Here it is everyone: Holiday Macaroons

Friday, December 18, 2009 at 03:23 PM

Hey luvs

Happy Friday to you all! We all survived another week!

We are glad everyone enjoyed our 7 random things. Isn’t fun getting to know others?!?! We think so that is one thing that we love to do is meet and get to know as many people as we can. Because we feel each person that we meet teaches us something new and that is exciting to us :)

Here is our Candy Cane Macaroon as promised : )  A great holiday treat for anyone! So make up a batch for your family, holiday party, neighbor, or co-worker and even for yourself! This recipe is so easy to make and healthier than the store bought ones ;)   A delicious gluten free vegan raw dessert that everyone will love even the kids!

Pure2Raw Recipe: Candy Cane Macaroon

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup almond or cashew flour
  • 1/2 cup agave + 1 tbsp
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • And then the special ingredient

CIMG8185

Yep goji berries a.k.a. peppermint candies

We just pulsed the goji berries a little in the food processor to get them into smaller pieces. * It does get a little sticky. And if you do not have a food processor you can leave whole or slightly chop them by hand.

One of our customers really thought we found gluten free peppermint candies….and then we told her there is no candy in them just goji berries. She was even more thrilled to find out they were actually good for her which led her to buy more : )

Now we made these on the sweet side because we wanted it to resemble candy. So if you do not want them as sweet do not add the additional 1 tbsp of agave. You may add some coconut oil or water.

Directions

Place all ingredients into a bowl and stir!

CIMG8175

CIMG8178

Yep that is it. So easy ; )

CIMG8180

Isn’t it such a beautiful batter! CIMG8176

CIMG8179

Place into fridge to set

CIMG8191

CIMG8192

Then scoop using a small cookie scooper.

We dehydrated ours for a few hours, although it is not necessary! You can get away with just placing them into refrigerator to set!

So it is great recipe for everyone…

No dehydrator needed!! No oven needed!!

Just a bowl and stir : )

Why we love this recipe:

  • easy to make
  • few ingredients
  • no real special tools needed
  • taste great with all natural ingredients
  • gluten free, vegan, corn free, soy free, peanut free and low-glycemic
  • quick to make
  • Best of all get to indulge guilt free this holiday season with this raw holiday treat
  • full of antioxidants and 500x more Vita-C than oranges
  • healthy fats from the coconut and almonds (now we all know how important it is to consume our healthy fats)

We hope you all enjoy! Don’t worry we plan to share more recipes with you all soon :)

Happy Friday everyone. Does anyone have fun plans?

You wanna know want the twins will be doing on their Friday night – doing finance – Quickbooks! That is what I am talking about a fun and exciting night. Don’t be jealous ;)

Till next time,

Pure inside and out

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 03:59 PM

Hello everyone,

Today was our 3rd day of our little detox cleanse. And today sure was tough for the both of us. Though we did manage to get through it. We both got headaches again today that stayed with us both… still with us as we end our day. UGH! We have two more days of our detox cleanse of majority liquid base foods. By having us “eat” majority liquid base foods has certainly helped us with perfecting some of our smoothie, juice, and pudding recipes. That’s a huge plus!!

Re-cap of our food for the remaining of the day:

Mid morning snack – our green coffee

IMG_8044Yes we love to make green coffee. This one here is made out of:

3 cups water

2 tbsp carob powder

4 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes

4 dates

1 1/2 tsp chlorella

1 tsp vanilla bean powder

Blend and enjoy. This one even got a little frothy like a latte : ) Nice!

Michelle and I both were quite hungry this morning not sure why, we just were. Therefore we made ourselves a late snack/early lunch meal, which turned out to be a green pudding! It was delicious. Base of the pudding was figs, we had some fresh figs that we had frozen and decided to use them. I was craving figs! I just love fig season! I should grow my own tree though I do not have the room for one where I live. BOO!

Green Fig Pudding was made out of frozen figs, coconut butter, stevia, vanilla, spirulina, and fresh mint. I must say this hit the spot for me! Delicious. Sorry I forgot to write down exactly what I did. I will do better next time. It was one of those spur of the moment idea and just went with it.

Perfection!

Perfection!

Post-workout smoothie- with hemp oil

  • 2 tbsp carob powder
  • 1 pint fresh blueberries
  • 2 tbsp hemp oil
  • 1 tbsp vanilla bean powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 2 packets stevia
  • 1 tbsp maca
  • small handful of fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds

IMG_8060

Tasted pretty good! Might be a keeper!

Now after our delicious post workout hemp oil smoothie we felt a little hungry a few hours later. There wasn’t much left in the house so we had to turn to our freezer where we had some of our famous kale onion bread stored. This was a treat because this was not on our originial schedule for this weeks eating (due to our cleanse) but we went with it anyway. And it was well worth it! Sorry no picture we ate it too fast! It is that good and addicting.

Dinner was another version of chia pudding. This time we added goji berries. We are hooked on our chia puddings. When you eat it you can just feel those chia seeds going right to work. They are great too because they really help make you feel full.

Goji berry pudding was made up of chia seeds (Salba is the brand we like), hemp milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and gogi berries. We put everything into a bowl and let it sit for abou 30 minutes or so then it was good to go.

Workout re-cap:

Still struggling with a headache…hard to focus on work let alone a workout. During this cleanse we were planning on taking it easy with our workouts. Yesterday it was 2 very short workouts, so today we tried sitting in the sauna.

Why sauna? Why not, there are so many benefits of saunas.

Now if you are in good health, saunas are great, but if you suffer from high blood pressure or have heart disease they may not be good for you, so be cautious. And as always check in with your doctor.  When you sit in a sauna, your blood will increase and you will SWEAT! This is a great way to get rid of unwanted “junk” and improves general circulation.  Just make sure you do not stay in the sauna too long and drink lots of water!!

The benefits of sweating have been noted all the way back since the Stone Age.  People have always known its proven effectiveness in flushing out toxins and maintain optimal physical and mental health!  Other cultures have their own variation of saunas ranging from sweat baths to sweat lodges. It all makes since because skin is the largest organ and pores play a major role in detoxification. Sweat takes toxins out of the body and flushes them out of the pores.

Some benefits of sauna:

  • feeling of psychological peace
  • clears complexion
  • relieves minor illness
  • revives muscles
  • sharpened senses
  • improved circulation
  • weight loss
  • mind and body relaxation

Sweating is the body’s safe and natural way to heal. So try the sauna next time you are looking for a way to relax and get rid of toxins!! If you have never done the sauna before start with about 10 minutes (or as long as you can handle) and work your way up to 30 minutes. Do not forgot to bring a towel and change of clothes…you will want to shower after your sauna session.

We managed to sit in the sauna today for 35 minutes (we have done the sauna before many times). Both of us wanted to stay longer because it was relaxing but knew we better get on with our day. We both felt relaxed, renewed, and as if all this weight had been remove from our shoulders. We love the sauna!

Twins Question: Have you sat in a sauna before? What was your experience like?

Till next time, cheers!

What a tennis match

Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 10:58 AM

I am sure everyone is watching one of the greatest tennis matches. Roddick vs. Federer in Wimbledon finals…doesn’t get any better than this!! I must say even though I have my computer with me while I am watching the game, I just can’t seem to get much work done, huh. Congrats to Federer and great job Roddick…two amazing athletes!

Congrats to Serena Williams. It is always fun to watch sisters play a sport that they both love passionately.  Lori and I would always get compared in sports, which I know the William sisters know a lot about too. The number one question we would get asked was which twins is better? We hated this question because we never looked at it that way because we played different positions. Although we both would push the other one during a match because being sisters we knew we could yell at one another.  Sometimes it helped us be more competitive but it also puts a strain on the sister friendship. Our passion was volleyball, we both miss it…maybe one day we will get back into. We occasionally will get a volleyball and pepper with one another. It sure brings our competitive side back out. Now for tennis, we play that for fun.

Here is the breakfast I enjoyed while watching the tennis match. Don’t you just love pigging out while watching people burn calories??? haha

Buckwheat with goji berries &raw cacao

Buckwheat with goji berries &raw cacao

This is one of our favorite meals to eat. Sometimes we have it for breakfast and other times as a snack.  The one I made here was simple: buckwheat (soaked), goji berries, raw cacao and poured about 2 tbsp of coconut oil over it….yum. Sometimes we will make a porridge out of it. We place the buckweat in the food processor with an apple (really any fruit you have on hand), dates, goji berries, raw cacao nibs, and coconut oil…and top it off with cinnamon. So much better than cereal and milk!

Well now that the match is over, I guess I better get some work done. I am not sure what I will have for lunch, do not have much food in the house, so I will go see what I can come up with…

till next time,

Michelle
