new snacks

by Lori and Michelle on March 12, 2012

hello luvs!

glad everyone has been enjoying our recaps of our workouts! this morning we pushed ourselves and help plank for 4 mins!! it was tough, but we pushed through. a great way to start the week – feeling strong and empowered!

today we thought we would share some new snacks we are enjoying lately.

let us begin with cake

we got this recipe from our friend Heather – HEAB…everything we love about this recipe. we made it out of carob and stevia and it came out wonderfully.

reminded us of our mini cakes!

raw gluten free grain free chia brownie bites!! a new product that we are selling over at our bakery – Twin Cakes, get yourself some today ;)

walnut butter chia seed protein (vega) pudding.

walnut butter

love artisana walnut butter! this was a new addition to our beloved chia puddings. we were feeling a little extra hungry, so we added in some walnut butter to help fill us up. we do not eat a lot of nuts, but some days we just need something more to help keep us full and fueled for the day. and healthy fats always leave us feeling full and satisfied!

and we are so happy to hear so many of you have been enjoying our protein thin mints!! we told you all they are addicting :)

this morning we had a skype video interview with Heather. we are apart of a free online video for Better Health.  we had fun time chatting with her this morning and sharing our tips on fitness, balance, and food. check it out if you got time. our interview will go live at 4:30pm EST on Sunday, March 18.

and we are working on a follow-up skin care video to answer more questions we have received. hope to have the video up later today.

have a great Monday!

Twins Question: do you skype? do you like online video chats? anyone ever use face time on their iphones?

till next time,

L & M

I bought a bunch of those walnut butter packets a while back (and went through them really quickly!). So good for adding to morning oats!

OK, your muffin looks like something I would see in the window of a quaint French cafe. Mine looked like a brown sponge. ;)

I want to try that muffin since I saw it on HEAB, I need to make it soon!
Have you two tried the new Vega?? Oh my gosh, it is so good!! I was never a huge fan of the texture on the vega, but now they really outdid themselves. It is much more smooth and delicious, I made a “vega pudding” ala pure2raw this morning for my pre-workout snack with a packet of the new original Vega One and it was super delicious. I have tried the original and the chocolate and liked them both! Although today I mixed my original with carob powder and liked that even more than the chocolate one.
Now I can say I really like vega! :-)

That cake looks awesome! I do FaceTime with my sister from time to time as she has an iPod Touch, not an iPhone, so it’s the easiest way to communicate with her on the go. I think she is literally the only person I know who does not have a cell phone!

I was curious if you’d consider selling raw treats with only stevia or xylitol as a sweetener. There is almost nothing like that on the market!

Bitt we are actually working on a some products with stevia!

katie @KatieDid March 12, 2012 at 1:17 pm

would love to give walnut butter a try! I’m on an almond butter kick and go through a jar pretty quickly so I’d love to switch it up. And just watched the skin update video- thanks for sharing the info about msn and the allergy testing. Very interesting about the specific foods, its very interesting how bodies all react so different to different things!

You cake looks very similar to my vegan chocolate muffins, what flour did you use? My recipe uses

2 cups of wholemeal spelt flour

3 tablespoons of arrowroot powder

1 no egg

1 cup of coconut oil

1 teaspoon of baking powder

1/4 cup of mixed berries

1/4 cacao nibs

2 tablespoons of cacao

3 tablespoons of Natvia
You can view the whole recipe here if you like :) http://livehealthysimply.com/2012/03/vegan-chocolate-muffins-with-natvia/

Jessica the recipe used no flour, just flax meal, some carob, eggs and stevia. your recipe sounds wonderful! thank you for sharing.

Ela March 12, 2012 at 6:44 pm

Yummy! All of it!
I’m teaching a web-based course at the moment, so although I don’t even have text on my cellphone, I do use skype-type things. I really should use it with my parents abroad–would save so much on phonebills..

I tried with chia meal instead of flax today. The kids all loved it–so did mom! I baked mine though. Microwaving changes the molecular structure of the food you nuke, right? I baked mine at 350 and it took about 35 min. Chia and flax are so delicate though….does baking them diminish their lovely healthful properties? My understanding is yes, but I’m a little ignorant. What have you learned?

Lori and Michelle March 13, 2012 at 1:21 pm

Christina yes baking them loses some of the healthful properties but there should still be some left in there :) glad you enjoyed it!
