update on Lori’s house and tile shopping

by lori on April 21, 2012

hello friends,

how is everyone doing? things are again crazy around here. nothing new right haha

currently, we are in the process of moving Gary and I into our new home. then Michelle and I have to pack up and leave for Florida to get things ready for my wedding. nothing like calling it close. told you we are a little crazy. I am trying not to stress too much over here. Michelle and Gary are doing a good job with keeping me calm. Michelle says all the stress goes on her, that I am supposed to be stress free. thanks sis!

today I wanted to share where things stand with Gary and I’s remodeling of our new house.

a few days ago after we finalized on our vanity and granite counter tops, it was time to decide on tile for the flooring and shower.

picking out tilethe fun begins of picking out tile layout for our master bathroom

Gary and I went back and forth on what color of tile we wanted but finally came to a conclusion

the picture on the left is the one we decided with the accent piece in front of it

doesn’t Gary just look so thrilled haha

I had to go back a second time to pick out the grout to match our tile pieces

picking out the tile was a lot of fun. I enjoy doing things like this. even though decorating and design work like this does not come easy to me, I do enjoy it.

after the tile decisions were made the house still needed more prep work done before the contractors could come to start the remodeling.

each night Gary and I, even Michelle came a few times, went over to the house to ripe up the carpet and prep the floors.

this is the upstairs part of the house, this will be the office (bonus room area) and the the master bedroom is off to one side and then the other two bedrooms and a second full bath are off to the other side of house.

we love the layout of this house. just the right size for our first home together!

earlier this week they started the remodeling of our master closet and master bathroom. here is my closet being built.

I will give more updates and pictures in the near future. we are both getting really excited about the whole project! it is coming together,  although we have had some major plumbing issues. looks like both personally and professionally we are having issues with plumbing. we think we might have a solution for the bakery  but still waiting on an answer for our new house. the plumber is still digging around outside to find the back-up problem. we are thinking a tree root might be in our pipe causing the issues. we shall see!

fingers crossed we figure it all out!

in the mean time we have been finalizing on other little purchases for the new master bathroom like our fixtures. we got this handles from Lowe’s and adore them. love the simplicity of them yet elegant at the same time. this is going on our new vanity that we created. hopefully that arrives to the house soon!

well better get back to packing…Gary and I have a lot of stuff. how do we have so much?? do you ever wonder how you collect so much stuff?? crazy how when you move it helps you go through things that you do not need or use. we got lots of bags and boxes already filled to drop off at the donation center ;)

have a great Saturday! and glad everyone enjoyed our chocolate baked berry frosted donuts!! YUM YUM

till next time,

Lori

Your home is going to be beautiful. I can’t wait to see the photos when all the remodeling is done! (I also look forward to seeing the wedding photos, but I understand if want to keep those private).

The tile you chose is great! I really like the variable color pallet between the stone.
I recently put in wood flooring in my living room, it was a great experience :) I hope you guys have fun.

Happy Saturday, happy moving! Those drawer handles are lovely–might be a little tricky to get the holes drilled in just the right place, but I’m sure you’ll get it.

I love how you are all sharing the stress–divide and conquer, right?
love

I really like the colours you have chosen. I love the neutral range and did my bathroom in those colours several years ago (in another house).
