Killer arm workout

by Lori and Michelle on November 4, 2010

Hello friends,

With Michelle going off to go play at Foodbuzz I am here doing work ;)

Yesterday Michelle and I did a great killer arm workout! Well, the whole workout was a great full body workout but it really killed our arms :)

Typically we do one of bodyrock tv workouts. But they do not post a new workout everyday so here is what we tend to do on those days.

We make up our own routine.

Sometimes it is by reps or intervals. Or a combo of both. We take our favorite bodyrock tv exercises and create our own workout.

Michelle and I have been loving (to put it mildly) these short intense interval strength training workouts from bodyrock. If you have been following us for some time you would probably I already figured that out. I know we have discussed it many times before but we have come to realize after many years of being CARDIO fanatics that strength training is all we needed to get the RESULTS we were looking for!

For many years all we did was cardio and more cardio but never got any true results. Now we have learned to love our bodies and get to see our bodies change right before our eyes each day, each week, each month :) We have been feeling really good lately which is a great accomplishment! And to us that is the most important thing.  Both of us still have a journey ahead but we are excited to continue to see changes :)

Moving along

Here is what we did yesterday.

P2R Twins Killer Arm 12 Minute workout:

We bought the gym boss a few months ago and use it everyday! We love it!

12 round: 10 sec/50 sec intervals

- Santa Zuzana push up left

L: 10/7/7

M:10/8/7

*here is what we mean by a santa push-up (we do the full version)

- Mountain Climbers

L: 70/67/60

M: 67/65/60

-Santa Zuzana push up right

L:9/7/7

M: 9/7/7

-Plank knee tucks

L: 35/32/44 (I really pushed myself here)

M: 31/30/39

For something a little extra we did:

20 reps of crunch tuck for abs

(here is what I mean by crunch tuck)

Overall we felt this was a great workout for the full body especially the arms. I feel so good after each interval workout that I do! It just makes me feel so good which is what working out is supposed to do right? :)

After my intense interval workout I made another Vega pudding… yum ;)

I know some (probably most) of you would agree that fitness is one part of the equation the other half is fueling your body with the nutrition it needs to thrive!

What is your favorite workout equipment? Do you like working out at home or gym?

Have you done interval training type workouts before, if so do you like them? If not, would you ever try one?

What is your favorite arm exercise? You one go to exercise that you feel works the best for arms.

Till next time,

Lori

I really like this pull-up machine at my gym. It gives you a little weight were you can work up to a full push-up!

My fav arm exercise:anything with triceps (dips, skull-crushers…)

Alex I love triceps exercises too!

I still have yet to try these bodyrock workouts. I have a few weeks left in my training plan, but I sense a new workout after that!!

I love intervals for gettting in just enough cardio to keep me in good health. I do 10 min interval runs 1-2 times a week. That’s about all the cardio I can take!

I hate arm exercises, because my arms are my weakest body part, but push ups and pull ups….can’t beat them!

Katie so true – I love push ups. I have not tried a pull up yet though. A little scared, haha

Lately, I’ve been loving working out at home! I kind of go through phases, though… sometimes I need the motivation of a group fitness class to get me going! I’ve been doing my Physique 57 dvd’s recently– because I’m taking classes in their NEW Los Angeles studio this weekend! I’m excited. ;)

But I think you may have just inspired me to order a Gym boss and try the bodyrock workouts! I’m all about short, efficient workouts! And you look like you’ve had great results! I absolutely believe that interval training is the best way to get in shape fast– you can feel how hard your body is working!!

Favorite arm exercise? I usually do push-ups and tricep-dips back to back, when I really want to feel the burn. :D

You are looking great! I’ve tried the Bodyrock and at first I was thinking “easy” but it’s alot harder than it looks. I need to start doing these videos more often especially with the results you are getting. Do you do cardio and then these videos? Or just these video’s? Are you seeing better results from this more than P90X?

JoLynn thanks! Great questions: right now all I have time for is these bodyrock workouts and that is it. No extra cardio. I never did P90X just the Insanity program. I feel I am getting better results than when I did that program. Just my opinion though, others might have other results.

I work out at home and love intervals. It keeps me from getting bored. I like going between cardio and strength. My dumb bells are the only equipment I use right now, but I have considered bands to change things up.

I totally agree about strength training. I was like you guys! I was a cardio freak in my 20s but after awhile I just didn’t get the results I wanted. So I switched to strength training and I def see better results.

Man, those Santa pushups look HARD. You two are amazing to do these workouts. *Inspired*

I’m very tempted to start checking out these videos… they seem like the most timely work-out choices. Plus I love how they mix and match the different exercises to keep us from getting bored!

I prefer to work out at the gym. This is because I live with my parents (STILL!) and my gym offers many different alternatives. I can swim, play basketball, go on the ellipticals, do yoga, etc.

However, once I get my own place, I’m totally onto what you guys are doing! You look great! :)
