Hello luvs!!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was lovely…I enjoyed a lazy weekend, and I loved it!
Lori and I enjoyed an old favorite breakfast of ours.
When we first began incorporating more raw foods into our diet over a few years ago, buckwheat porridge was a staple. We got the idea in Ani Phyo’s first cookbook.
This bowl was full of raw buckwheat groats (soaked and sprouted), homemade pumpkin seed milk, stevia, vanilla, and some chia seeds.
I sure have missed it! It was delicious, just the way I remember it.
Twins Question: What is your current favorite breakfast cereal? Do you enjoy buckwheat groats?
Be back later with our first socca video!!!
Till next time,
Michelle

Alex – we have wanted to make a socca video for a long time, way over due
Lazy weekends are the best!
I tried a raw cereal with buckwheat groats in it a while back, and I loved it!!
Anna – I sure wish it was the weekend still!
Ooh, I have that cookbook but I haven’t made the buckwheat porridge! It looks so yummy! Usually I just opt for oats in the morning – an oldie but a goodie
Allysia – Oats used to me our breakfast every morning throughout college.
Breakfast looks wonderful! You girls should sell sprouted buckwheat groats! I would definitely buy them in bulk!
<3
Erica – good idea
we will see what we can do
that looks so healthy and soulful!!!!
I have such a hard time with raw groats i swear im doing it wrong i soak them for 24 hours then process them but its like and tastes like glue! any tips?
Jewel – yes buckwheat forms a glue when soaked, you must rinse them REALLY well before eating them!! And maybe try soaking them just for 12 hours, they really do not need 24 hours.
This looks delicious! I love my oats. I start everyday with them. I have never tried buckwheat groats, but I need to find some! I hope you two have an incredible week!
Yum! I love buckwheat groats! I need to make my own raw cereal soon!
Buckwheat groats are definitely my fave. I’ve eaten them my whole life—my town has one of the two biggest buckwheat producers in the country. Once I started sprouting them—even better! I like to add a little chia, maybe some crushed sprouted nuts sprinkled on top, a little coconut, and some goji berries!
Lisa is awesome that you live so close to producers of buckwheat!
I have never even heard of these things. I will have to look around for them at our health food store. They look great. I swear, you girls always open my eyes up to new things to eat!
aww thanks Nicole!
Looks good! Although I like buckwheat flour, but can’t get round my dislike of the groats.
Eimear – haha interesting, we do not like buckwheat flour that much, but love the groats
Yum. I really must try this cereal. I haven’t used buckwheat in sooo long! Yeah, it’s a great grain to sprout and use for making cereals (dehydrated is the best- Ani’s recipes are great).

It’s so pretty too!
Buckwheat groats are one of my favorite grains too
I’m glad you’re finding lots of foods to enjoy! I’m not much of a cereal person, but maybe I’ll try sprouted quinoa sometime. Buckwheat tends to hurt my tummy, unfortunately, but that may improve–I remember I used to be able to eat it.
love
Ela
Ela – oh no, I hope one day you can enjoy it again.
I love buckwheat sooooo much! It just has a good energy to eat. (Yes, ok, I read a little too much into foods and their personalities/energies…!)
That sounds so yummy! I’ve never tried sprouted buckwheat but sure do love it every other way i’ve had it.
Oatmeal is always a staple for breakfast, but lately puffed amaranth cereal has been a quick go to breakfast.
This looks great, I just tried sprouted buckwheat on my salad last night and need to try it this was too!
I made the most delicious oatmeal for breakfast this morning! Plum & Rum oatmeal
I eat 70% raw. I do enjoy “buckwheaties” (dehydrated, sprouted buckwheat…but I am french and so must occasionally treat myself to buckwheat crepes which I make. I grind my own ‘kasha’ (this is the roasted buckwheat which looks reddish/brown in the package; and has a very unique flavour) and mix it with egg, salt and I replace the milk with nut milk. Yum, yum, triple yum! These originated in Brittany.
Dianne – your crepes sounds great. Before eating more raw foods, kasha was a favorite if ours.
