no more bodyrock

hello luvs,

we took  3 days off last weekend while we were down at the beach. it was great to just chill and relax!! not have to really think about anything else.

then Monday morning came, ya we were exhausted from traveling, staying up late, eating whatever, and drinking too much that we could of slept in that morning…but we didn’t!

we got right back into our workout routine.  okay well it took us two days to really get back into our routine. we must say we are proud of ourselves! proud we did not come up with excuses. just accepted our weekend (of fun!) and just moved on. as in the past, we would of found excuses, like well what is one more day. one more day to eat whatever, etc.  not this time. no more making silly excuses.

okay, now onto our workouts thus far this week.

Monday – 12 minute equalizer workout with a 20 minute casual walk outside. for our workout we grabbed our Gymboss Interval Timer (affiliate link) and set the timer to 18 rounds of 10 second rest and 30 second work.

here is what we did: (**we are not personal trainers, so please consult your doctor before starting any new workout routine)

 seriously loving our equalizer. so much fun and works our muscles in a new way.

TuesdayTone It Up Bikini Strap Workout – took us under 20 minutes to complete 3 rounds of 20 reps.

Wednesday – 10 minute ZWOW workout. we did Zuzana’s newest workout ZWOW #11. a mix of 3 exercises, all body weight.  got to love MULE KICKS!

Thursday – YOGA. we finally did some much needed yoga! we each did our own 30 minute session at home. it was hard to start the day much slower than our normal HIIT workouts, but we realize we need yoga to help slow us down. both of us feel relaxed and ready to start the day.  our goal is to yoga at least once a week, and try to work our way up to more.

we are feeling great. a little sore though. we feel the best thing to help with being sore is to keep moving the body.

and now onto a question we have been receiving a lot lately. as you may have noticed we no longer really do much bodyrock tv workouts anymore. it was a personal decision by us too.

as many of you know a few years ago we were HUGE bodyrock fans! stumbling across that site a few years ago really did change our life. we found Zuzana! that is who we really feel in love with. bodyrock did teach us so much about how working hard in short amount of time is so worth it. how working out for just about 12 minutes a day can really make a difference if you put the effort into it!! for that knowledge we will be forever grateful.

things have changed so much over at the bodyrock site. overall their mission is still the same but we are not in love with the site anymore. to us it is really changing, maybe a little too over the top sexual-like driven for us.  a little is fine but feel sometimes it pushes the limits. and all the behind ‘gossip’ is just getting to be too much. the MAIN reason why we no longer do their workouts is that we never could really get into their workouts once Zuzana left! Zuzana really motivates us, and to us that is what is important.

so that is why we followed Zuzana and just do her workouts. along with the Tone it Up girls workouts and Physique 57, we really enjoy the girls behind these workouts as well. and we get a lot of our fitness inspiration from our FitFluential family.

so hopefully that answered all your questions on no more bodyrock for us. yes of course our workouts are still going to be majority HIIT style workouts because that is just what we love to do. but we will not be doing the workouts from bodyrock anymore. things could change, but that is where we stand as of now.

if you still enjoy bodyrock that is fine, keep doing it. we are not saying do not do it anymore. we just wanted to clear the air on where we stand with it all. hope that makes sense.

Twins Question: do you find there to be a change on the bodyrock tv site? do you find there to be a lot of gossip even in the whole blogging community? how do you avoid getting all caught up in any kind of gossip or drama?  and for our yoga lovers out there how many times a week do you do yoga? do you like classes or at-home dvd’s?

I did a couple of BodyRock workouts after Zuzana left, but have to agree. It’s a little TOO over the top for me now. I’m not really doing HIIT workouts for now, but when I go back to them I’ll be sticking with Zuzana! As for gossip, I feel like I’m pretty oblivious to it all.

im struggling with the new BR site attidue too!! ..it just seems to be to much of a good thing. And now that L got her boob job, I am even more critical about the entire thing. I mean we will certainly never find out what really went off between Z & F and quite honestly it’s none of our business and something tells me I dont even want to know, but still .. idk.. something feels just off to me..

totally with you guys on this issue.. Ive mostly been doing my own HIITs workouts with all my favorite exercises haaa!

I don’t enjoy the new BodyRock site and have been following Zuzana too….I feel the same..I fell in love with her workouts….I haven’t heard any of the gossip so I have no idea what people are saying but I kind of feel like maybe something a little shady went down-I love how her new videos are so professional and the intro music is great!! I can’t wait until she gets a video out I cannot imagine how she is making any money doing everything for free!!!

i feel the same about BR, and i miss zuz on there. i check it out once in a while, but its not the same that it use to be. like you, i learned a lot from it and expanded my home gym with the sandbag, dip station, and ugi ball and now make up my own workouts (and always go back to old zuz workouts and her youtube site now). you ladies look fabulous though and great example that you don’t need to spent a crazy amount of time in a gym to get a work out. i’m all about that! :)

Great post, girls! I love seeing your weekly workouts. :-) I used to follow bodyrock too, bit also stopped when Zuzana left…and for basically the same reasons you mentioned above. Personally I feed off of a gentle yet motivating energy and bodyrock doesn’t have that since Zuzana left. That’s also why I’m such a devotee to Tone It up and Physique 57.

I do find the bodyrock site to be changing and I’ve never really understood the reason they make it so sexual in nature to begin with. From the ridiculous articles they post on FB to the boob job Lisa Marie just got, it’s all a bit much. That being said, however, it doesn’t stop me from doing their workouts. I like the workouts and that’s what I’m there for. I pay no attention to the rest of it, don’t get caught up in the other stuff and don’t participate on fb. I get my workout, get out and get it done.
I understand your opinion (and many others feel the same way from the comments I’ve gotten on my site when I mention it) but my reaction is to just ignore it.

I did notice the change in BodyRock.tv when Zuzana left. I thought it was so disrespectful and abrupt how her departure was handled. I honestly thought something bad happened to her. Having Lisa as the new host and his girlfriend all while copying Zuzana’s moves, was very unprofessional in my eyes. I always thought they were a bit too sexual, but what I don’t like about the site now is it just doesn’t seem authentic. The community is really very negative no matter how much they try to post about positivity, you can look at the comments and their FB pages to see it’s not all that positive. I’m just happy Zuzana is making steps to move on and started doing ZWOWs

I agree and have been doing ZWOWs when I turn to home workouts. She is definitely more inspiring to me than some of the new faces on bodyrock. Great job getting back into the swing of things right away with your workouts girls, not always easy but sometimes a break can bring you back strong and motivated.

I feel the same way about the changes over at BodyRock, and I quickly lost interest. I haven’t tried any of Zuzana’s new workouts yet, but I’d rather to follow her, too! Also, I like to avoid drama and gossip whenever possible… it just makes life easier. :)

I discovered bodyrock late (late 2011) but I have already left their workouts in favor of Zuzana’s. I just love her personality and how lovely and genuine she is.
I agree with you when you say bodyrock is “too porn like”. I mean the pictures they put to promote the WO are too much! And don’t get me started on the gossip!
I was actually thinking about getting an equalizer some time in the future. It seems to be such a great tool

Oh yes, I totally agree 100% about Bodyrock.tv. I too found the site a few years ago and loved it, but it really isn’t the same without Zuzana. For me SHE was Bodyrock- I loved her attitude, personality and the overall vibe she brought to the workouts. I never felt that she was just trying to be a sex object.. but really more inspirational. While I still check out the site from time to time for ideas or new exercises to switch it up or inspire the classes I teach, I do prefer to be faithful to Zuzana. I’m not really in the loop with everything that has been going down on the site or behind the scenes- but you can feel/see the changes anyway.

so much yes! i honestly stopped visiting BR on a daily basis. i don’t have half the equipment, i don’t want to hear about plastic tits and moreover find that the oversexualization/greased up look is not what i want to see when trying to do a proper workout.

sometimes i do old ones with Z or just do her ZWOWs. i even hide BR from my FB feed so i don’t have to see the ridiculous updates!

I originally found your blog because of bodyrock! I was a hardcore follower myself for a while…I’m on the same page as you guys though, there’s so much sexual attention all over the internet and the new BR is no different. It’s sad, but I also don’t do much HIIT anymore, which is another reason I don’t follow the site. Even though I don’t do the ZWOW’s, I still watch them all and constantly think about how adorable Zuzka is :)

I totally agree about the bodyrock site….it has become even more sexually driven, and yes it is not the same without Zuzana. No reason we need to hear about someone’s boob job. :) I do yoga at least 3 times a week at a studio where I got an amazing groupon deal. I do it everyday that I am not there at home. My arms have been the strongest they have been because of yoga, as well as my core, even stronger and more toned than with bodyrock. Yoga helps my anxiety and stress. I love it. I was a hard core runner until foot surgery back in November and constant problems with it led me to find yoga and other at home excercise videos. It has been hard to give up running but discovered I am pretty good at yoga. Plus running as you know does a number on your body/joints and I am not getting any younger! ;)

I agree! I loved Bodyrock with Zuzana! I feel that the website used to be a community for the love of becoming healthy and strong. Although, the website still focuses on becoming healthy and strong, the website has also become more superficial related toward appearance and the use of all the extra equipment.

I noticed the bodyrock changes…but I just ignore it. I’m a fan of a no-drama lifestyle (as it seems you two are as well), and in my younger years I sometimes wanted to declare this…but now, I’ve found that I just act a certain way, ignore the rest (I haven’t been attracted to the new bodyrock workouts either). Then I find non-drama people are attracted into my life too.
Zuzana is great! She feels really sincere, and I love her workouts—I think seeing her restart with ZWOW made her even more appealing—she was a little vulnerable and had gotten slightly out of shape (not really, but for her). It made her relatable and seem like a real person.

I like to watch workouts before I do them so I insure that I’m doing things right. Tony says the body rock videos and Zuzana sound like people are having sex. Mind you he’s not watching and only hearing breathing. I’m a huge fan of HIIT workouts, but when my ab issues, I have to modify so much of those exercises. I do use them for inspiration, but I can’t say I do actual bodyrock or Zuzana workouts.

I totally agree with you girls! I did a couple of the bodyrock workouts, and still go back to look at old ones with Zuzana in them. Otherwise I don’t check their page anymore. Kind of sad how different its become in such a short amount of time. I don’t like that they use SO much equipment now. It’s supposed to be at home workouts with little equipment but they have so much stuff you need now. Oh well, I guess some people still like it, but I much prefer Zuzana’s workouts!!

I don’t know bodyrock except from reading you guys and a couple others, but I totally trust your instincts and intuitions–it sounds like you’ve followed both your head and your heart on this.

I’m glad you got back into your routine so fast–it really seems to be a good aspect of your balance and poise in life, and it’s inspiring.
I still do the Five Tibetans every morning, which is yoga-like. I sometimes think about taking a class but it’s not really my style, although doing a dvd or youtube would be really good for me sometimes.

Hi ladies! I’ve been following along with your blog for a few weeks (found you thanks to TIU) and haven’t yet posted a comment, but I wanted to weigh in on this one today.

I discovered BodyRock around this time last year. It helped me slim down a lot and become so much stronger. I loved it! But I have to agree that it’s just not the same anymore. Zuzana seemed so warm and loving. I was on board with the personnel shift initially because I found Lisa-Marie to be incredibly motivating (especially after Kyla), but now it just seems over-the-top. I could overlook the sexualization of everything when it was Zuzana because she and Freddy were married, but then I started to notice it with the guest hosts and it made me uncomfortable. The camera angles, the grease, the outfits… I know I sweat a lot when I workout, but never enough to justify working out in panties instead of shorts… I was BodyRocking anyway and ignoring my qualms, but I suffered a hip injury and the workouts were just too dynamic to fit with my physical therapy. I do enjoy going back and doing old workouts led by Zuzana, but I’ve pretty much replaced BR with her ZWOW’s. I hope she starts to use some of that old equipment soon because I’ve got a sandbag that’s collecting dust!

On a side note, I have and love the equalizer. I bought mine in June of last year to serve as a dip station. Love it! I’ll have to try your equalizer workout.

I totally feel you about the bodyrock thing! I hate to say this, but it just doesn’t seem ‘real’ anymore. Something about Zuzana’s attitude makes you really feel like you just *can*, like these fitness goals are attainable, and that she genuinely cares. Bodyrock just seems so artificial now, all about looking good and being perfect. I definitely still do some of Zuzana’s older bodyrock routines, though.
Although I only just started getting into yoga (after resisting for so long), but I’m lucky that my gym has some really great yoga classes. I also love the podcasts from yogadownload.com! They have some really great 20 minute routines, perfect for fitting in a quick session.

Hey ladies!

While I have never actually followed BodyRock, I have “followed” it through Facebook. What I found to be a turn-off (how ironic!) is the over-the-top sexual nature of the videos and still shots. I’m sorry, while it can be pretty sexy watching someone workout, I find that when a video is shot from certain angles, the focus changes. If you’re a site whose focus is geared toward informing others, don’t lose your credibility by switching your focus over to crotch shots.

And I’m TOTALLY against gossipy sites. I steer clear…

I am SO glad that you girls brought this up! When I was attempting the 30 day BR challenge I reallyyyy started to notice the negative changes too. The new workouts are very different (much more confusing, in my opinion!) and some of the angles that they take pictures from are just WAY too much.

Seriously, if I wanted to look at the inside of a woman’s butt cheek I wouldn’t go to a fitness website. Just sayin’….

Haha but on a serious note, I feel you completely! Lately I’ve been doing ZWOW and a lot of Zuzana’s old workouts

I agree with you girls (and everyone else who commented on this) about BR! I have my own reasons for not supporting Lisa’s boob job…but that’s not to bring onto this site :) . Even before all this “drama”…Lisa didn’t get me geared up for workouts like Zuzka did…which is why I’m SO happy I found her again!

I only did a few of the workouts, and I think they were with the – female not sure of her name. A lot of times I write down the workouts on cards and take them with me to the gym. So I’m not really tied to watching the YouTubes after I get the form down for what the moves are. I don’t really like the layout of BodyRock as for the site anyway. And I’m not one that has enough schedule in my life to stick to what they state my routine should be. I’m a “moody” workout – the workout will happen but it will be the feel I want for the day – if that makes sense?? I like your site for the variety … it works for me. ;) Thanks as always!

I have been doing bodyrock for a month or two and do find the content a bit sexual, but really just use the videos to get an idea of the moves and then do them on my own. I have also been following Zuzana, only because I heard about her here and did not realize she was a part of bodyrock before. I love her videos as well as bodyrock’s. I do not read any of the comments and so have been oblivious to the gossip. I just take what I need from the site, no need for negative energy during a workout. Thank you for introducing me to both these sites as well as the Tone It Up site too.

I am loving your blog! I think this might be my first time commenting. Just wanted to say that I couldn’t agree with you more. I have never been to the Bodyrock website, but I’ve heard about it before and your post made me curious. Just going to main webpage, I was taken aback by what I saw. Why does everything have to be so sexualized? Ugh. I think you made a good choice and an accurate observation of how they are running their site. Fitness should be about being “sexy”, in my opinion, it should be about feeling and becoming your best self.

Hey girls!
I’ve been following your blog for about 2 weeks when I randomly came across it (maybe Pinterest?). Because of you, I learned about HIIT (which I LOVE so much!), Bodyrock, and Zuzana. I went back to her old workouts on BR and LOVED them! She was sweet. She was real. And you could tell she was really pushing through the pain.

I got into the new Bodyrock stuff the day Lisa went in for her boob job. All of the sudden there were posts all over about boobs, and she was dressed more slutty than before. My husband saw me looking at the sight and actually thought I was looking into porn. Seriously?! Clearly NOT the role model I am looking for. I just want someone who can help me to be healthy, not hot and sexy and made of plastic. But I love the HIIT workouts, so I was torn.

It’s good to know that you have values and that you are willing to stick to them. Thank you for reminding me, and others to do the same. No more Bodyrock for me either.

I’m so glad you wrote this because I feel EXACTLY the same way! It’s so sexual now that there is just an ick factor to it. I think Zuzana is an amazing role model, and I love how positive and sweet she is. I will definitely be following HER wherever she goes, but I’m just not into bodyrock at all anymore!

So glad to know I am not the only one that got put off lately by the BR attitude/sex appeal thing…
I also used to do the workouts but now completely lost the motivation, seems like their focus is on something else at the moment.
I need to check out Zuzana’s blog and try her workouts, as when I first found bodyrock she was there and I totally enjoyed her vibe, she really is a great motivator!

It must be an American thing, gals. Other countries are not as bothered or sensitive to sexualization. I still follow BR, and do Zu’s WWOD on the weekends. Different strokes for different folks!

definately not an american only… I live in United Kingdom and showing your panties and bra when working in public out is not acceptable here as well. I think it’s a morals thing. If anything America is known to be more ‘out there’ when it comes to sexualization… in many countries that would be completely unacceptable with serious consequences. I think that “the love of money is the root of all evil” and people are willing to compromise themselves to get that. That is why you have strippers and prostitutes… its all for the money. I don’t mean to judge at all but just want to say that I get if you do that stuff cause you hurting, hate the world and no one ever told you that you were precious. But when someone seems to be controlling the reins and manipulating or gently persuading or being a bad example to another person that is another thing. To me it seemed that Lisa came to bodyrock and a few months later wants a boob job (like zuzana has). She needs to check herself, either she is too insecure to be in the spotlight without losing herself (maybe?), is letting other people influence her decisions or maybe this is what she genuinely wants. And if it is the later then in my opinion she is not a good example to young influencial minds. I wish them good luck but I want NO part of it.

I found your blog sometime last year from BR recipe post, & love your site! Like you, I was initially drawn to BR because of Zuzana’s fitness, warmth, & ability to make me believe I could achieve her level of fitness. I have continued to do BR workouts, but also do Zuzana’s. The constant discussion about the site’s image, LM’s anatomy, etc is annoying, but not relevant to why I visit the site. I get my workout & usually get out. I frequently comment on BR, but avoid the drama by sticking to scores, posting recipes, trying to help newbies, & avoiding the Facebook pages.

I have been making up more of my own routines lately, & posting some of them on my site. I am grateful to BR for introducing me to HIIT workouts & plan to continue following them, Z, & others who motivate me. Physique57 is on my list of site to check out; thanks!

I was a fan of Bodyrock.tv around 2010 and was intrigued by Zuzana. After she left, things a bit off but I was still fine with it until that boob job thing. The one that annoyed me the most is after all the talks of loving yourself blah blah, she just went off and announcing she’s going to get boob job. Totally contradictory and not to mention her forms are not that great and her workout style is just a bit too much on acrobatic side. Not something I’d like. Now just like you, I’m a fan of ZWOWs. If I’m going to do BR workout, most likely would be the ones when Zuzana was still hosting. I also found another fitness blog, another home workout but she’s totally professional and I wouldn’t say she’s a copycat from Zuzana/bodyrock.tv since she has her own workout style. :)

I agree 100% about bodyrock! I loved Zuzanna, she was able to motivate me like no other! There is too much equipment involved (where’s the burpees?) now and I can’t bear all the crotch shots and underwear workouts. Yeah, Zuz has implants and there was lots of T&A shots but they have taken it to a whole new level now. I’m loving the ZWOW’s though, very professional and you can actually see her whole body as she is doing the workout so you can see her form. The thing that has finally driven me away from bodyrock: yoga.

Yoga is a very special thing for me and watching the yoga flow video where the “instructor” has to ask freddy if she has proper form in downward dog was too much for me. I want to watch someone that knows what they are doing! If a yoga instructor is not aware of her own body while teaching yoga postures there is no point in learning from them.

I had to stop following Bodyrock too. I lost my boobs. Now they are too small and no place makes my size in bras. LOL! I was really enjoying seeing a natural girl on BR but now Lisa Marie is a constant reminder of how inadequate I feel as a women sometimes. LOL! My new years resolution was to look up to natural healthier women as role models so I have to dismiss any women to sends me the wrong message. :) I wrote about this on my blog too.

As a former BR, http://www.lovingfit.com is a amazing workout site. I’m in my second week of doing the routines on lovingfit. Tatianna is very knowlegable and she creates interesting and intense workouts.

I started doing Bodyrock workouts after Zuzana had already left, and I have found that I love Sean’s workouts. They have three new guest hosts: Lish, Haley, and Teshia, and Lish is a mother of three who is super laid-back and calm. Love her workouts as well. Teshia does yoga videos, which are great, and her personality is calming, engaging, and positive. I don’t care so much for Lisa Marie’s workouts. Not really sure why. I just never get into them as much as Sean’s.

As far as the sexual side of it, it really doesn’t bother me. I love all the hosts including Lisa for their presentations, and I think they are all really motivating, positive, and supportive through the various websites. I am also getting into Zuzka’s new site, which looks great. I think I will continue to support all of them in their endeavors. :)

I just wanted to say, the producer of bodyrock videos definitely seemed to exploit the sexual side of things in their video thumbnails, the photo angles and selection are very deliberately provocative and suggestive. But anyhow, I agree Zuzana comes across and more sincere, genuine, passionate, professional, and serious about her workouts and definitely an inspiration. I also don’t like the way bodyrocktv handled her departure and the guy Freddy / Frederick getting intimately involved with the new host Lisa-Marie. I think its unprofessional and perhaps the breakup with Zuzana was not so amicable because it would seem he posted photos of him and Lisa with intention to hurt Zuzana’s feelings. Not cool. Lisa-Marie is very fit and her physique is impressive but I have to say I still like Zuzana’s videos much more. She is the true star and deserved 90% of the credit for the success of bodyrocktv. Also I wonder why it says everywhere that she was the co-founder of bodyrocktv but it appears as if Freddy maintains the control and copyrights and such. Its almost as if he fired her or something. I know they were married but it all just seems one sided and unfair to her. I know she’s going to succeed on her own and I’m wishing her the best.

It did not annoy me that that Freddie ended up with Bodyrock but all of the past Zuz workouts are now his too; that made me loose repect for him; all those years of work Zuz put in and she cannot use those videos. I get the impression that Zuz got legally shafted. But you never hear her complain or make bitchy references to it-respect that would be so hard to do. When Lisa-Marie came along I got the impression that Freddie was trying to emotionally get at Zuz using Bodyrock. When she came back slightly out of shape and ready to start on her own I could have hugged her. My biggest complaint with Bodyrock is how merchandised it has become; the whole point of the home gym revolution the point that Zuz made to me years ago was that you do not need a-lot of fancy equipment to get fit, much of what she did (bag with added weight etc) was home improvisation. Even though she could not legally access all of the past workouts which contained much of her own ideas and energy she is carrying on regardless-without being bitchy. That is the kind of strength and decorum I admire even more than a toned bod. I still look at Bodyrock, as a site it has had the exposure with the name to get more people involved; I like how there is a Yoga segment for example. Freddie did not have to start from scratch like Zuz did. But something about Lisa-Marie turns me off, good on her for the hard work she obviously puts in but she annoys me no end. Zuz takes the time to talk about personal things like how to come to terms with cellulite and tries to make a real connection with the viewer/fellow exerciser. She is so lovely and human.

I agree with everyone on this issue. I first found bodyrock.tv and got so inspired to even want to be a personal trainer myself. I do not want to know what went on between Z & F because it’s their business but I only even do the workouts that Zuzana did. Even when I didn’t find her ZWOWs I kept doing her previous workouts from br.
