Thrive + pre-workout snack

Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 09:22 AM

Hey luvs

Glad to see everyone enjoyed our version of the childhood classic Oatmeal Kreme Pie Cookie.

Lori and I have been trying to create new pre-workout snacks, because the ones from the marathon worked so well for us that we are interested in creating more.

Check out the one we created yesterday:

IMG_4417

Can you guess what it is??

IMG_4422It was so good!! You all know we love our puddings ; )

This one was a blend of our coconut kefir mixed with banana, coconut oil, dates, vanilla, spirulina, maca, and sprinkled with cacao nibs

We just finished reading the latest book from the wonderful Brendan Brazier and we would like to thank the team of Vega for sending us the book to read!! We loved it!

Brendan’s new book is a continuation of his first book Thrive, another great read if you have not read it already! Thrive focused on the basics of fitness and the importance of proper nutrition. Thrive Fitness is geared to improving your athletic performance. Now some people may be thinking they are not athletes, but I feel anyone who loves to get a good workout in is an athlete. There are just different levels of athletes ; ) because there are all types of exercise!!

We feel everyone would benefit from reading Brendan’s new book. Individuals new to working out would start to see the benefits of a regular fitness routine. As veterans you can see how you can improve your endurance and stamina. Now what person does not what that for their workouts ? People who just workout on an everyday bases, like us, would benefit because there are little tips that you may not have thought to try before, plus there are more great recipes!!

We love how Brendan refers to it as lifestyle. Lori and I totally agree because change does not happen overnight. We have to constantly work at it, but the key is to find something that you enjoy. As Brendan says, if you enjoy something you tend to stick with it!

I enjoyed learning more about short high intensity trainings. Back in high school I can attest that this works because over the summers we would have some hard intense training sessions with our volleyball coach. Nothing like you can imagine. We did all types of jump training activities out the hot Florida heat, followed by sprints, running up and down bleachers. Well to make my point, at the beginning of our training our coach measured our performance on a few things, one was our vertical jump. And at the end of the summer Lori and I both improved our vertical jump by 7 IN!!!! That is huge!!! Our coach was blown away…I must say we both were in the best shape of our lives then. Oh sometimes I wish I could go back….sometimes ; )

I would recommend everyone to read Thrive Fitness because whether you are a beginner or seasonal athlete, each person can learn and take what they want away from Brendan’s tips. And I love learning something new ;  )  We should all look at ourselves as everyday students. That you can never learn too much, that everyone has something new to bring to the table.

Brendan does a great job reviewing what key ingredients are needed for good fitness. I like how he has a nutrition and training log, which is great for those who need to visualize things to reach their goals. Lori and I both have been enjoying our new style of workouts and are excited to try some of Brendan’s recipes to see if we notice anything from them.

Check back in tomorrow…here is a sneak peak why…

Déjà Vu

Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 08:47 AM

Good Morning friends,

Glad to see everyone liking our malted chocolate avocado pudding, so good. I will share the recipe with you next time I make it. It has been a little crazy around here, but it a good way ;) They are predicting snow, sleet and ice this coming weekend! Which means not sure what is going to happen with the farmers market :/

Workout:

Yesterday Michelle and I took to the road for an easy run. We did about 40 minutes total of a mix of running and walking. We geared up in our Under Armour clothing that we were in for our marathon because it was in the 20s again for our morning run. It was déjà vu for us.

Does déjà vu ever happen to you? One thing that my boyfriend always says when it happens to him that he tries really hard to think of what is going to happen next! Now that is what I always think of when deja vu happens to me!

It felt glorious to just put our shoes and warm clothes on and just run. We didn’t really have any set time or goal we just wanted to get outside and stretch the legs a little. Sometimes I enjoy those runs more than when I actually have a set time or distance. Or maybe it was because I was not training for anything. My mind was free and ready to just enjoy the run :)

Though it was weird running outside freezing when there was nothing to be training for at the moment :/

To treat ourselves when we got back we whipped a creamy delicious smoothie

Jan 2010 pics more 511

Gladly enjoyed this smoothie out of our marathon wine cups :) This green smoothie was filled with parsley, banana, spinach, coconut oil, msm powder, maca, lemon juice, and ginger! Superb! Great combination to have after a run, got the potassium, iron, alkalinity to put my body back to balance!

Little bit later got the munchies so grabbed some fermented veggies and a big scoop of tahini.

Jan 2010 pics more 540

Was a little bit on the cold side so made some coconut milk chai tea with a slice of raw onion flatbread

Jan 2010 pics more 544

Jan 2010 pics more 546

Than it was time for LUNCH! Well it was a little late lunch. But we enjoyed an arugula avocado wilted salad with some dulse flakes, lemon juice, and a sprinkle of our cheez crackers :) Splendid!

Jan 2010 pics more 569

We did enjoy this salad of real food while watching the all anticipated Oprah.

Our thoughts on the show:

1) Overall great that Oprah brought this very important topic to her show :)

2) Michael Pollen is truly inspirational and makes you want to really spread the world about how much the food industry has changed. Please go out and see Food Inc and make your own opinions! Knowledge is power!

3) Little disappointed that not more was said about really “HOW” to change the government and food industry to stop making Americans fat! Stop hiding sugar  and corn in our foods!!!!!!

4) Wish they showed more of the impact of the meat industry and the overall food industry has on the environment – how it impacts your local community, local farmers, etc. And especially how it impacts our kids generations, and their generations to come! How it is so hard for people to get fresh produce? Why does have to be so hard for people to eat healthy? Why is buying a can of processed food ok with people? Remember you have choices and options!

I would rather pay $2.00 for an apple over paying medical bills the rest of my life. And with wholesome foods less is more!

Ok well that is my two cents on the matter! Sorry for being so bold about everything it is a topic that I am very passionate about. I just care so much for the general health of Americans and really would love to change how people view their food :)

What were your thoughts if you got to see it? If not, what are your thoughts in general about the food industry and how our food has changed so much over the years?

Do you think the overall show was a success or failure?

Want to do know why to go vegan?

Dinner was a simple coconut kefir spirulina smoothie with coconut oil, sunflower lecthin, stevia, and yacon syrup! Sprinkled a little cacao nibs on top for a little bonus!

Jan 2010 pics more 581

Later we sipped on some kombucha!

Till next time,

Lori

Yoga vs Gym

Monday, January 18, 2010 at 08:54 AM

Hello luvs,

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We are so happy to see and hear that our story of our battle with hormones and our skin care routine is helping you all out :) We wanted to share our story in effort to help someone else who maybe dealing with the same issues!

In case you missed any of the hormone action you can catch up here, here, and here

I wanted to share with you a quick re-cap of our some of eats over these past few days.

Lots of delicious green smoothies, of course ;)

Jan 2010 pics 462

This one out of our new marathon cups – great buy!

Jan 2010 pics 461

Jan 2010 pics 506

Had one kombucha while shopping at the grocery store

Jan 2010 pics 464 Trilogy is one of our favorite flavors though the lemon and ginger are our top 2 favorites :)

Our ever so favorite meal: raw sauerkraut

Jan 2010 pics 452

Jan 2010 pics 456 We added some MSM – E3 Renew Me into it. This is a new product we have added to our diet due to the MSM in it :)

Jan 2010 pics 458

Simple yet satisfying salads – becoming our favorite meal!

Jan 2010 pics 466

Jan 2010 pics 469

Starting to get back into juicing a few times a week. By having some fresh juice while down in Orlando made us realize how much we miss our fresh vegetable juices

Jan 2010 pics 474

Beets, carrots, cucumber, celery, burdock root, and ginger

More coconut kefir – this one made into a basil smoothie! Seriously delicious. So thick and creamy and a little sweet from the stevia :) YUM!

Jan 2010 pics 650

Some chia pudding with all our favorite fixins like coconut flakes, coconut oil ,and cacao nibs with a dash of stevia drops

Jan 2010 pics 481

Made some roasted vegetables with some coconut oil, rosemary, coriander seeds, and sea salt

Jan 2010 pics 532

Rosemary has to be one of my all time favorite spices to roast veggies with!

What is your go to herb or spice to grab for roasting your veggies?

Now that is just a few of our meals that we have been enjoying over these past few days.

As for our workouts:

Yoga vs. Gym?

We did it! We cancelled our gym membership and started going to some local yoga studios to start really concentrating on our yoga practice :) *Now I know some of you are probably like “why is cancelling a gym membership so great?” Well one of our new year goals was to start doing more yoga and therefore could not afford both a gym membership and yoga one. And we decided to go with yoga this time : ) over paying for our gym membership. Yes they do offer yoga classes but it is not the same as actually going to a YOGA studio. Well, at least for us it is not the same! We like the whole experience of going to yoga studios.

So far we have done two different classes at two different studios. Still trying to figure out what studio we like best :) Plan to do more classes this week. Also we went for our first run after our marathon on Saturday. It was a nice 30 minute run. It was hard at first but after the first 15 minutes we got back into our running groove. Though must admit it felt weird running again after the race. We are really starting to enjoy yoga and strength training now over the pounding aching body we feel from running!

Our fitness routine is changing a bit this new year. We still plan on running about once a week but trying to focus our yoga, core strength, walking and jump training type activities.

Off to go for a walk.

Till next time,

Lori

Nothing like being surprised

Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 07:31 AM

We are back in the lovely NC!

We drove back from Orlando,FL yesterday and returned home. Did some unpacking and some work. Sounds like vacation is no longer happening?!?!

Thanks again to everyone for your wonderful and support with our Disney marathon. Still hard to believe it is all over. Congrats to all the other runners who finished as well. It is a great accomplishment what a great way to start the new year! :) If you happened to miss any of our marathon race re-cap you can check them out here. and here! :)

Here is a re-cap of our road trip eats from yesterday’s travels:

Very early morning hemp protein cilantro shake

Jan 2010 pics 412Sorry for the not so pretty picture is was still dark out!

A little bit later when the sun finally showed up we snacked on some more little raw snack bites

Jan 2010 pics 420Though we were extremely tired so we had to stop and grab some coffee. Luckily there was a Whole Foods in Jacksonville to save the day!

Jan 2010 pics 422We love the Allegro coffee at Whole Foods!

This caffeine fixed sure hit the spot for us both :) Helped perk us up for the remaining drive!

Though having a green smoothie and our favorite cocktail Kombucha tea helps too ;)

Jan 2010 pics 423

That kept us full of a good bit of the afternoon though near the end of trip we started getting a little hungry again so we grabbed a slice of one of our newest raw onion flatbread creations

Jan 2010 pics 429 Thoughts on new flavor? Glorious! Mouthwatering! The perfect crunch and flavor :) Love it when a new recipe turns out!

After unloading the car and getting back to reality we made ourselves a beautiful salad.

Jan 2010 pics 434

Arugula salad with avocado, lemon juice, sea salt, dulse flakes and garlic.

Than we realized our salad was missing something?!?!

Jan 2010 pics 438 Yes that is much better. We threw some raw crackers on top! Perfect!

Jan 2010 pics 441

As you can tell we are obsessed with these little guys! They make the perfect salad toppers in our opinion ;)

But not only was this salad satisfying we were surprised when we saw this sitting at our front door!!!!!

Jan 2010 pics 444

A package from the ever so lovely and sweet Heather!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you Heather. We were so surprised to see this waiting for us! :)

The package was full of amazing goodies that are Heathers favorites and we can not wait to TRY!!!

Jan 2010 pics 447

Thanks again Heather! You are so sweet and we honored to have received this package :)

We have some exciting news coming our way to share with you all. We hope to post about it later.

Have a good day.

Till next time,

Final Celebration

Monday, January 11, 2010 at 06:56 PM

Hey friends,

How is everyone’s Monday going? Thanks to everyone’s wonderful comments on our marathon re-cap. :) It is so nice to hear from our readers!!!! We appreciate all your support.

Ours is going pretty well!!!!!!! Just a tad sore but not as bad as we were for our first marathon. Must be from the raw foods and smoothies ;)

After our  post-workout pudding and smoothie yesterday, we took an hour cat-nap. Than woke up starving. So we snacked on small of our raw crackers and flatbreads.

Had some of our older sisters roasted veggie soup

marathon week pics-m 149

Ate some our raw racing snacks that we had leftover

marathon week pics-m 151

No white sugar, processed, full of preservatives or white flour post race food here! Only the best things for our bodies to recovery from all the stress we just put on our bodies from running ;)

That was pretty much it for the rest of the evening. We went to bed pretty earlier. We did want some wine though we decided to wait till today to enjoy it!

_JEN6476 Sisters medals from the weekend (half, full, goofy)_JEN6494And ours full marathon medals! Aren’t they so pretty?

Besides from feeling great we got to finally go see AVATAR! And it was awesome! We saw the 3-D Version! Avatar is definitely a must see movie. Even though it was a long movie and didn’t feel really long. Fantastic sound effects and overall great story. Love all the different messages throughout the movie :)

After movie we headed back to the sis’s place and started getting things ready for our road trip again for tomorrow to head back to reality :(   Hard to believe the marathon is already over. All that training done with. Not sure if we be doing anymore races this coming year but you never know ;) One thing we do plan on doing more is YOGA. That is going to be our main fitness focus.

Today’s Eats were:

Breakfast was yet another green smoothie.

Snack before the movie was some raw onion flatbread.

No lunch we watched Avatar instead!

marathon week pics-m 155 Don’t you just love our glasses???

Stopped by whole foods to grab some green smoothies essentials for our road trip tomorrow.  And finally got our cocktail!

marathon week pics-m 158

Dinner was a huge salad! Salad was filled with all the delicious fixins we love so much like sauerkraut, fermented veggies, onion flatbread, and a homemade tahini basil dressing with some garlic :)

Disney Marathon Re-Cap

Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 05:37 PM

WE MADE IT!!!

Yes we survived our second Marathon!! It was a long and cold day (was a record low for Florida) but we are very proud of ourselves for finishing it :) Hard to believe it happened and it is all done! We were pretty nervous on how the cold would effect us because we do not handle cold running weather well ;)

Thanks again to all of our friends and readers for the good luck wishes. It means a lot to us both :)

And congrats to all the other marathoners today – great job!

Here is how our day started:

Alarm clock going off at 2am!

marathon week pics 385

Lori’s outfit!   marathon week pics 388Michelle’s outfit!

Got dressed and ate breakfast :dates, bananas, spirulina, coconut oil, agave nectar, dulse flakes, maca

marathon week pics 354

Lori’s First few layers of clothing

marathon week pics 360

First layer was a tank and second layer was Under Armour cold gear plus arm warmers over it!

Michelle’s layers (same kind of layers though she already put her hat on)

marathon week pics 365

Next layer

marathon week pics 370

Added another Under Armour cold gear sweater, nike hat, and ear warmers! (Boy does my head looked big)

marathon week pics 371

We forgot to take a picture of our final outer layer. Though it was another Under Armour Jacket plus 2 gloves (our outer pair was bright PINK)! Also we had a scarf and wrapped ourselves in a blanket!!!!!!!! I think that should do it to fight off 20 degree running weather!

Though we ended up tossing the blanket right before our corral started going!

And Big Thanks for UNDER ARMOUR Clothing!!!!!!!!!!!! Our outfits saved us from freezing to death at this marathon :) We loved everything we wore definitely great buys.

Next was making sure we had everything and put on racing bibs on (though never took any layers off so no one really saw our numbers) :)

Than it was race time – took the monorail leaving our resort to head over! Ate pre-workout snack. Hit the spot for us!

Boy it was a cold one by the time we got to the start line! Got in our corral and it was ready to go!!!! We just made it :)

Than we were off!!!

Our marathon plans had to be altered a little bit because our older sister who WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO RUN due to her health decided to run anyways (I do not recommend this for others who are very sick) The main reason our sister wanted to run it is because she does the Goofy and it was their 5th year anniversary and she wanted the medal (she has done 4 of them in a row- she is crazy)! Therefore, we stayed with her and started the race at a tad slower pace than we anticipated. We just did not want to leave her in case something happened.

The first 3 miles were interesting for us. We had some major technology malfunctions. First my watch went dead! Second our sister’s Garmin was giving us problems. Third, we had so much to carry due to all the layers it was getting annoying (though we did not want to take anything off because we knew it was going to be cold majority of the race)

But do to our delicious and powerful sports spirulina drink she managed to stay with us at a decent pace up until mile 15. Once we got there she decided she needed to walk a little bit more, but told us to keep going! We felt bad leaving though I know she wanted us to reach our goal.

marathon week pics-m 135

Therefore at mile 15 we said goodbye to the sis and made sure she had plenty of spirulina coconut water and some of our raw race snacks to help her finish ;)

Majority of the race we did a 4:1 but the last few miles we decided to just run and take walk breaks if we needed them. And that is what we did :)

marathon week pics-m 138Here is Michelle and I with a pirate. We always try to get Jack Sparrow (michelle is a HUGE FAN) though line always so long but this pirate was kind of enough to come to us! :)

Overall we both felt great besides the blisters and our fingers being numb. Don’t get me wrong we both were tired and feeling the pain by mile 20 though we kept pushing along.

I started breaking down around mile 23. My blisters on both feet were KILLING ME and my left calf felt like I pulled it. Michelle’s right leg was giving her problems majority of the race. Oh the joys of running a 26.2 mile run.

We managed to pull ourselves together and finish the race under 5 hours! :) That was our goal!!!! We are pretty proud of ourselves because we had a lot of time to make up from running slow in beginning. And we ran the marathon without taking any pills like Tylenol!!! And we never went to bathroom the whole entire race which is a big deal because having such weak stomachs we typically have too! Our older sister managed to do the same. And she finished as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are so proud of our sister, what a champ!

And big thanks to Nutrex Hawaiian Spriulina! What a true superfood! Not only did it get us through the marathon it helped our sick sister finish as well :) We are truly grateful for such a great product. It has made her a believer that if you give your body the right ingredients/nutrition you can succeed and heal!

marathon week pics-m 146

The only thing we ate during the race was a few of our raw race snacks and drank our spirulina coconut water! That is it and it fueled us just fine. No complaints here!

See being high raw vegans (and someone who suffers from stomach issues like us) you can do anything that anyone else can do! :) You just have to be a little more open minded and creative!

We do not consider ourselves “runners” we just like good workout challenge every once in a while :)   Not sure if we will do another marathon but we are pretty proud of ourselves for doing 2 of them!

We came home and showered up! And put some nice warm clothes on. We were all still so COLD, not sure if we really ever got hot at the race ;)

We enjoyed post-race pudding in the car ride pack to resort! Delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

marathon week pics 326

Than devoured our green parsley smoothie our post-workout smoothie. Always hits the spot!

marathon week pics 377We added some coconut flakes to ours :) as a little treat!

marathon week pics 392

Ok time to go big out! :)   We will show more pictures of our race tomorrow once we download them off our sister’s husbands camera.

Till next time,

The Twins

The night before our Disney Marathon

Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 06:24 PM

Hello friends,

How is everyone’s Saturday going?!?

Our day started pretty darn early cheering our older sister in the half marathon this morning.

After an interesting and cold morning we quickly got ready for our bloggers lunch that the lovely Ashley put together. Thanks again Ashley!

Met a bunch of amazing ladies (and men) at the Peach Valley Cafe in Orlando,FL. It was a great gathering we really enjoyed ourselves! :)

marathon week pics 320

As we I mentioned before we had a little snack before leaving because we were not sure if we would find something to eat.

On the way to the restaurant we drank coconut water to keep us hydrated.

marathon week pics-m 109

I ordered a bowl of fruit…I ate everything besides the melons, I do not like melons.

marathon week pics-m 112

Lori ordered just a plain avocado, but she missed her freshly squeezed lime juice and sea salt :(

marathon week pics-m 113

We got to sit across these amazing ladies!

marathon week pics-m 114

Caitlin, Melissa, and Sabrina

And the wonderful Meghann sat next to us : )

marathon week pics-m 115Ashley

Everyone else’s food looked amazing and all seemed to enjoy it  : )  We had a great time talking with everyone and looked forward to one day meeting them again in the future.

Here are some pictures from today’s lunch. Good luck to you all in your race and sorry some of our conversations were not as long as we would have liked, we will do better next time ; )

marathon week pics-m 118Us with Katy, Ashley, and Ryan

marathon week pics-m 119Jenn and Tish, and Rachel, and more lovely ladies, sorry I did not catch your names : (

marathon week pics-m 120 Me, Sabrina, and Lori

Then before heading back to the hotel to rest up we ran into Fresh Market to pickup some lemons (must stay alkalized) and mango flavored coconut water.

marathon week pics 300 We came back and made our homemade Spirulina sports drink that helped our sister complete her race today.

Here are our sports bottles ready to go.

marathon week pics-m 125

And dinner was a a slice of green onion bread (we just love them) and green kale smoothie (staying alkalized) topped with coconut oil  (energy powerhouse) and maca (stress reducer)

marathon week pics 313

marathon week pics 315

We also enjoyed some Zico Coconut Water – Mango flavor which is a new flavor for us. Typically we liked the plain coconut water but this was not too bad. A tad sweet but refreshing, though do like the plain coconut water better. We are just not big fans of flavored water type drinks.

Benefits of the things you have been seeing us eat:

Green smoothies – all the vitamins and minerals our bodies need to sustain a race, like iron which you lose during exercising

Maca – great for stress, supports immune system, and can increase energy and endurance

Dulse – full of electrolytes and trace minerals, keeps us hydrated

Coconut oil – Full of lauric acid, good fat for energy, best source for fuel

coconut water – full of electrolytes, keeps us hydrated

fermented foods – full probiotics to keep our tummies happy, predigested foods so our tummies do not waste time digesting foods, just give our bodies the energy it needs

Yacon syrup – lower glycemic sugar that is full of mineral and prebiotics, which help keep friendly bacteria in us

Dates/bananas – great source for sugar that is converted into energy

If anyone has any questions, please leave a comment and we would happily answer them!

Now here all the goodies we will have before, during and post race!

Pre-race snack 1 – Date spirulina pudding – we will eat while getting dressed early in the morning

marathon week pics 354

Pre-race snack 2- Coconut chia pudding – we will eat this about 20-30 minutes before the race

marathon week pics 336

And a variety of little balls that we will enjoy throughout the race with our Spirulina sports drink

marathon week pics 330

Post-race meal – Banana Maca Pudding – we will eat when race is over

marathon week pics 326

Sorry for the long post, but we are not sure when we will get our race re-cap.

Good luck to all runners! We will continue to heal and grow stronger with our raw vegan diet. We hope to give you tips and guidance throughout our journey :)

Good night everyone hopefully we can check in with you all tomorrow to let you know we are alive :)

Till next time, here we go with our second marathon!

Spirulina saved the day

Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10:05 AM

Hey everyone,

Congrats to all the Disney Half Marathon Runners!!! What a day it was.

Our older sis Jen, and her mother-in-law, Sally, made it!!!

The sis told us our spirulina sports drink helped get her through the race. She felt great despite the cold, rainy weather  : )

marathon week pics 282 She was upset it was empty, but no worries we had another one filled for her!

marathon week pics-m 100Check out the bottle in her pocket!

She also enjoyed some of the goodies Lori and I will be enjoying tomorrow on our race day, so glad to see they worked!!

We did not sleep much last night, plus got up 3am with the sis to get her all ready.  Then laid back down for an hour then it was time to get dressed to go stand in the cold as we cheer them on.

Before we left the hotel we each grabbed two fudge brownie bites. Then after seeing Jen and Sally outside our hotel, which was around mile marker 4.5. We jumped on the monorail and to meet them over at the Grand Floridian.

As we watched Jen and Sally head down the road back to Epcot, we jumped back on monorail and ran up to the room to have ourselves some of raw coconut yogurt with msm and yacon syrup. Sorry no picture we were in a hurry.

Then we headed back on monorail to head to Epcot and watch them cross the finish line.

marathon week pics 290

They made it!!!  Smiling : )

Now we are back at hotel getting ready to the blogger lunch!

Although we did grab some food just in case we cannot find something we can eat.

Handful of raw crackers

marathon week pics 291

Slice of onion bread

marathon week pics 296

And about 1/2 cup of unpictured raw sauerkraut with tahini…yes out of the jar!!!

Now sipping on a cup of ginger tea to warm up and then we are heading in a few minutes ; )

marathon week pics 298

Till next time,

2 Days before the marathon

Friday, January 8, 2010 at 08:06 PM

Good Morning friends,

Well as many people are running in the half marathon this morning like Sabrina, Katy, and Melissa to name just a few. We wanted to wish them all the best of luck in the race :)

We have been getting questions of why we are eating the foods we are eating before our race and we plan to share that with you all over these next few days.

We started our day yesterday with a few chocolate truffles and treated ourselves to some coffee.

Than we went to the hotel’s gym to do a easy 30 minute workout. We did a mix of walk, sprint, and easy jog. Then we did a little stretching. Felt great! :)

marathon week pics 245

Back in the room we enjoyed a romaine grapefruit smoothie with some maca, coconut oil, sunflower lecthin, and msm powder. Delicious!!!! It got thick from the coconut oil so it turned out to be more like a pudding! :)

marathon week pics 252

Again eating out of a jar just for Heather :)

marathon week pics 248

Seriously one of the best ways to start the day!! Although it turned out to be our lunch.

Next we packed up all our bags again and moved into another hotel! Traveling with us can be crazy sometimes!

As we drove over to the other hotel we snacked on some raw crackers that we made before leaving NC.

marathon week pics-m 080

By the time we unloaded all the bags again we got a little hungry. So Michelle whipped up some coconut yogurt with some spirulina, yacon syrup, and chia seeds.

Plus we sipped on some kombucha.

And the craziness begins

Friday, January 8, 2010 at 03:30 PM

Hey luvs

Sorry that our music playlist came out so small. We are not sure what happened when we imported it ; /

As we mentioned earlier that we were having technology issues. But we are back in action. Glad to see everyone enjoying our first video!!! :)

Here is our day yesterday!!!!

Today we started our morning with one of our typical green smoothies, similar to yesterday.

Glass of water kefir was a mid-morning snack.

Lunch was a glorious salad with fermented veggies, raw sauerkraut, and a slice of raw onion flatbread. Perfect!!! This kept us full all afternoon : )

Snack was un-pictured chocolate macaroons and glass of our homemade Kombucha. We had to show the sis a scoby!!

Then we debated if we wanted to go for a quick run or hit up the expo. We decided the expo to hopefully beat the crowd.

At Disney Marathon Expo at the Wide World of Sports.

Getting excited for the race…we think ; )

The expo was crazy as it is every year. Although this year was our first year going on Thursday (our past races Friday is normally the day we arrived), which was nice because it was a little less crowded.

We did browse all the booths but nothing really sparked our interest. It is the same thing every year. Well the expo took longer than we expected, so no workout today : (

We got our goody bag, race bib, race t-shirt, and these most essential post race celebration tools

marathon week pics 204 By the time we got back, we were starving and quickly gobbled down some yummy eats.

The first part was inspired by the wonderful Heather.

Our first meal out of a jar full of fermented carrots and daikon plus a couple spoonfuls of tahini.marathon week pics-m 038

Yummy and creamymarathon week pics 160We sprinkled in dulse and nutritional yeast!

marathon week pics-m 041

marathon week pics 164Seriously this was the best meal….something we plan to recreate again. Heather I think we love tahini just as much as you do : )

Hopefully we made you proud Heather.

Second part of our meal was our homemade raw yogurt which we stirred in chia seeds and drizzled with yacon syrup!! YUM! Look like ice cream.

And of course we have been staying hydrated with our lots of water and some coconut water : ) Gotta love Zico!!

Then we quickly rushed and packed the cars and headed to our hotel. Well hotel number one for this night. This part is a little confusing, our sister got us a room closer for the marathon, the resort we try to stay at every time therefore we leave here tomorrow to check in there tomorrow. The joys of being in our family…we tend to make things a bit more complicated.

My older sister and her husband our Disney Vacation club members and had a room for the weekend at Saratoga Springs at the same time of the marathon.

Having a fridge is a must now for us raw vegans : )

marathon week pics-m 005 Lori was kind and made us all some tea.

marathon week pics-m 013 Finally relaxing while watching the big game.

Off to go relax hopefully!
