Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Lori and I are very grateful for our Christmas this year and the wonderful family we got to share it with and make new memories.
neither Lori and I did a great job at taking pictures this year. guess you can say both of us were living in the moment, and we both just forgot, haha. but now looking back we do not have many to look at, does this ever happen to you? You forget to take pictures of an event? or are you always remembering to take pictures?
mine started very late in the kitchen drinking wine, making what I like to call “lazy man’s” pumpkin pie. I used our pumpkin pie mousse that we enjoyed last year, just doubled the recipe.
and yes I know it is inside a spring form pan, all that my mom had for me to use. and it worked wonderfully too.
Christmas this year was a lot of fun, there was one shining star
Joy (our niece!)
I never had so much fun in the kitchen before, Joy helped me decorate the donuts
and she liked to sample them as she worked….very good chef
these donuts were our gluten free pumpkin donuts with a cinnamon sugar coating
I actually made these donuts Christmas eve and then Christmas morning coated them in sugar
coated them lightly with oil and cinnamon sugar mix, with the help of my helper. Joy loved them, ate a whole donut all by herself.
looks like we have a future donut maker.
everyone else enjoyed them too.
older sis made her famous homemade cinnamon rolls!
I did not have any of these, but instead made up some pumpkin pancakes (requested by everyone)
Joy sampled those too, see told you she is a good chef! sampling everything, haha
I too sampled as I baked along! you know to warm up the tummy
quiches were also made and enjoyed, I had some spinach quiche. got to get my morning greens in
as our stomachs digested we opened gifts, Joy was a great help. she loved being able to give people presents. still does not understand opening, but playing she loves.
oh the joys of being little again….having a kid around makes the holidays so much more fun. seeing her laugh and giggle at the littlest things, too cute. I love her so much.
Any kids at your Christmas?
Crazy to think we just ate a very large breakfast but already back in the kitchen to make Christmas dinner. We had the classics – turkey, stuffing, cranberries, gravy, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, plus roasted veggies, roasted buttercup squash, and roasted brussel sprouts (mine fav)
round one!! I enjoy having small scoops, so I can back for 3rds
And check out who was at the head of the table
of course there was dessert
pumpkin and chocolate a perfect match!
ended the day with a full, happy tummy. I would say that is success in itself, haha
and I apologize for the lack of photos and quality. my iphone seeems to be my camera of choice. it is quick, small, convenient, and takes pretty good pics and videos. no complaints. and just about everyone in our family has one, except our dad. he is still a blackberry fan. we all joke with him too.
well now as I am finally finishing up this post. it took me about over 4 hrs to write this up, as I am babysitting my niece. how do moms do it? i can barely do anything with her running around and wanting to be entertained.
we are warming up leftovers! oh yum
Twins Question: Do you like leftovers? How was your day yesterday? Anything exciting you want to share?
Till next time,
Michelle

Sounds like such a nice day! I haven’t been around such a young infant in so a long… she is so precious! I bet it was a blast to be around her the whole day.
I enjoyed leftovers today for lunch, I love having them on hand.
Looks like a fantastic day! She is so adorable, I would love to have a little one around – I’m one of the youngest of all my cousins, so there aren’t too many young kids around.
Leftovers are the greatest! I love cook-once-eat-twice meals, especially great for busy weeks.

Between the cinnamon rolls and the beautiful donuts…I am now starving! Hahaha! I’m at work, so all I have are healthy snacks, dammit!
Leftovers are OK. Depends on what they are. Preferably soups and stews. Other than that, I don’t really enjoy them because I can taste the plastic they’ve been sitting in. I have a keen sense of what Tupperware tastes like and even after a few HOURS I can sense it. But baked goods leftovers…that’s totally different. I don’t even think they’re considered leftovers, are they?
Anyway, glad you two had a marvelous holiday! I wish nothing but happiness and relaxation into the new year! xoxo

thanks Kailey same to you!!
Kailey, I store my leftovers in glassware for that very reason.
I love leftovers!
I still have a very basic nokia ancient cellphone, but I’m so impressed by the pics iPhones take! I’ve been going through a spate of forgetting to take pics too–an iPhone would make things easier there.
Looks/sounds like a lovely Christmas, especially with the little one around. I love that you were such a good auntie!
Beautiful, colorful food.
love

I usually love leftovers — as long as it was good food to begin with! ha ha! All the eats look great and it’s always fun having a baby around to enjoy everything. Joy is going to be a great chef! I need donuts.
