Lori’s Story
I am not sure if I consider myself the middle child or youngest. There are four girls in my family. I have two older sisters and a twin sister, Michelle, and I am the older twin. I am engaged to the man of my dreams. Planning for my April 2012 wedding.
Here is my background in a nutshell.
As a young child I suffered from stomach and digestive issues, which I still suffer some. I share on P2R my journey towards healing.
As I got older I began to realize that maybe it was the food I was eating that caused me to feel so bad. I mean it is not normal to not go to the bathroom everyday. After college that is when I decided to make my health a priority. I am determined to understand my body, which I am realizing I will always be learning.
I started to eliminate certain foods out of my diet to see if that helped me feel better and it did but not completely. After more years of playing with all types of diets and foods I currently I eat a diet free of wheat, gluten, corn, egg, dairy, peanut, soy, and feel MY best when I avoid meat. I do eat a high raw plant based diet along with a little fish and eggs. I have learned that FOR ME my body thrives when I eat mostly fruits and vegetables.
Presently I am struggling with hormone imbalance and as a result depression. I went off the pill about a two years ago, and ever since I have been in a constant battle with my hormones. My period has just finally returned after one year and for the first time I am dealing with acne (read my updated story here). I have been experimenting more with my diet, my omega 3s, and supplementation’s hoping to bring me back to balance. Each day I am getting better. More positive about life!
I hope my story helps others who might be going through the same or similar issues. I want to show others that you can take back your health and start feeling GREAT again. I know that the way I eat might not be for every one and that is ok. As long as you feel great and happy that is all that matters.

I just discovered your blog today and I am excited to read more.
I was reading your story and I wanted to let you know about evening primrose oil. If you don’t already take this supplement I would highly recommend it because it balances hormones and is also a good source of fat. Within about a month of taking about 1500-3000 mg/day my next period was almost entirely cramp free–and I’ve suffered from horrible cramps in my life. My next period a month later was 99% cramp free. Then over this past summer I got lazy and stopped taking it. Sure enough–my next period brought the worst cramps in awhile. Now I do my best to take it regularly. It is exciting to find something that works so I thought I’d let you know.

Thank you Whitney for letting me know. I am taking a Omega 3-6 oil blend and I believe it has evening primrose oil in it, I will have to check though. HUGS
