wine bar

by Lori and Michelle on May 15, 2011

Hello luvs,

Last night Michelle and I went out with a dear friend Nicole. Nicole suggested a wine bar here in Charlotte called Dolcetto.  We were excited to give it a try as we have never been there before and we love a good glass bottle or two of wine!

Despite the rainy weather last night we had a blast chatting with Nicole over blogging, photography, wedding, dating, shopping, body image, and so much more! Nicole you are so easy to talk with and you are such a sweet heart!!! Look forward to more nights just like this!

I really liked the setting and vibe of this wine bar! So simple yet classy. Dolcetto even had live music which is something that they offer on the weekends.

I just love listening to good music, talking with friends, and sipping on some wine! Something about it is just so relaxing for me.

Another great thing about this wine bar is that they offer a room filled with a variety of wines where you can pick out the bottle you want.

Michelle and Nicole browsing the wine. They both did a great job in picking out some great wine!!!

Nicole and I had a fun time discussing our weddings! How each other’s planning is going or not going haha  I am glad that I am not the only one who is stressing over the date and location.

It was a perfect night with friends. Nicole thanks again for suggesting the Dolcetto Wine Bar I have a feeling we will be back!!!

This morning Michelle made

Gluten free vegan lemon almond pancakes … don’t worry we will share recipe tomorrow.

What better way to start our Sunday with pancakes! Michelle has been craving some good pancakes for a few days now and she finally had the time to whip a batch up :)

So scrumptious!!!

Ok, time for me to go get things checked off my list!

Twins Questions: Have you ever been to a wine bar? What is your typical Sunday morning breakfast?

How often do you clean your make-up brushes? What do you clean your make-up brushes with? Do you clean your hair brushes?

Till next time,

Lori

i just use a disposable puff for powder & my fingers for any eye shadow/q-tip for smudging. i’d imagine just a mild soap and water would be sufficient for cleaning any makeup applicators :) i went to a wine bar in san fran and loved it! i’m actually looking for a good one in my new city! my typical sunday breakfast varies (sometimes i go out like i am today for brunch) or it ends up being pancakes or eggs. since i had a huge protein day yesterday (oh hai huge bison burger) i’m prob gonna enjoy some fiber roasted cinnamon sweet potatoes (here: http://www.qspgh.com/) are amazing)

That looks like a great night! Um, now I feel gross…I haven’t cleaned my brushes. Typical Sunday breakfast is oats…but that’s not really different from any other day. I hope you two have a great day!

I remember my mother cleaning the hair brushes with boiling water and ammonia when I was a kid. These days, I only use the brush when my hair is wet and clean (I wash it every morning), so the brush does not really get dirty or covered in product build-up, but I do sometimes let it sit in almost-boiling water with a gentle soap like Dr. Bronner’s, etc. Make-up brushes: I wash 1 x per week with acne soap and warm water, rinse in cool water and let air dry. If I have a good antibacterial soap on hand I often use that as well (my goal is to kill the acne-causing bacteria which might be lurking). I actually have a Chanel brush (but not vegan!) that I have had since I was 16 (I’m now 36) that I use (and wash!) weekly and it is still in great shape! Non-vegan brushes (which is the only thing I buy now) don’t seem to last as long, but what can you do?!

I need to really clean my brushes. My sister always gives me crap for not washing them as often as I should. I’m washing them today. Thanks for the reminder!!

I LOVE great wine bars. The hubs and I used to go to one in Tucson all the time. Great seasonal food with great wine paired with every course. Loved it!! Glad you girls had a great time. ;)

Your night out looks fun :)
I had a green smoothie for breakfast and coffee. Other favourites are oatmeal, fruit, fruit smoothies, Spiru-tein, or pancakes/french toast if I’m in the mood. I love my sweet breakfast foods, if you can tell ;)
I don’t really take good care of my brushes, and I don’t have good ones anyway. I just use a tissue to wipe at the brushes, or a damp paper towel.

Yummy pancakes! I need a good Sunday morning breakfast soon! :) looks like you ladies had a fun night out. Back when alcohol didn’t hurt my stomach, we always hit up wine and martini bars! Ah, memories! Lol

I LOVE wine bars. So fun to learn about new wine and chat with friends!

I wash my brushes every couple months. Isn’t that gross?! I know I should do it every week!

Can’t wait for the pancake recipe. I usually have a fruit/veg smoothie in the morning with coffee. I prefer a savory tofu scramble over french toast/pancakes.
You do look like you had a great time at time at the wine bar!

When I was a teen my sister’s friend who was a model and make up artist told me to just soak my make-up brushes in a cup of shampoo and water. She said that shampoo is pretty gentle so it makes for a good brush cleaner.

The pancake recipe looks so good. I’ve never really had pancakes (like maybe once in my life?!?!) but everyone I know loves them and I’m feeling like I need to make one of yours soon–they look so good and I trust your ingredients choices.

Your wine bar outing sounds so much fun. Mellow, relaxing, good times.

I don’t even wear make-up, lol! But I clean my hairbrush mostly by hand. I love that you ask things like that: I never have a clue about that kind of thing and it’s interesting to talk about.
love
