Cardio + Smoothie

by Lori and Michelle on July 27, 2011

Yesterday was day 2 of our Strong is Sexy Fitness Challenge.

Began the workout with setting our intention  – “I feel blessed to be able to move, play, and create” – now that affirmation was very appropriate for us yesterday.

Played, moved, and created we sure managed to get them all done :)

We did 20 minutes of cardio plus 10 minutes of yoga. We grabbed our Gymboss Interval Timer and set intervals of 2 minutes of jump roping with a 15 second break for 10 rounds, giving us a total time of 20 minutes of jump roping….let me repeat, 20 minutes of interval jump roping. It was very tough, are form got pretty weak by the end, haha, but proud both of us pushed through.

Calves are a little sore today.

Today’s workout was Fat Fighter bodyrock workout. A 12 minute interval workout – a mix of cardio and strength exercises.  We started the workout with 6 minutes of interval jump roping. Seriously love our Gymboss Interval Timer! This workout was broken into two 6 minute intervals of 10-30 seconds, we did this same interval for our jump rope warm-up.  Ended the workout with a 20 minute walk outside and a little stretching.

The affirmation today was “I choose to eat foods that nourish and support me to be my best.”

And for us the best way we nourish ourselves after a hard workout is with a smoothie.

We are trying something new with our green smoothies, haha what is new.

Well we love our fruit based smoothies, beet smoothies, and savory avocado smoothies. We are going to be doing a mix of fruit and avocado in our smoothies, we feel having a little fruit will be okay for us.  For new readers, we struggle with candida, so we try to watch our sugar.

And look what we made

Socca! Another favorite nourishing food for us. (not the best picture)

We are finally trying to squeeze in some time to test recipes for our socca cookbook. We have not forgotten, just had to put in aside while we had other projects to do.

Twins Question: What is your favorite nourishing food? Have you moved your body today? Have you made socca yet?

Till next time,

P2r twins

Your calves look fantastic! I’m thinking of trying jump roping sometime soon.

I’ve been for a bike ride today, done a bunch of strength exercise, planning to jump on the rebounder in a minute.

Fruit and avo together in a smoothie is yummy–super creamy!

You have INSANE calves!

I moved today! I walked 4 miles and did an hour long intense Zumba class. :)

You know I’ve tried socca and it never ever works for me………..

I have to say I think that discovering socca here on your blog has changed my life! I just make pretty basic skillet ones to use as wraps, like sandwich bread or pizza bases (I tend to add some fresh chopped herbs like basil and parsley) as I don’t eat a lot of bread and therefore don’t bother buying it socca is just perfect for being able to make up as you need it. Looking forward to the socca cook book!

Look at those calves girl!!! Rock it!! Im glad the challenge is going well!

I have not had socca in forever! I need to make some again, I really have just been slacking in that department lately, trying to use my coconut flour and garbanzo bean flour again!

1. Lovelovelove your blog, just wanted to say that again since I haven’t commented in a while. You guys are everything I aspire to be, with fitness, nutrition, and the whole having-your-own-business thing. Someday I WILL run my own cafe, and if that means only if I win the lottery or marry rich, so be it :)

2. Whose calves are we looking at? This is a comment from a physical therapist who can’t help but ask if you have any low back issues. The right side is much stronger than the left and that’s what that sometimes suggests. This sounds very Negative-Nancy! That’s why I prefaced with how much I <3 your blog :)

Hello Lori, thanks for the support and yes one day you will have your own cafe! Keep believing.
And the picture is of Lori’s calves, and the lighting I think throws off the right side, they are pretty equal. But something we will pay more attention too. Thanks!

Jessie each jump rope interval we do something different, so we do all types of jumping – some high knees are in there. It took us awhile to be good at it but over time we did!
