been enjoying sunflower lecithin for almost a year now, for more info check out here)

*Add your favorite sweetener if needed (when we first got into eating less sweet smoothies, we added stevia to help sweeten, but over time we now do not really did the extra sweetness).

Blend your ingredients in a high speed blender.

Enjoy!

What is your favorite green smoothie recipe? What are your must in your smoothies?

Have a great day!

Till next time,

Michelle

I love it when you do videos! I have never done one, need to try it though!

Smoothies, ok, so am not the biggest fan b/c i like to drink coffeee and eat food. Smoothies are that middle ground for me that I just never feel that satisfied from but when I do make them sugar/agave/dates are a must and usually cocoa powder :)

I got to watch your video! I’m not usually in a position to be able to, and even though it kept buffering and stopping, it was so much fun!

I love smoothies and am excited to be able to make green ones now that I have a vitamix! Have been using carrots and beets and raspberries from the garden, as well as lots of greens while we still have them. I adore ginger – like some cayenne pepper in there too. Grapefruit’s low-sugar enough that I can probably try it – I saw you left the pith on too, to get all the good bioflavonoids. I like to put spirulina/chlorella/green powders in my smoothies just for extra greenness and because I love them.
A green smoothie for me for lunch tomorrow, methinks! Thanks for the inspiration!

Great video!! Such a unique combo of ingredients, but I love both grapefruit and collards so it sounds super refreshing. And it makes so much!!

THis is great! Love the tip with Sunflower lechitin. I’m going to do a “smoothie feast in a couple of weeks” so this is great!

I love making green smoothies! I need to try grapefruit again… they’re not my favorite, but I know they’re so good for you! (especially when trying to cut back on sugar)

I usually need lemon juice in every green smoothie I make! I love the extra tang! I’ve also been transitioning to less-sweet smoothies with some stevia, too.

This video is so cute! Once you said frozen peaches I was all about this. I’m a huge ginger AND grapefruit fan, so this sounds amazing! I am pretty boring with my green smoothies: hempmilk, spirulina, berries and banana (sometimes chia seeds or flax).

I love grapefruit with rocket! It’s amazing as it is. I usually put some ginger as well, and recently hemp seeds for the creaminess. I prefer less sweet green smoothies, so more than half it contains green leafs and than I put some seasonal fruits, now peach or grapes. Grapes were a bit sour on the last few days so I used some dried cranberries to sweeten.
