Hello friends,
Happy Monday to you all! Is everyone starting their day and ending their day with a smile? We are especially for a weekend full of yummy pancakes.
Over the weekend we were busy keeping up with our Strong is Sexy Fitness Challenge. Hard to believe this is the beginning of the 3rd week. For those of you who are doing this challenge with us, how is it going? Noticing any improvements yet?
Workout Re-caps:
Thursday affirmation: “I live in awe and curiosity at the wonder of my body”
Workout was active rest day plus yoga. We did about 20 minutes of yoga. Michelle and I have started using our Gymboss Interval Timer for yoga/stretching intervals. For some reason we do really well with intervals for all our workouts. For instance, lately when we do yoga we set the gymboss timer to 9 rounds of 10 and 30 sec intervals. Gives us 10 sec to get into a new pose and hold it for 30 sec, it is marvelous. We usually repeat at least twice sometimes three times. We are loving it! We think our bodies are too haha It really helps us focus on the one move and hold it.
Friday affirmation: “I stand tall and move with grace”
Workout was Suicidal Sweat about a 15 minute time challenge bodyrock tv workout. A great full body workout that gets you sweating and makes you feel so good when you are done!
Saturday affirmation: “I am rocking this fitness challenge!”
Instead of pilates for our active rest day, we did some light yoga at the house. Again we used the same intervals of 10 and 30 sec for 9 rounds and repeated that 3 times. Along with some of our favorite ab/core exercises.
Sunday affirmation: “I choose to see the gifts in my life. They are everywhere in and around me”
We did a 30 minute walk outside for our active rest day. It felt great to get outside. It has been awhile since we took a since long walk outside. In addition to our daily workouts we try to do 15 push-ups and 20 back flies each day, so far we have been doing them just about everyday.
Michelle and I are really starting to feel stronger in our bodyrock tv workouts. Each day we feel we get better with each exercise even with our yoga stretching!! We can go deeper in our moves. Although balance is something we need to work on, haha
Twins Question: What was your favorite thing you do did or ate all weekend? What is going to make you smile today? Do you like or dislike Mondays?
I seem to like Mondays, it is not my favorite day of the week but I do not mind it. It lets me know that it is a new week. A new week to get more accomplished and start fresh!
till next time, xoxo

For me, monday means a fresh start! When I’m at home, I always go to a 7am pilates class, which is the perfect way for to jump-start a healthy week.
Best thing I ate this weekend? hm.. probably some strawberries with vegan coconut whipped cream topping!
Rachel sounds like a great way to start the week!
Love the affirmations!
My favorite thing I did all weekend was organize all of my clothes and get rid of a lot: amazing how much that helped my Monday morning be off to a good start!
Emily got to love positive thinking
And yes organizing and getting rid of things always helps us feel lighter and refreshed, haha
great post, I like the idea of intervals for yoga. As an alternative I sometimes use the mantra of “meet and beat” – if there is a pose that really challenges me I hold it for a set time, then the next time I do it meet that time and attempt to beat it. What puts a smile on my face, not just today but every day, is my 16 year old son unashamedly telling me he loves me – even in public
Banana walnut bread was on the yum list this weekend, nom nom nom
Mandy love that idea of trying to beat it, a great personal boost to a workout
and how cute with your son! love banana bread
those workouts are getting intense. Love it! and you do look stronger! I meant to tell you that. Great muscle definition!
oh why thank you Lindsay, it is funny some days we feel stronger, but sometimes it is a real struggle to get through the workouts.
never thought about yoga intervals before..that really would bring a focus to the practice. i love your affirmations, i really do think about them! i don’t really dislike mondays so long as i get a good bit done at work then i feel productive! this is gonna sound crazy but i finally got to clean my house this weekend (we will have guests this upcoming weekend staying with us) and it just felt so nice to sit down and have everything neat :0
agreed Melissa, whenever I clean and pickup my place I almost feel like a new person. You would think I would do it more often, haha. And you would love yoga intervals, helps keep us focused
I spent lots of time in the kitchen this weekend – I really needed it so it felt great.
I do yoga intervals too! And I thought I was crazy
I used to time poses by counting breaths but sometimes I’d lose focus or my count. Intervals work great for me!
Aine, same here, that is why we just love our timer
glad to know we are not alone
Awesome you’re feeling the benefits! I am definitely feeling stronger in my body and loving having a set routine to do rather than thinking about it each day and then sometimes missing it because it’s not scheduled! I want to do longer of this challenge! I am thinking of just maybe doing the same schedule again and repeating it for another 4 weeks…
Casey sounds like a great plan!
just bookmarked the “suicidal sweat”-workout! thanks for mentioning it, I am missing the just bodyweight workouts since zuzanna is using her equipment excessively in the last time.
taking my skipping rope on a short trip for a few days, this will be a great completion for my training.
oh and I think your idea (using an intervall timer) for yoga ist just great! wanted to purchase the gymboss soon and going to try it then. keep on doing the good work
Jin, I know we have noticed she is using more equipment, so we have been loving going back to some of the older ones when she did not
