Working out to relieve stress

by Lori and Michelle on February 3, 2011

Good evening friends,

Glad to see everyone liking our way of eating leftover carrot pulp and thanks for all the kind words about our stressful day! Love you all!

Saved again by a 4 minute workout (just love these)

Despite all the stress, we did manage to have a wonderful short and sweet workout.

Yesterday we did two short workouts:

4 loving minutes of sweat and glory

In and out abs (we did this in Insanity and just love this exercise)

L – 25-20

M – 24-20

Squats with side kicks

L – 21-18

M – 21-19

And later on in the day, to relieve some more stress, we did a 10 minute pike press challenge from bodyrock tv

L – 105

M – 104

These were tough!!!No joking around here.

Twins Question: Do you find working out helps relieve stress? I know for most people it does, which is great. I love the feeling I get after working up a sweat, even if it is only for a few minutes!!

What is your favorite way to let go of some stress?

Today we are going to another night time yoga! Our bodies are craving some inner focus and love :)

Till next time,

Lori

Working out does help relieve stress for me especially with a good playlist. Also playing video games and playing in the kitchen, which I need to make more time for.

I do think working out releases stress, but to be honest, I do think about what is stressing me out during it. That mostly happens when I do kickboxing, but it helps me visualize the stress itself. It is hard to let go of things you can’t control though, but I am really trying to not let those things get to me as much. Big hugs to you two. I hope it works out soon!

I had to quit ballet a few years ago for health reasons.
But recently, my friend & I have decided to do ballet and yoga for stress. I also love to read and take sea salt baths :)

Hayley – thank you! Yes slowly things are calming down. Stress levels have been a little high over here, but making improvements.

I think working out always helps me relieve stress! Something about getting my sweat on and zoning out to music just totally clears my mind.

Gabriela – totally agree about getting into the zone! Love those days.

Ug! You fit ladies always remind me that I need to begin an exercise regime! As soon as I get back home from 105degrees, I promise! I’ll have to ask you about tips for someone who has done nothing but sporadic yoga for over 5 years…how to begin?!

I love the BR workouts! it’s amazing what great benefits you get from such a short workout – perfect for when you can only squeeze in a few minutes.

For me, working out relieves stress, but also adds to it. During the week, I stress about when I’m going to fit workouts in! And, like Sarena said above, I often think about stressful stuff while I’m working out. Lately, I’ve been working towards finding balance, giving myself enough ME time and rest – which, makes for the best workouts possible!

Thanks for sharing your workouts, btw! I’m planning on getting into the whole BodyRocks thing soon… it sounds so challenging and convenient! :)
