Lori’s Story

I am not sure if I consider myself the middle child or youngest. There are four girls in my family. I have two older sisters and a twin sister, Michelle, and I am the older twin.

Newlywed. Married my best friend. The man of my dreams.

Besides just getting married, Gary and I just bought our first home together. And dealing renovations.

I share my health journey here on the blog. I hope my story helps others who might be going through the same or similar issues. I want to show others that you can take back your health and start feeling GREAT again. I know that the way I eat might not be for every one and that is ok. As long as you feel great and happy that is all that matters.

I hope you come along with me and my journey of finding balance and happiness and see what things I get myself into 😉

Thanks for stopping by

Hi Lori,
I just discovered your blog today and I am excited to read more.
I was reading your story and I wanted to let you know about evening primrose oil. If you don’t already take this supplement I would highly recommend it because it balances hormones and is also a good source of fat. Within about a month of taking about 1500-3000 mg/day my next period was almost entirely cramp free–and I’ve suffered from horrible cramps in my life. My next period a month later was 99% cramp free. Then over this past summer I got lazy and stopped taking it. Sure enough–my next period brought the worst cramps in awhile. Now I do my best to take it regularly. It is exciting to find something that works so I thought I’d let you know.

Hope you’re having a beautiful day!

Thank you Whitney for letting me know. I am taking a Omega 3-6 oil blend and I believe it has evening primrose oil in it, I will have to check though. HUGS

I think it is unbelievably how artificial hormones influence our bodies, especially when your body reacts very sensitive to everything!!! When I took the pill it was literally killing me. I was getting the worst migraines with preceding aura (blurred vision, unilateral numbness in extremities), I was unable to build muscle, I gain so much weight, I was feeling depressed and basically couldnt handle myself and my life. The first day I went off it was already such a relief!! and now I am battling since 2 years for my period to get back to a regular cycle. I mean I am doing a lot of HIIT and bodyrock now so maybe body composition has got to do with it also (maybe more lean muscle??) but I still struggle with it. It usually misses up to 4 months and then I get it again twice with like 2 weeks in between. it really bothers me and affects me more than Id probably like to admit.
besides the more or less constant fear that “something” might be happening, it’s always in the back of my head. grrrrrrr

but nevertheless I am soso glad that I went off the pill, and I would never go back. and also Id probably never ever let my future daughter take it. I think that also might play a role why so many young girls are struggling with depression nowadays. It just kills you but there is way too much money and power behind all of this for someone to stand up and actually say something.

I wrote more about the entire bc topic in this blogpost:

I just found your site and read your story. I have had to cut out gluten, eggs, dairy, corn, all types of nuts, and yeast so I know just how you feel! First of all, thank you for being an encouragement to me! I know that I am not the only one out there with these types of “food issues” but when you go through them you feel that way. Since childhood I have always had a sensitivity to eggs and dairy and as I got older I noticed that these things were giving me stomach and digestive problems, and now being gluten, egg, dairy, nut, yeast and corn free for almost a year I feel much better, I am more active then I was and I just feel good inside! Thanks again for putting your story out there for others like me to read and to be encouraged by!

Hi Lori,
First of all I would like to say Thank You for such awesome website. I can totally relate.
I just recently went off my birth control pill (3 months ago) and ‘oh boy’ talk about acne. I don’t want to go back on it. I will try Maca and Vitex.
My question to you would be – How long til you noticed any difference in your skin???
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Once again Thank you for putting your story out here for us to read. It’s encouraging.
