All of these ideas look great, especially the bright shoes. There are really so many cheaper, creative wedding ideas out there. You just have to make the effort to find them :)

Look at you, Lori– you’re making ME super excited to get married! haha

For myself I wanted a wedding cake, only because there is a great gluten-free vegan baker who was able to do it for me. But I paid a lot for it. But everyone loved it. A friend of mine tried to just pick up the cakes herself but it ended up being a big mess, so I’d say have someone deliver it! I think cupcakes are fun. I don’t know if I’d try to make it yourself. That would have been WAY too much for me. Will you be having part of your wedding gluten-free? I think it’s sad when people who are gluten-free or vegan don’t have food for themselves, I mean, it is your special day! Of course it depends on the venue and caterer. But treat yourself, don’t just try to do what guests want.

haha as long as there is some form of cake, I love ‘em all!!!! I like the big cake for its pretty and beautiful traditional aspect, while I love dessert bars b/c there is so much freedom for everyone! And it helps people mingle together. This is such a wonderful post!! I love all the ideas and pictures…man, my wedding idea juices are a-runnin’ now :P

I just got married this past August and we did a dessert bar with all homemade vegan desserts. We spent the three days before in the kitchen with friends making desserts and freezing the stuff that had been made as far in advance as three days. Then we also put out chinese food containers so people could take home desserts with them as a wedding favor. It was a big hit! (Or at least no one was honest with me that they didn’t like it…)

I would LOVE to read more about your wedding! Have you done a post about your bridesmaids yet? I’d love to hear who you’re having/why they’re special to you. The bridesmaids dresses in that picture are SO pretty

Lots of great stuff!
I’ve been to a couple weddings recently. One was at a classy stallion ranch in CA…it was like a country/city theme…with a smores bar and lots of great scenery for pics!

Here in PA a HUGE cookie bar is a MUST! Every wedding I’ve ever been to has hundreds of different types of cookies as the appetizers. I had always thought that it was tradition elsewhere as well, but I guess not, haha. Love your ideas! You’re wedding is going to be beautiful :)

Love the bridesmaid dresses, and those lemon slice/flower jars. So gorgeous! My favorite thing a friend did was to ask on the reply card for every guest to list a song they would absolutely dance to if the DJ played it. The entire night, as each new song came on, you would hear someone cheer “that’s my song!” and come running out to dance – it was hilarious and kept the dance floor hopping!

Carrie what a great idea! love it

My sister got married a year ago and she did bright purple shoes that matched her bouquet – it was great!

And she did something like the lemon wedge flower centerpieces but used twigs with crepepaper flowers and filled the jar with dried black beans.

AND, she did a cupcake bar. I also went to a wedding with a dessert bar and everyone loved it. It was the talk of the party.
