our love of fitness

by Lori and Michelle on January 25, 2012

hello friends!

ever since joining the FitFluential team we have been surrounded by others who share the same passion as we do. everyday we get inspired by our fellow fitness friends. by being an ambassador we get the chance to have amazing opportunities sent our way to pursue. that is what we are doing today. taking a step in pursuing something we would love to be considered for - brand representative for a fitness/ health company or magazine.

today we wanted to share our love of fitness. it is no secret how much we love to SWEAT.

our love of working out has empowered us in so many ways that we never thought were possible.

over the years our focus of fitness and workouts have changed. as we have learned, grown, and pushed ourselves further.  even giving us the self-confidence to show our abs a year ago.

we have overcome our eating disorder, issues with food-calorie counting, learned how to respect thy food, workout to relieve stress. we just love discussing things health and fitness related.  and how getting stronger physically has helped our self-esteem!

our fitness history:

  • as kids we were always active. from working at a horse barn. doing a little gymnastics. doing whatever our older sisters did.
  • middle school we got into sports. and played anything we could.
  • high school we were still involved in sports, and by our junior and senior year we had a strong focus on volleyball.
  • college we played competitive intramural sports, did some weight lifting but really were cardio junkies.
  • post-college we were still cardio junkies. got into running. ran a few half and full marathons. then yoga was welcomed into our routine.
  • about 2 years ago we came across the site bodyrock tv, and our love of working out changed, goodbye cardio, hello strength!
  • we quit the gym and decided to become FIT by working out at home doing high intensity interval training.
  • and now we try to find new ways to push ourselves outside our comfort zones during our home workouts.
we love anything fitness related. we are obsessed with our Gymboss Interval Timer and use it everyday. for every workout.

we love the challenge of trying something new for our workouts. we love mixing things up as well to keeping our body guessing from yoga one day, to jump roping the next to a HIIT workout.

we love sharing with our friends and readers what motivates us to be fit. we do have those days when we do not feel like working out, but luckily we have tips for getting motivated. having a workout buddy can be so beneficial too
.
we enjoy:
  • showing that you can do anything at home in small spaces.
  • discussing topics from health and fitness magazines and websites.
  • sharing some of our own workouts
  • showing that you can increase the intensity of your workouts but using a sandbag, luckily you can make your own sandbag at home.
  • doing mini fitness challenges to inspire others to try something everyday to challenge your body and mind like our plank a day.
  • sharing our fitness updates and progress because we are proud of all the hard work we have done is paying off.
  • showing that anyone can get fit and look their best by doing quick interval workouts in just 10 minutes a day.
  • sharing our eats to show what works for us and what does not because we all know how important diet is.

we made a short video describing what fitness means to us, please check it out when you have time and let us know what you think!

and we just want to say thank you for allowing us to come into your lives daily  and allow us to share something that means so much to us. you all keep us motivated!

thank you!

till next time,

love

Lori and Michelle

I love your attitude about fitness, it is so inspiring! I am also a devoted bodyrocker, I love having a full workout done in 12 minutes, do it about 5-6 mornings per week….it’s pretty much the best thing since raw chocolate!

I would love your opinion about something as I am struggling with my diet. I eat pretty high raw and have for a while (thanks for the inspiration!)…lots of green smoothies, chia seeds, salads, pumpkin seeds, nooch, tahini, etc plus some cooked lentils from time to time. I feel awesome and I love to eat this way, but I’m not getting that ripped look that other bodyrockers have…and I’ve been doing daily exercise for a looooonnnnnnnnnng time. I can’t believe I’m contemplating this, but I’m thinking about adding in some meat or eggs to my diet, as that’s what Zuzanna and other bodyrock women eat and have gotten fantastic results. I do sun warrior and amazing meal protein shakes too, but I still don’t have that Zuzanna look. I’m having this crazy inner turmoil about adding meat and guilt and wanting to be SHREDDED and wanting to be raw and vegan, and meat weighing down my digestion and maybe I just need to get out of my head! Do you struggle with this ever? Am I totally nuts?

Lori and Michelle January 25, 2012 at 10:57 am

Samantha no, you are not nuts!!! we struggled with before, but a little over a year ago and onto early last year we started changing our diet. We have added fish and eggs back and be loving it. It was as hard as we thought, but we were all raw vegans for 2 years so guess that is why we did okay with it. We are now at the point in our health and fitness journey that we want to look and feel out best. We still eat raw foods, but also love the mix cooked foods, even some animal products. We still try to eat mostly a plant based diet. Just recently we started eating more eggs and fish to see if that helps with acne (plus cutting out grains and some sugar), as well as hoping it will benefit us get more toned!! But we struggle all the time with why we cannot get ripped, we are still learning. Our focus right now is healing our skin, then we will get back into our muscle building. We will continue to share any new findings. But for now try just maybe one thing first, like eggs. Do one a few days a week and see how you feel. If you need anything else, let us know. We are here for you!
