hello luvs!!
we are still struggling to get back into our daily routine over here. we just have so much stuff to do and thinking about it is somewhat overwhelming at times. but we are doing our best to take it one day at a time knowing that we will get back to ‘normal’ around here soon.
we tried our best to capture our day yesterday through our eats. but at the end of the day we realized it probably was not the best day to show as we did not have much time to really eat yesterday since we were so busy with things. but nevertheless we will share our day yesterday. this is not a typical day of eats for us. it is random. our life right now is random. so we are just going with the flow and not stressing too much as we know we will soon be back to our usually eats.
upon waking we did not have our normal 2 cups of warm water. not really sure why, just did not feel like it. really did not feel like anything. so we just got ready for the day and headed to our new kitchen to start work.
we did grab some biscotti’s to enjoy.
it is our new recipe using coconut nectar instead of maple syrup to help lower our sugar content in our biscotti. we are pleased with them. it does provide a different flavor and level of sweetness, as coconut nectar we do find not as sweet as maple. but we still enjoyed every bite. we ended up having 2 each to start our day.
stopped by starbucks to grab some coffee. Lori is drinking a little coffee again now.
while at the bakery working, we snacked on another biscotti plus a few dough balls. finished up some work. got back in the car to head to my place to workout.
did a little picking up, computer work, and some errands. then squeezed in a quick 6 minute workout.
no matter how much mess we might have- we still find room to workout
we set our Gymboss Interval Timer to 6 rounds of 10 sec (rest) and 50 sec (work)
- 1. mountain climbers
- 2. super-girl pushups
- 3. pile squats
- 4. jump squats
- 5. burpees (no pushup)
- 6. sumo pushup
we felt like doing a full body workout, so we picked 6 different exercises that we enjoy doing. we did not do plank. as we are realizing now that we have about 20-30 minute commute to work, we are going to have to keep our workouts short!
Michelle’s place right now looks like a hurricane came through haha
especially right now as Lori is still in the process of moving, we are still moving things over to the new kitchen and getting that up and running, and now Michelle is in the process of packing up and finding a place to move to.
post workout we made ourselves a green smoothie
this smoothie was romaine, basil, 1 frozen banana, Sunwarrior brown rice protein, turmeric.
inhaled that smoothie. filled our water bottles up. then hit the road again back to the kitchen with more stuff to unload.

later that afternoon we got back from making more crackers and biscotti at the kitchen and felt hungry. we grabbed another of our go-to protein based snacks – Vega protein powder. mixed it with some water and inhaled that. we usually try to enjoy each of our meals but yesterday it was all about getting food in and moving onto next project.

we also enjoyed some citrus kombucha. love this flavor! really we love anything lemon.
did manage to make a quick stop by Trader Joes to pick up some food, since we have none in the house. and must say thank goodness for pre-chopped veggies!
having these pre-chopped veggies sure did make our dinner super easy to make! perfect for busy days when you do not have a lot of time for prep work in the food department.

dinner came around after 8pm. we made egg whites with veggies and sweet potatoes. a quick healthy dinner done in under 20 minutes. love that.
later on that night Lori had a glass of goat milk, plus we both enjoyed two more dough balls. we did not do very well with our water intake yesterday. we are making up for it today! it is becoming one of our personal health goals now to really increase our water intake.
well that was our day yesterday in a quick nutshell. today has been a little bit better but pretty close to being the same! not sure when normalcy will arrive for us!
and for those that were asking Lori yesterday about them taking a honeymoon – they are. it will happen at the end of this month! which should be another great mini vacation for Lori and Gary. we are still editing photos of Lori’s wedding weekend, we will share them here soon!!!
Twins Question: what do you do when you have extremely busy days with food? do you just go with the flow and eat when you can? or do you try to prep the day before? what is your go-to meal when you are too busy to make something? we try to do prep-work for our eats the day before but since getting back into town we did not have any time for that.
till next time,
xoxo

I try to prep or at least have an idea of what I’m eating. Most days are crazy for me since I work with clients at odd times in the day. You guys just made me feel normal with the mess in the house. I feel like I am always making room to do what I need to do. I hope you’re both getting settled some today.

Hi girls, I just recently found your website through sketch-free vegan eating and love it! I made the protein thin mints, and my husband and I ate a whole batch in one sitting. Thanks for all the great info.
Sounds like you’re in a whirlwind right now!
I think steamed veggies are the easiest on the go meal, or salad, or just carrots or some sweet potato. Probably should add some avocado or something in there too…
Good luck getting settled in!
Michelle’s moving too?
I hope you all get settled soon.
love

phew what a day! My meals can get spotty too when I’m busy. For me eggs are simple and fast and I’ll eat them twice in a day no problem if it comes down to it. I’m really not the best at prepping food in advanced. Well thank goodness you two are at least busy cooking healthy snack that you can munch on if you need to!

Most the time I don’t know if my day is going to be on the go, it just takes off. But I do try to prep and have a lunch pail full of on the go proteins, veggies, and fruits to keep me going through the day. Pre making protein bars, at the beginning of the week boiling eggs and chopping celery, as well as blending up some hummus helps me keep my energy up. All the basic eating has made my digestive system really not a fan of all the processed foods anymore so I save myself the tummy pain and try to go with the flow … but in a healthy foodie way

that dinner is what i have most work nights! it’s just so easy to do eggs with some greens/veg. i am not tired of it yet! i try to prep if i know i have a a busy day but sometimes i don’t even have the time to sit down and eat so i might inhale a banana here or a hard boiled egg there etc. in fact, today was one of those days and i’m really looking forward to sitting down and slowly eating my dinner since i had no breakfast and lunch came at 2:45pm and it was hoovered in 5 mins then back to work!

we are the same way Melissa, we are planning on eggs again tonight for dinner
love them
Have mercy on yourselves – you both just went through 3 of THE biggest life changes (stressors, even if they’re happy stressors:>) a person can have: moving, marrying, and new job (well, location – but it’s still a big change!) You’ll have whole new routines so have grace with yourselves! We as readers will have grace with you!
Anyway, on busy days, I usually don’t eat enough good stuff. If I’m semi-prepared, I’ll get by with the help of clif bars and hand fruit until i get home. Otherwise, I try to have food prepped in advance and take it with me – leftovers rule!
thanks Maaike!
we will try to remember that!
I pack a few Organic Raw Food Bars in my purse to munch on when I’m on the go..They are really filling and keep me going till I can have a proper meal!

I’m a new follower of the blog-and i love it!
I imagine Lori stopped drinking coffee for her wedding, I just wanted to know why, though. Was it to cut down on any potential bloating? Just curious- wondering if I should cut down on my coffee intake!
Plus, CONGRATS LORI!
Katherine, I cut down on my coffee intake for my acne/inflammation on my face and for my hormones. I wanted to do anything that would help reduce my inflamed skin, so I cut out coffee, it helped some but still had a few pimples for my big day.
I love the way you guys squeeze in little workout intervals all the time! A few minutes here and there can totally add up (clearly! Look at those muscles!)
I know it’s always hard getting back into the swing of things. Good luck!

I can’t wait to see more wedding photos!

Even though your lives are pretty crazy right now, it seems like you guys are having a good handle on your eats! Keep up the great work

I have been slacking with water intake lately myself, but I keep on trying everyday to get better.. That’s really all you can do! I usually eat the same thing pre and post workout which is always the same time everyday.. with the rest of the day I really have no plan most of the time and just go with it- I just make sure that I have snacks along with me so that I don’t get too crazy hungry if my meals end up being far apart.. Quicky workouts are the best- and I’m thinking I need to start cutting my workouts down a bit… Keep up the great work girls!

Goodness, you girls are busy! It must be hard when you don’t have a set work schedule so you never know when it will be busier, but I think I would prefer that actually. You guys are still doing great with eating right on the go, even if its fast and way to go for keeping up with the workouts too! Once you get into the routine of adding in more water, it will be like second nature. Keep it up!

I just want to say I love how you girls write your blog. You really do a great job of inviting people into your day-to-day and makes for such easy reading. Good idea on getting rid of the coffee. I quit about 6 months ago, because of acid reflux and 2 associated ulcers (I wouldn’t have known had I not gotten a colonoscopy) and feel fantastic. I switched to matcha and am loving it! Just another word of advice though, kombucha used to be (and still is in very little moderation) my thing until I heard they ferment it in refined white sugar. Although the sugar content is low, it can still cause reactions (acne, fatigue, dizziness, etc…) due to sugar spikes.
