Nothing beats enjoying the lovely sunny weather while enjoying a fresh crisp salad!

I finally saw the movie, Water for Elephants, the other night with some friends.

I thought it was really good. I will not say too much as I do not want to give it away, plus Lori has not seen it. But some parts were hard for me to watch, but overall I felt it was good. All actors did a great job, and what can I say I love Rob Pattinson!

I have not read the book. I know, I know I am one of those people who sometimes sees the movie before reading the book. There have only been a few books I have read before the movie (Twilight was one).

Twins Question: Have you seen Water for Elephants? What were your thoughts? Do you read books before the movie?

I haven’t seen the movie but I read the book and LOVED it! I didn’t think I was going to; it was a cook club book, and I couldn’t put it down. So good!

Katie yes I have heard the book was great!

I haven’t seen it. I usually prefer to read the book first, but the girl with the dragon tattoo series I might just watch the movie, since I haven’t read the trilogy yet and folks say that the movie version’s pretty good. But I couldn’t imagine being able to appreciate the Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter movies without having read the books first.

Ela yes Lord of the Rings were wonderful books, I have not read Harry potter.

I saw the movie but did not read the book. And I totally get what you mean, there were some parts that were truly hard to watch, and I bet the ones I am referring to are the same ones in your mind.
It is a nice movie though! The friends who went with me liked it too, even the ones who read the book.

Oh, and yes the actors were good too, and I don’t even like Pattinson. (yes, you read it right, I think I am the only one who doesn’t care for him, neither think he is that good of an actor nor handsome… my friends love him though)

Both Hubs and I read the book so we really want to see the movie! Probably not till it’s on DVD! :)

I usually like to read the book first before seeing the movie – but only if there’s been plenty of time in between otherwise if I watch the movie right after reading the book I’m always disappointed in the movie. There’ve times I’ve read a book but don’t care to see the movie – not because I’ll be disappointed but because images I’m forced to watch I don’t want to see! Subject matters I can’t play down in my mind when reading. I thought Water for Elephants would be one I’d like to read and eventually see but knowing a little about the subject matter I don’t think I could handle it. I can’t even watch Benji movies! lol!

Heidi – agreed, sometimes books would be best and not actually seeing the movie. I did not know much about this movie.

Hi
I haven´t seen moovie yet,but I look to your lovely salad and see asparagus, do you eat them raw or steam them?

There definitely were parts of the movie that were hard to watch but I remembered that from reading the book (and I am betting I found the same parts hard to watch plus additional parts) but I had forgotten that when I read that book I said it changed my outlook and both my husband and my therapist reminded me after I saw the movie!

I agree- a fresh, crisp salad is so seasonal right now. I love asparagus. I also love spinach, which is finally growing in my garden. Here’s a simple, raw spinach ‘slaw you might like!

Ana – I certainly agree with you there! The book’s been on my to-read list for ages, but the movie lost out when I was going to see one last week specifically because Pattinson was in it. (We saw the excellent Hanna instead.)
