Hey everyone
Congrats to the Saints for being Superbowl Champs!!! Michelle was cheering for them as I was for the Colts!!
Anyways we wanted to share want we enjoyed yesterday for the big game. Even some of our friends took some nibbles and approved ; )
First up:
Pure2Raw Kabocha Lime Guacamole

Yes we still had some leftover roasted Kabocha squash that we thought why not add it into our guacamole?? We enjoyed this with some of our Pumpkin Seed Kale Crackers…Perfect match!

It was soooo good!! Creamy, limey, & a little bit of sweetness from the kabocha squash, Heather inspired appetizer!
We are loving this squash…in everything!!
And of course we could not go a day without our fermented foods

Mixed in our guacamole in with kraut &veggies
Next:
Pure2raw Cheezy Pepper Nachos
We poured the cheezy sauce over our Rosemary Crackers.
We just went for the plain cheez and cracker (our chip) match ; ) No fancy toppings for us, sorry we are boring.
And FINALLY
Pure2raw Club Sandwich
And it featured some eggplant bacon, courtesy of Matthew Kenney and we know Mrs. Fitnessista loves some eggplant bacon!!
Oh did we eat this??
Well it was a little messy, but that was okay it was worth it ; ) It was actually kind of weird for us to eat a sandwich…. having a raw sandwich at that! We were eating a sandwich just like everyone else
The bread is some of Pure2raw buckwheat bread (we will add this product soon) Heavenly
YUMMY!
Overall we had lots of good eats that we were willing to share with others. It was great day to eat some special treats!
But wait what about dessert…
Pure2Raw Snickerdoodle Cupcakes
Inspiration from Chocolate Covered Katie snickerdoodle oatmeal.
PERFECT!!!
Seriously our best cupcake yet!! Love the blend of sugar and cinnamon ; )
Our friends even enjoyed some of these
Snickerdoodle cookies. They loved them!! No one could guess they were raw cookies! We are going to have to make more.
In the news:
We are working on adding some new products to our online store in addition we will be announcing later today our Valentine’s Day Specials!!
Check back in because you are going to want to miss it, plus we will be sharing the details about our Valentine’s Giveaway!!!!

Theme week: Raw Desserts
Hello everyone,
As promised from via Tweeter request and me wanting to re-create my first attempt of making raw ice cream. Michelle and I got together yesterday and studied our recipes and decided to give making a no nut raw ice cream a try.
I have made an raw ice cream before though it had cashews in it. So since it looks like we have been having a theme of no nuts we decided to continue that theme.
And time to reveal the two flavors we created: Pomegranate and Chocolate chip cookie dough!!!
Our friend Heather is having a great giveaway, and the criteria was to create something using pomegranate and one of Katie’s recipes. Well you all saw our creation of us following one of Katie’s fudge balls ideas earlier this week. We had some leftover of our chocolate covered chocolate chip balls so we decided to create two different flavors using these two ingredients!
Are you ready for the recipes……
Pure2Raw Recipe: Raw No Nut Ice Cream
Ingredients:
- 2 medium bananas
- 1/3 cup lucuma powder
- 3 tbsp coconut butter
- 3 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1 packet stevia (add more sweetness to taste)
Directions:
Place bananas, lucuma powder, water, vanilla, and stevia into blender and blend till creamy.

Next add in your coconut butter and coconut oil.

And blend till smooth and well incorporated. It takes a few minutes!

Time to flavor
We first did pomegranates.
Add 4 tbsp of fresh pomegranates to blender (or till your liking of flavor)

Again blend till creamy!

Next up … chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream
Follow the same ice cream recipe above. Though to flavor it you will add in some cookies… we added our leftover chocolate covered chocolate chip cookies to ours! Cut each cookie ball into little pieces. Size doesn’t matter you may cut as small or as large cookie chucks as you would like in your ice cream.

Next stir in the cookie chucks

OMG…. food orgasmic !!!
Now for the hardest part… waiting.
Set your ice cream mixtures into the freezer and WAIT!!! If you can
We let ours set for about 5-6 hours. Felt like a little kid again waiting for the ice cream truck to come!
TIME TO EAT DEVOUR ICE CREAM!!!
Pomegranate Ice Cream Anyone???

Seconds???

Thirds???? Who wants cookie dough???

More please….

Delicious!! Mouth-watering!!
I never thought I would ever make my own ice cream… yet here I am doing it. And the great thing it was fun and easy.
Reasons why we love this recipe:
- contains no dairy or animal product
- good for me
- easy to do
- low in sugar
- contains the ‘good fat’
- taste great
- no special equipment except a blender
- And best of all NO UPSET TUMMY!!!
Michelle and I hope you enjoyed our raw ice cream lesson. We have seen a ton out there in the blog world, here are just a few… Gena’s soft served, raw food nation’s strawberry ice cream, and Melissa’s almond banana oh the list could go on…. so many great recipes and flavors out there!!! So exciting to see all the ice cream love!!!
We would love to hear your ideas and/or recipes! We have already started coming up with some new ideas to create more versions of ice cream… more to come soon we promise
Gosh the ideas keep rolling…
Thanks for stopping by…
And we would like to say Happy 25th Birthday to our dear friend Gina! Happy Birthday girl! Eat some cake on us!!!
Till next time,
The Twins

Hey everyone
First it was very nice to sleep in today, although I did miss my workout. But sometimes you need rest.
I just had an apple before heading into class this morning…wasn’t that hungry after last night : )
Today we got to enjoy our yogurt...I was very excited because this is something I have always wanted to make.

Although I was a little nervous when I pulled this out of the dehydrator
But Ladan reassured us that it is still fine that the dehydrators were set a little to high for these guys.

So we just scraped it off

Now that is more like it...creamy...mmmm
Breakfast is served

Whitney was kind of enough and made some sprouted buckwheat goji berry cacao granola for the class. Thanks Whit!
This made my morning!! I even had seconds : )
Then we did some prep work for raw pizzas for the restaurant….good news that they keep running out of things due to being busy…but also bad news because you gotta keep making more. Kitchen has been a bit crazy but good crazy! Yay for raw foods : )
Next up in class was seaweeds!!

They have been soaking for one day so ready to go
We had a few different types soaking that we got to play around with for our recipe.

Arame, Wakame, Kelp, Kombu, Dulse
Then we rinsed and cut them into strips for our salad

Then time to plate up our Macrobiotic meal

In the cup (sorry no more bowls) is raw miso soup with raw tofu. And we had our dehydrated carrots and raw sauerkraut. I was a little surprised about how much I enjoyed everything : )
So what to know how to make raw miso soup?

Use the seaweed water blend and then add miso and blend some more.
Then cube your raw tofu and chop up some green onions and viola!

Dessert time : )

Our tarts from yesterday and walnut cream
Assembly line please…

I love black mission figs

I got rolling with the figs that I forgot about the oranges…opps
I had a little extra filling which I gladly ate and Gina and Whitney enjoyed it too.

I cannot wait to eat these…but for now they are in the fridge to set. Tomorrow we will drizzle honey and lavender on top…YUM!
We ended class today with raw muffins: Cacao Pear Muffins

Wet and Dry ingredients
Stir together then we molded into muffin pan and then placed in the freezer to set.
Here is what they will be looking like tomorrow

Due to limited number of muffin pans the rest of the batter I made into raw cookies

Opps 1 is missing...hehe I ate one : ) very very good, hey I love sweets
We learned a lot in class today and here is a quick overview of the health benefits of seaweed:
- contain virtually all the minerals found in the ocean-the same minerals that are found in human blood
- excellent source of iodine and vitamin K
- very good source of the B-vitamin folate and magnesium, iron and calcium, and the B-vitamins riboflavin and pantothenic acid (which is great for vegans…so the next time someone asks you where you get your b-vitamins from here is your answer SEAWEED)
- contain good amounts of lignans, plant compounds with cancer-protective properties
- nature’s richest sources of iodine (Kelp especially) which as a component of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4 that are essential for human life
- Helps heart disease because reduces blood pressure and prevents heart attacks
- they are anti-inflammatory
- Gives menopausal symptom relief (good news for us ladies)
- great source of chlorophyll, essential fatty acids, and amino acid
Seaweed’s health benefits have been known for a long time. Seaweed is fully packed to much-needed vitamins and minerals, including some relatively rare trace elements.

Lesson Summary: Eat your seaweeds!
Did you know that sea vegetables are neither plants nor animals but classified in a group known as algae?
Have a great evening!
Till next time,
Michelle

Hello everyone
I hope everyone is having a great Friday. We have been extremely busy today and we remembered that in a previous post we mentioned how we were going to make Friday’s our FUN topic day. Well, so far that doesn’t look like that was such a smart idea on our end. Because Friday is our busiest day!!! Full of baking and fulfilling orders. Therefore, we decided that we are going to move our Fun topic day to Saturday. Since it is the weekend and we will have a little bit more time, despite lack of sleep from the night before!
As I mentioned we have been so busy today that are meals were just thrown together. Grabbing whatever we have on hand. Hey, it happens sometimes! Due to Friday being a crazy day it seems to be happening more often with us.
Our green smoothie lasted us all morning though we got hungry again around 11:30am… the hunger pains started to kick in full gear. As we finished up some baking we finally got around to create a simple pre-workout snack along with a few extra snacks. (Lori was hungry)
Simple pre-workout shake:
water, chia seeds, stevia, sun is shining, bee pollen, and maca (been having a lot of maca lately due to going off our BC pills and now our hormones are going crazy… ugh. The joys of being a girl)

Simple and yet good.
This drink really hit the spot. Though we both had a large appetite from running around all morning baking away in the kitchen, which lead us to enjoy a few more treats before we went and worked out. Plus Michelle finally started to pack her things. (She was supposed to start last night- way to go sis waiting to the last minute)
Next pre-workout snack was one of our favorites: raw lemon cookie

nice crunchy outside and soft and moist on the inside

more lemon cookies right out of the dehydrator ... yummy
We make these lemon cookies all the time. They are going to be added to our Pure2Raw product list soon! Stay tuned we will update our raw foods product line soon.
Now for the last part of our pre-workout snack – each had one slice of our raw onion green flat bread! Need I say more! YUM! Ya, we are obsessed with our green breads. We will be doing on post on them soon!

not sure what combination this is because we make so many different versions. But they are so good! And good for you too.
Now we are stuffed. We are not sure why we felt that we needed all this food before we our workout because it was going to be a short and sweet one! We didn’t even think we would have the time for a workout today, so we are happy with our jog. Yep just a jog today…due to all the goodies beforehand we were not feeling the best! Our mistake…sometimes we just really love food.
Does that ever happen to you… your life gets so busy sometimes that you feel guilty taking a break to go workout (walk, meditate, or just relax)? Or you eat a little to much due to stress?
It happens to us quite a bit. Still working on getting over that guilt.
Twins Workout
32 minutes of a light and easy jog
Post Workout Meal: Juice
Surprise, surprise, right
LOL. We really love juice after we workout. It is so easy on the body! Today our juice was celery, cucumber, pears, beet, and kale

Well here is where all the fun was today:

MICHELLE’s idea of packing…throw everything onto the bed and see what fits.
Then I heard “Lori, I need help!” haha, oh sis your too funny sometimes

Getting better

Things are in the suitcase!
And we ended our night with a slice of a going away cake for Michelle:
Raw chocolate walnut cake with chocolate coconut frosting….yum

Pure Bliss!
We made this cake awhile ago (kept in freezer), and we saved a slice for this occasion!
Our tummies our happy now!
Well tomorrow Michelle will be flying to Oklahoma City and I will be selling our Twin Cakes gluten free vegan goodies along with Pure2Raw products at the farmers market.
So our journey apart begins…
