do you remember Michelle’s love of pirates post? you may have seen a smoothie that was pictured in that post.
well today I am going to share that recipe because it was quite tasty and satisfying.
Michelle and I enjoyed this smoothie after our workout earlier this week. in this smoothie we used swiss chard as our green, if you do not have swiss chard please feel free to use any green of your choice. I promise you do not taste the swiss chard in there!
why we use swiss chard in smoothie? well we always try to get one dark leafy green or herb to help alkaline the body after an intense workout and a little bit of protein.
Pure2raw recipe: fig raspberry hemp seed smoothie
prep-time: 5 minutes
tools needed: blender
ours made about 6 cups of smoothie
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 cup frozen figs
- 2 – 2 1/2 cups water
- 6 tbsp hemp seeds
- good handful of fresh mint leaves
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 3-4 stalks of swiss chard leaves (or any green of choice)
Place water in blender followed by all remaining ingredients.
Blend till smooth. Adjust amount of water depending on how thick you like your smoothies.
**Note: if you are nervous about adding in swiss chard because afraid of tasting it you may add in some lemon juice to help hide the ‘green’ taste.
perfect smoothie after a sweaty workout. a little tart. a little sweet. full of powerful nutrients to help our bodies recover after our workout.
you may use hemp protein or any protein powder of your liking with this smoothie. we just like using the real hemp seeds better than protein powders all the time. a little easier on our stomachs and to us a little less processed.
